Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

If I was David Noble I would look to trade Dangerfield for Horlin-Smith plus their number one draft pick this year + a later draft pick/young kid.

Pretty good chance Danger goes next year anyway. One compo draft pick worse than pick 15 plus Horlin Smith IMO.

I'm not sure if Gibbs is that bothered with returning home. I think he is interested in going to a good club that can afford him an that will play finals. Of course its ridiculous for Gibbs to be earning 700k but i wouldn't be surprised if he has already found a top club that is willing to pay him that sort of money. Look at tippet. The Crows thought he was going to gold coast to be home but went to Sydney where he could be a part of a successful club and earn a lot of money.

nah he'll come to the club he supported as a kid, the mighty roos.

although the last time a good player who supported north changed clubs we didn't get (caddy) but i think we are in a good position to get Gibbs

Don't know if Gibbs is what we need to be honest.

i wouldn't rule out port that's for sure, do they need him possibly not, but wouldn't turn a gift horse in the mouth. Both carlton and crows are on salary cap squeezes. Danger sloane both coming out of contract, if rumors are true teams in vic willing to pay up to 1.2 mil for danger, so lets say danger stays crows will need to pay close or just above 1 mil min. the player id love off the crows list is sloane, who knows what hes worth but lets say 800k, then you have walker and a few others about to come off contract as well. Carlton as much talked about payed allot of overs for there players creating a salary cap squeeze paying thomas what they did just made it worse.

Does gibbs look happy atm on the field with carlton, most would say possibly not.

Gibbs wants team success, whilst ill admit i am slightly bias but 1 team out of those 3 are defiantly on the up spiral and quickly, remember they are the third youngest team still and the difference between them and GC in age is like 7 days difference in average so they are basically equal second in age.

the big question is can port change his attitude, that will be the burning question in the back of there mind, will he "buy in" as hinkley says, thats a non negotiable. No idea what our salary cap is like atm, after alot of huge signings port dont announce how much they pay to keep. But you would say there is some space possibly cassissi hitchcocks carlilie and one others last year freeing up cash.

whilst allot of players chat after games, the chat after the carlton game with gibbs, boak and ebert (ports capt and vice) looked a little more than a chat

he actually fits ports mould of player, 6"2- or 3 midfield runner than can play anywhere. But port actually needs a forward support for jay, yes we have butcher and shaw but if jay gets injured that puts westoff down there something we dont want

Not arguing whether Gibbs will leave or not. I have no idea what he will do.

However, those saying he will leave because of his poor onfield performances this year -is wrong. Sure, he was poor on Thursday but it was one of the first times he's ever been tagged. Also he was one of our BOG in rd 1 - as supported by game reports from all papers. Plus he's playing with a broken hand.

Would be great at the Crows, he could take the load of Thompson who is looking old.

600k would be about right, and I am not sure Carlton would offer that much over 4 years if he said he wanted to leave and they finished bottom 8.

He's already on that plus more. Clubs are going to have a whole lot more than you'd expect for us not to be able to match.

However, personally, I don't want him to stay of it's just for money. You want players to want to stay. If not, I'd rather bank the likely top 10 compo pick and the extra cap space for next years massive FA pool.

I am not sure Gibbs is worth over 600k to carlton, especially as they will be compensated with a top 10 pick for him. I do not doubt Carlton have the salary cap room, but I am not sure Malthouse rates Gibbs that highly

Two top ten picks in a draft full of key position players would be great for Carlton and is exactly what they need.

Surely hes worth more than Dale Thomas.

He might not be worth 600k but he re-signed with us last time when GWS and GC were offering big bucks so we had to pay overs. Same with Kreuzer.

gibbs is on 550k atm, dont know where you get the on 600k plus more, hes not on that. Be nothing for a team that atually wants him to throw 800-900k at him on a 1 yr contract knowing carlton cant match, then his new contract once there gets brought down to below that (ie a luke ball situation but with free agency instead of a draft)
