Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. If he can't develop the team in seven years, never going to happen.

A good coach would look at the players he has at his disposal and work to their strengths and limit their weaknesses.

What's our gameplan?
Handball to feet and kick it to nobody in particular. Don't run defensively and allow a team to dictate the game on the spread. That and don't change things up much on match day because the weeks planning will not fail and lead us to Victory. :stern look

Was that from our captain or ex-captain?

So mark Thompson should have been flicked by the Cats at the end of 2006?

So why did Pagan take the Blues to back to back spoons. Surly being a master coach he would have looked at the players he has at his disposal and work to their strengths and limit their weaknesses?

Maybe he just had the cattle at North and not at the Blues.

Will never take this thread seriously until the title is changed to "Sack Scotts".

Until then, the thread may as well be locked...

I thought 6-8 at the start of the season. I want Scott to play all the kids and see who will be able to make it going forward. End of the day we need some top end talent. Dogs finished 10th in 2011 and then went 15th, 15th, 14th. We need to do the same.

2012 - pick 5 Stinger Pick 6 Macrea
2013 - pick 4 the Bont
2014 - pick 1 2012 - Tom Boyd

They also got some gold later in the draft:
2012 - Hunter pick 49
2014 - Daniel pick 46

Not sure if Scott can survive a run like this but for us to win a flag we need to drastically improve our list. We may also get very lucky with Ahern who was a top 10 pick.

I would push Hanson out and bring in Durdin or EVW this week. I think Hanson only played due to the Eagles tall forward line but he needs to be pushed out along with Gibson and by years end Swallow. We lack foot speed and class by foot.

With the Cats, GWS and Dogs in the next 3 weeks our season could be over very quickly. Not sure that is such a bad thing.

We 'apparently' lost our way hand balled when we should have kicked, kicked when we should have hand balled, kicked long when we should have passed. And the back line didn't work as a unit very well, as a comedy act they were on bloody fire.

if he can't communicate a simple team structure why is he there? Our season was always going to be one of rebuilding my concern is there was not one sign of us working towards anything in particular.

The youngsters no problem but there was plenty of senior players that dropped the ball yesterday and they'll all play next week.

Or you might be over selling the ability of coach. You think Beveridge could win the 2017 flag with our list?
I don't know. But I expect that our skill would improve considerably and our decision making a bit, that all players would exert defensive pressure, that we would build a solid game plan and structures, but have some flexibility to change things up if things are going badly, maybe develop and improve some players.

I'll be half glass after yesterday's loss; if our goal kicking was better, we'd have had an 'honourable' loss, and we can expect the team to gel better as the season progresses. But we did the basics so badly, and it was disappointing that the senior players were amongst the worst culprits. I don't believe we're tanking, but we'll get the same result if we continue to make basic, fundamental errors.

We have Brad for at least one, if not two seasons, so we might as well buckle in and enjoy the ride.

We need to relax - our season will be over shortly and we can start to get some elite footballers into the club.

End of the day Scott will survive 2017 - 2018 will be a lot harder for him and I can see the end is getting close for him.

Would lol if we did extend off a bottom 4 finish - this place would melt down..........

The kpis should be junior development only this season. If players like McDonald, atley, turner and the host of midfield b graders improve then I'd like to see him be retained.

If they continue to stagnate there's no reason to have him on again.

Might not been his game plan that got him over the line.

Carlton salary cap breach might've had something to do with his ability to coach.

Scott has had nothing of the kind of scandal and has a few more years to build the list.

Blues lost picks in the years they won the spoon with Pagan. An 18 year old Wells would not have made them much better.

Like us they didn't have many good picks leading up to their fall.

We might trade pick #1 for 3 rejected one-paced half back flankers. :stern look

There are two things that annoys me about Scott:

1. His team selection philosophy centres around always playing tried and failed seniors.

2. His lack of coaching adaptability during games and his lack of imagination. Eg: During the third quarter when the Eagles were running all over us, why didnt he throw a few players around. Throw Tarrant to CHF, place Waite to CHB, chuck JZ to FF and chuck LT on the ball. Anything ffs try something to at least show supporters you are actually trying something. He sits there like an impotent horny guy frustrated that another hot nude chick is walking out the door due to no action.

