This must mean we don't get 16 if we get Nash?

No - on SEN their reporter said the deal is this -

Port gets 9, 16, Nash

Hawks get Shaun Burgoyne

Essendon gets Williams

The only sticking point is our second rounder and picks 40, 56 are to be distributed to Hawks/Essendon to 'even up' the trade. (I'd say 24 goes to Essendon, but for the others...)

Man, Rhode has done well with this one.

Pretty sad day. Glad its over though. We've been taking a hammering in the media. We have to make amends on the footy field. Bring on the draft and start preseason training. I hope the guys are hurting as much as we are.

While both teams will be looking at this as a win I think in reality both clubs have lost due to the 'bad feeling' that has been allowed to enter the media. Well done to the Port front office for getting a good deal and we're happy with SB.

SEN aren't reliable. They have completely ignored the 4th club, likely to be Sydney if Kennedy is on the move.

So we give up or 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks?

Sounds a bit much.

So we get 9, 16 & Nash
and lose 24, 40, 56 & Burgoyne.

Probably evens in the end, but it limits our draft activity.

Glad it is all sorted. It's about time. The deal seems fair to all in the end. Don't really think we need Nash though. I will be glad too when this week is over and we can move on to the draft and pre-season.

Shaun was a fantastic player and I will miss him, but at least now with picks 8, 9 and 16 we can look to build a brighter future.

Well done to Rhode, I agree it looks like he did a good job in the end. He had it pretty tough working with Hawthorn.

We sure were hammered in the media, not just in trade week, but all year! Unfairly as well. Every team has its ups and downs! But here is hoping the players can use it as motivation and come back firing with all guns blazing next year!

8, 9 + 16 = a brighter future. :thumbsu:

8 (Gun midfielder), 9 (Gun key forward) + 16 (Gun ruckman) :)
