Without turning this into a sh*t fight, can you explain your rationale behind this comment?

I’ve taken a look at her Instagram. She doesn’t actually have Jamarras name in her bio/profile. He’s in one in every four or five of her posts. If her only interests were in showing off who she’s dating wouldn’t these things not be the case?

I don’t want to argue but I genuinely can’t understand this point of view.

I was speaking to someone at work yesterday who knows Marra very well. She originally was concerned about the relationship thinking he was being exploited. However Marra’s best friend was dating Mia’s best friend, and that’s how they came to get together after Marra split with his long term girlfriend. Her take is that they had been dating for awhile and kept it very quiet, before it got out, but Mia is quite down to earth and gets on very well with his family and friends. They both seem happy and that’s all we need to know.

Maybe it’s a generational thing where every movement has to be documented on social media.

But, I would’ve thought those close to him would see the obvious pressure on Jamarra from media, from supporters keen to see him debut, from everywhere, and bunker down and protect him not potentially add to it.

We all know grubby journos scour social media for stories, particularly from ‘influencers’ so you can bet this will be picked up. That’s all I’m saying, don‘t feed the media, it’s not a bad thing to share moments among yourselves and your mates without broadcasting them to media/trolls and potentially adding to the scrutiny.

But you feed the media in everything you do. Even if you don’t do anything.

I just don’t understand the view on Mia, though. She’s dated two AFL players and shares posts about Jamarra in around 20% of her social media. I don’t think that warrants the view point you shared, that’s all.

I understand what you’re saying and maybe you’re right, I just think you avoid feeding the media through your social posts. They‘ll base entire stories on a single social post these days and who does that help? It’s certainly not Jamarra.

He’s a teenage kid mate. Try and put it into perspective a little bit. He’s at home with his girlfriend. He’s not out breaking the law.
I never said he was breaking the law. I said photos like that are inane and they are.
He’s extremely naive if he doesn’t think stuff like this are contributing to the narrative currently around him. Sadly it’s about perception.

Given he's doing standard teenage crap.Maybe those who are judging and perpetuating the narrative about his personal life are the ones who should be doing the self reflection...

A lot of people won't like me posting this but I'm tired of holding my tongue so I'm just going to come out and say it.

It's past due that our club adopts a "no girlfriends" policy for 1st to 4th year players. It's much better for a young man that age to be single. It keeps them hungry. There's a reason Muhammad Ali used to abstain from sex for weeks before a big fight. Being sexually sated is not the way to get the best out of yourself. When you don't know where your next meal is coming from, so to speak, you work harder to prove yourself and earn your place in the pecking order. Competing for mating rights is the single most powerful and primitive drive that a young man will possess and it is the source of his power. To settle down with a long term girlfriend is to surrender that power.

Our captain doesn’t have a girlfriend (that we know of) and is the best player at the club. You may be onto something with that theory.

You should say what you’re thinking more often. Really glad to see this thread finally progress to some more serious and mature discussion.

I think the only issue may be that 10 or so sexually frustrated young men sharing locker-rooms and showers could have unintended consequences.

Lol grown men following Mia on social media in any form is just plain pathetic imo.

Actually following anyone if you are over 16 for that matter

I guess that puts to bed any thoughts that Bevo doesn't do anything....

It’s basically the opposite of the Year of the Dogs doco where Alan Joyce says ‘If I could put on a jumper I would…I can’t do it for you‘ and has basically run out of ideas (sacked not long after).

Bevo actually trying to come up with ideas and maybe solutions - what kind of coaching is that? Aren’t coaches just meant to scream and shout at blokes?

Just sounds like he’s sour that the disagreeable coach didn’t see him as a good fit in the side.

"I feel he has kept it a bit more simple this year"

Casually ignoring Bailey Dale to halfback, 3 tall forwards etc. I liked Trengove but he's clearly just sour about his time in reserves, which proved to be right as no other club wanted him either
