C Judd another brownlow to go with his best and fairests, 2 All Australian jumpers (1 as captain) as well as bringing members, sponsors and hope to all of us Carlton fans, not to mention 2 finals since he joined us.
We also got Armfield in the trade who is a regular for us (forget about Sydney blemish-good to see he takes it on which is just what we need in modern footy)

West Coast got Notte (delisted), Masten (injured and hasn't deliver yet), Kennedy (while i like him and he has improved he is therabouts at this stage)

Congratulation Chris Judd 2010 Brownlow Winnerr, a worthy winner and a champion footballer.

So does anyone who thinks Carlton lost the trade now? (insert tumbleweeds)

GO Blues!

With the failure of Masten and Notte (horrid, horrid draft pick) it's been obvious for a while Carlton won the trade. Judd's class is priceless.

Read the post D***head! it wasnt just about Notte..

I thought it was pretty obvious i was expressing my displease at the Eagles for delisting Notte but whatever, call me a ******** if you like.

Notte was always going to be a long term project, had the talent but just needed to be nurtured. Getting shoved in the backline was never going to do him any good.

I believe he was the difference between the Judd trade, as West Coast could have settled their KPF for the next decade in 2007.

Fair enough apologies mate, thought you were calling me a fing idiot..hehe

I agree, the eagles should have given Notte more time, harsh in a team that should be giving more faith in teh kids..

No one really wins because neither club is going anywhere. Carlton have not a won a final under him and don't look like heading to the top four. West Coast have obviously not won, losing a club legend like Judd, they were never going to win.

I dont know who won the trade, but I won $75,000, thanks Juddy..
The AFL is a joke, Judd shouldve been rubbed out, but I for one are very
happy that he wasnt.

How strange. The team that picked Judd up were always going to be in front when the Eagle obviously lost a champion, even without hindsight.

Still undecided.

One of the teams has to actually be competitive for the trade to have benefited either side.

To have such an obviously dominant player, and such a mediocre season would be a really worry for the Carlton folk. If Judd is even 10% down on this year's input... where will they end up?

Well, a lot has changed since Judd has been at Carlton, for one Fev isnt
still at the club - changes everything, because he was the main source of
goals and pretty much coming into his peak around when Judd is.

Fev goes - then Henderson comes in, and he aint as ready made,
it does set the blues back - definately.

The Judd trade is too hard to judge, the blokes won the BnF every yr
he has been at the club, so on that alone - he cant do anymore.

Too many variables tbh, you cant really crucify WC and say Masten
is a spud - because if Carlton hadve had that pick, they might well of
chose a decent player.

Chris Judd winning an individual award doesn't really reflect a success for Carlton as much as it does for Chris Judd. The fact that Kade Simpson was your next highest votegetter with 9 speaks volumes of the real state of the Carlton list, especially in light of having Marc Murphy (5), Bryce Gibbs (6) and even Kreuzer (1) as No.1 picks.

What a load. Collingwood fans had us believe Swan had played the perfect season and was incredibly dominant. Carlton made the finals and was one kick away from very possibly making the prelim.

Ahaha that is some selective footy watching there. One kick away from
possibly making the prelim!? By that logic the Eagles were one kick away from beating Port Adelaide and then very possibly not getting the wooden spoon.

Almost making Prelim's are what true legends are all about!

Might have won a brownlow, but Carlton will not win a premiership while Judd is playing!

He's got about 5 years starting now to do it. Certainly not outside the realms of possibility to win one in that time frame. Once Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Henderson, etc pass the 100 game mark, there will be a lot more hardened bodies to help Judd out.

I also don't agree that Carlton have to win the premiership for the trade to be a success. Firstly, would we be better off with Masten and Kennedy instead of Judd? Doubt it. And what about our marketing appeal? What about our short term goals? Without Judd, we probably wouldn't have made finals this year. Reaching finals is good for all areas of footy. IMO it's something you can put a dollar value on. You also need to consider that Judd's arrival came on the back of our worst era. His presence and inspiration was required for not just the players, but the whole club and the fans.

Carlton Football Club haven't won anything since he arrived, so irrespective of West Coast's position it would be a long bow to draw which suggests they won.

Nil all draw.

The real gain from getting Judd is not the Brownlow win or his output on the field. Its the professionalism, work ethic and leadership he's brought to impart on a young group. When they picked him up they must have realised that their young talent needed a strong leader to learn from. The Blues had something of a true leadership vaccum when they picked him up which is why he has been worth every penny and the cost to get him. Even if Kennedy and Masten become superstars, the Blues still had a win with this trade.

And thats not even looking at the impact he's had on the club as a whole. He's brought some onfield credibility and star power that fans love and draws sponsors. Well done Blues. I think the only problem with this trade was that the two compromised drafts probably prevents them adding enough to the list to become a genuine contender before Judd bows out.
