Ormond sen's lost by 10 - 12 goals, Ormond res won by a similar margin. Some key players did not play after 1/2 time, but not 10- 12 goals worth. Talent wise, Ormond will be 30% - 40% better than last year, but will need to improve on yesterday's performance.

MM, I wouldn't worry too much about the practice match form. It's been a long preseason again and I think a lot of players are just keen for the real stuff to start. Ormond will be very tough to beat with their Robbins' ins and Miller back and some of their kids coming through and all in all they weren't that far away last year.

Bring it on, it promises to be a great year in C Section!

haileybury were terrible they were missing b.voss and s. loewe... handy inclusions although they won't make that much of a difference i don't think

Don't get too cocky Oakleigh.....Haileybury were resting 8 of their best 10. Getting them set for next week. From what i saw, Oakleigh were taking it like a Final, obviously keen to knock off a B-Grade side. They were pumped up, high-fiving each goal, playing with something to prove. OH seemed to be just going through the motions. Yes, Oakleigh played good footy, but keep a lid on it.

hows the nodders looking??? have they picked up any that will help them on their quest back to b grade???? someone that can take them that next step...

Got towelled(7-8 goals) by an understrength Old Mentone outfit on Saturday. Unless they were missing some key players, which I'm led to believe they weren't, they might struggle to back up their strong finish to last season.

:)
C Grade ..
Can we have some tipping experts get involved for this week?

I select
Hampton VS Oakleigh Repeat result of GF "O7 but close all day.

Ormond VS Mazenod Game of the round ... Home ground advantage here..

Parkdale VS Rupertswood Long drive home for the visitors

MHSOB VS Monash Students to win by the biggest margin

AJAX VS Whitefriars Closest result in C Grade ..AJAX by 10 points.

Not bad Mazal ....
but .....I reckon Rupertswood will be too good for Parkdale, and Whitefriars will beat Ajax... the Friars are unknown and Ajax will struggle to match Whitefriars pace....
...otherwise I agree with the other slections: Oakleigh Ormond and Monash ..

Nobody at oakleigh is getting carried away with a practice match win that is for sure. Focus was on being competitive and playing the sort of footy that we need to play to mix it with C Grade teams.

However if I was an OH supporter i would be asking why you need to rest 8players one week out from the start of the season when we have just had six months rest ?

anyway tips for this week...

Ormond to beat Mazenod
Rupo to beat Parkdale
Monash Blues over MHSOB
Whitefriars to beat AJAX
Oakleigh over Hampton in a close one

Winning a practice match like Oakleigh won against OH will only lift there belief moving into 2008. We beat St. Bernards the week before the season started in 2007, we were rated as very lucky to be in "C" Grade and more than likely to be a candidate for relegation. We preceded to win 11 straight, i'm tipping Oakleigh will have alot of momentum.

Oak def HR by 9pts
Rupppo def Parkd by 3pts ( Parkd to miss a goal after the siren)
Ormond by 11pts over Maz
MHSOB by 12pts over Monash
Ajax by 19pts over WF
Very cautious about Rd 1, early days it could be very even, no idea actually!

MHS Young players to watch:
S Volkering- Coming off a spell, good pace, Wunderkind
M Nicholas- Good mark, fit, spent too much time at Berkely
O Walsh- Mediocre last year, interrupted pre-season due to work, is due
L Evans- Hard, excellent pre-season, captaincy material
J Gerner- Good overhead, wily, is the youngest 30-something in the competition
T Rendell- Can go

Thoughts?

Do you think Ollie Walsh is likely to play seniors?

No need to explian how important a rd 1 win is for teams.

Here we go,

Oakleigh to dispose of Hampton - 36pts

Parkdale to get the job done over a hapless and injury depleted rupo - 27pts

Ormond to be on top after rd 1 - robbo to kick 7 , nodders unless have an influx off u/19's will be very old and slow - 63pts

Monash in a tight one over MHSOB- 7pts

Ajax with their first off many wins agaist the friars, the Dukes to kick 8 and put three in hospital - 43pts

Good luck to all in what should be a ripping C section this year.

Don't know just yet. Leave that one up to the brains trust down at the Woodfull-Miller. This week? Unlikely one would think.

Kingbrown, you are the first person to tip MHS for over 12 months. They are like Darryl White having a shot from the boundary at the moment. But we will see...

Who is this O Walsh?

Did he play B-Grade seniors last year? - must admit I lost touch with B-Grade in '07

Will look out for him. Interesting not tipping him for 1's this week if they've only had 12 on the track also.

Round one is here and lets see if the pre-season specialists can turn it on for me this weekend and get me real fired up WOW WEE!

Admit to not having a clue about MHSOB, would love to stay in Monash's division forever, there ground gives me goose bumps

Tips for Round 1

Parkdale to be defeated by Rupo to much Class and Pace.
Oakleigh to repeat GF over Rovers but shouldbe a lot closer.
Ormond to win at home against Nodders.
Monash (ones to watch) easily over MHSOB
Ajax Just over Friars

Good luck to all teams

Heard rumours it isn't quite as good at the moment. They've relaid the ground with that "summer grass" during cricket season, and it was looking rather sandy throughout the year.

Certainly no expert but here goes:

Hampton Rovers to turn tables in GF Replay over Oaks by 12 points
Ormond by 27 at EE Gunn against the Nodders
Rupo by 7 points in a cracker at Parkdale
Monash by 15 away to MHSOB
AJAX Bby 22 at Sportscover over The Friars

Just great to be getting underway. Good luck to all sides in what promises to be a great year in C Section.

TIPS FOR ROUND 1.

Monash Blues with a late last 1/4 surge.
Oakleigh in a tight one.
Rupo to shake off Parkdale late. Rupo have lost a few, but brilliant last year & will still have enough.
Ormond to give Barney a winning return home.
Ajax over the Friars, the Dukes factor alone worth 5 goals.

Rovers
Monash
Parkdale
Ajax
Ormond

Good luck everyone, hope you enjoy the read in the AF

:thumbsu:

Frase

Oakleigh
Monash
Rupo (can't believe some of you are writing them off??)
Friars (Despite Scribe's lowly opinion of us)
Mazenod (Does everyone forget how good they were last year?)

Good luck to all clubs it's great to have the footy back!

Round 1: No Dukes, No Ritterman... No Ajax???

Will see what they're really made of

Ajax Looked pretty good from where I was standing in their 16 goal win... Actually had 4 or 5 Senior players out but more depth this year.
Whitefriars were disappointing and looked under done in comparison.
Ajax was fast and direct ---- a good first up win...
More of that expected this year.