I really like the bloke but as a coach he is not up to it. Lacks discipline principles and the players take advantage of it.
But but we saw adaptability post back surgery remember he saw things differently watching the game from home.
Throw Tarrant to full forward at three quarter time for five minutes take a risk it might throw the opposition it might not work who cares try something. Waite to half back anything. Brad is stubborn, risk adverse.

My favorite is when the camera goes to Brad while we are getting smashed and he realises he is on screen and he picks up the phone and pretends to be thinking hard. How many times i've seen this happen.
What the hell is he really thinking about cause senior players kicking out on the full or a player missing targets by foot by twenty meters doesn't seem to concern him cause they get selected every week.

The problem with Brad is that he allows himself to be judged variadly by retaining a stoic facade that has been developed, honed and refined that aims to remain consistent in all situations. It's your typical corporate executive training program that his brother, Bucks and a few others have gone on as part of their development. The guys who remained true to themselves like Clarko, Bevo and Horso have had the most recent success by the way.

Anyway my point is that Brad doesnt coach like he played, a campaigner, if he did then he would be a different coach. I am a firm believer that you should never compromise your natural style too much as when you start to diverge from what comes natural, in pressure situations this can become a problem.

When he is planning and executing during the week he does so in a calm and relaxed tone, i would like to see him do that with a bit of venom by dropping any prick who didn't do their job or did it poorly. A Peter Finch outburst every now and again wouldn't go astry either to loosen the maternal strings a bit.

I like what i see in the young players, i like their aggressive nature during the JLT but they all went into their shell in round 1. Drop Hanson and Thompson immediately, they are poor defenders now and while Lachie gives 100% and is fearless, Thompson is the complete opposite and provides a poor example to our young blokes. I wonder what Durdin is thinking that a player who ducks his head when under the ball and succumbs to pressure like butter in a microwave is getting games ahead of him. How he retains his spot is beyond me.

Scott needs to be bold, stand by his young brood and drop 3 seniors and bring back Cunners, Clarke and Durdin this week. Time is now Scott (s)

Biggest 3/4 time deficit we've come back from under Mr Scott is 11 points. That's nastier than Petze overdosing on Viagra wearing lycra. I'll never forget it. The amount of subsequent tissue damage was frightening. And I was one of the privileged few who eyeballed Petze as the chaos unfolded. And to his credit, he just eyeballed me back. He didn't flinch.

I'm becoming more and more concerned we might be spoon material this season, surely he has had long enough to develop our list with minimal results. We need to have A graders developed and it just hasn't happened

The very definition of outlier.

Sheedy
Roos
Clarkson
Pagan
Williams
Longmire
Beveridge

All snared their 1st flag inside 3-4 seasons. Then there are some exceptions like Malthouse who at least took the side into a grand final within that timeframe.

Thompson at the cats is the extreme exception. The list had been exceptionally built and they had a charmed father-son run.

And using Thompson : Scott as a direct comparison, starting exactly 10 years apart - we're due this year's flag then. :stern look

and Eagles sacked Judge to replace him with Worsfold, and a Premiership 4 years later. The Thompson argument is for the tip.

Maybe we should chase Chris Scott - he won a flag in his 1st season.

Judge was sacked in 2001 - they added Judd, Sampi with pick 3 and 6, Seaby 22, Hanson 38 and Dean Cox from the Rookie draft - all 5 played in the premiership team. Cox and Judd were outstanding players.

Also in 2001 - Kerr was 18 and just played his 1st year. Again - timing can be everything.

They smashed the 2001 super draft, got out of the 2002 dud draft with Daniel Chick for pick 8 an picked up Selwood who won a B&F at pick 53.

They were the best team for 2 drafts in a row - its a massive leg up. Worsfold didn't waive a magic wand and turned a dud team into a premiership one.

2000 - bottom 4
2001 - bottom 4

This is where their premiership came from.
