BS and Sausage Roll, where are you? have OC1 gone into lockdown? Has the equine influenza hit? Never on a Friday has there not been some comment. Us big footy addicts look forward to something from the big 2.

never fear kb, the sausage is still around, alive and kicking. heading out to the junction oval today to see who we welcome back to c section in 2008.

B Section sends a humble apology for the relegation of Ajax to C grade, please dont hold i against us. We dont want them in B grade but someone has to have them. I honestly wish you all luck next year

Fitzroy are on the slippery dip back to the bottom grade of the VAFA. A terrible 139 point loss today in their most important game of the season(Should I post this on the D Section thread?):)

Rupertswood.A.F.C

2001 - D4 - 3rd (Syndal def Swinburne).
2002 - D4 - 1st (Def Werribee 27 points).
2003 - D3 - 3rd (Swinburne def Monash).
2004 - D3 - 2nd (Def by Oakleigh 9 points).
2005 - D2 - 2nd (Def by Old Geelong 21 points).
2006 - D1 - 2nd (Def by Old Carey 38 points).
2007 - C - 2nd (currently 2nd behind Old Camberwell).

Predicted to have won only 1 flag in 7 years of being in the top 3???

posted in another thread... i found it very interesting.

ruppo were awesome today, and really took the foot off the pedal in the last. will proabbly end up in b next year. D3 to B is an impressive effort. far out there ground is a mile away tho.

dont worry im sure reds will win another 'low grade" preimership next year and be back in C section.

Or maybe they will tank for the whole of the '08 season because they are so poor ,and go to D2 just to make sure they actually win the flag? Either way we wont be seeing the reds in C section in "08!

It probably is a fair way away from Saudi Arabia

Congratulations to all "C" Grade participants for 2007. Rupo won the club 18 flag in 2000 to gain acceptance into the D4 section of the Amateurs. Yes, we have come along way. We all know we will again be up against some incredible talent in the finals series, but today we have had another day in paradise, with another emphatic performace. The boys are a great group. The Monash boys today i think were depleted with injury, but what a great venue to play football, and a club with great spirit. Bring on the finals. Go Rupo!!!!

Spot on D-G, Reds and Friars clearly the top two, with a large gap to Mazenod and Carey. Reds have made a very impressive start to pre-season and I understand the friars are very, very confident of doing well.

Close to the worst predictions I have ever seen.

Doesn't matter how many you have at the lunch.

Reds playing for their lives and the Friars playing for nought!

Reds for mine and Burgs to be chaired off a hero!

OTL, final figure was 106 at the luncheon and 139 points the margin. Game was never a contest and but for poor kicking the friars would have had to salute the crowd twice. Particularly liked Swain's 4 goals - not bad for a backman.

As for Burgs, what a joke, he was the third person in the bar after the game having not spoken to the players, slammed down a hot dog, left early and drove out of the carpark heading the wrong way. If he is the messiah you are seeking then buy him a compass and introduce him to the playing group.

One thing is for sure, this board will be quieter next year with fewer rubbish statements being made:D

Gee, you have been storing up that hostility for a while, given that prediction was made back in Feb?

Anyway, what about my corrrect prediction that your club ( Parade) would do the double drop? Would you like me to dig that one up?

Whoops, don't want to talk about that one! Enjoy D2!

If its not bad enough coming back to work today, I then have to read this dribble! We have been hearing about how good OC are for years( remember Richard Taylor?), so lets get a dose of reality.

Reds will clearly be the testing material with the new coaching structure, a new president, the departure of Red Roy and the scribe on board as ressies coach. There are at least 7 quality recruits to be added and Steve Maus is a breath of fresh air. The clean out that had to happen .

Be afraid alright, of the Reds!

Don't give up your day job.Gotta hope OC can do rthe job this year ,in an even comp,it means no Reds already and hopefully no Ajax. What a luxury.

Maybe Ajax needs to re invent Davis to run the boundary.RIGHT WHACK

old camberwell will start as favourites however if it is a hot day and the rupo boys get their run and carry going who knows. 70/30 camberwell win.

mazenod will have to be favourites here. confidence will be high and old carey seem to be falling away at the wrong time of the year. after smashing the reds and rupo they have gone backwards in the last two games. mazenod have beaten the whole field and will fear no one. 60/40 mazenod win.

bad luck to north old boys. good club. hope they bounce back next year.

Interesting final round. Reds fall to D, Nodders win the finals preview and both Rupo and the OC1 gear up in preparation for a game that can take them straight to B Grade.
Still tipping Brian and Sausages mob to win the 2nd semi in a canter. Dry, wet, fast, slow...this side is so packed with A-List stars that i wouldn't be suprised if they rest half a dozen or so to give them a 14 day freshen up before the grand final. Wellers by 73.
The other is harder to tip. Nodders by 3 at home probably equates the bookies starting the teams even on a neutral ground. Were players rested? I'm guessing both sides will have similar sides to the two that lined up yesterday, with maybe 1 or 2 changes. Toss of the coin.....Carey by 4 points in a thriller.

Now what about the Reds disappearing without even an effort. Extremely disappointing. I hope someone down there is strong enough to get it back together. Perhaps Scribe will be given the top job. I for one will be hoping so. The only good thing to come out of the club in 07.

As i see this weeks finals market

OC ( $1.60 ) V Rupertswood ( $2.20 )

Old Carey ( $1.90 ) V Mazanod ( $1.80 )

My predictions to come later in the week.

Please don't take offence to this mobbs, but what a disgraceful performance form the Reds in a game to avoid relegation. Playing a team that had nothing to play for and they get hammered by 139 points !!!

Hardly the stuff of A grade clubs. A fitting way to end a farcical season at Brunswick Street Oval.

Scribe - if I were you I would head back to Trinity as fast as my legs could take me!!

Well i watched the mighty Nodders on Saturday and think we are looking pretty good, with a few very handy ins to come. Old Carey would also be concerned with Holland and White taking very little part in the game, and obviously under injury clouds. The big ruckman was good for them as was Heppell,Evans and Parker in the backline, but otherwise they were pretty rank. We had winners all over the ground with Steinfort of the backline, Reed, and Jaya's hangers a highlight. Even if they get the other Heppell back i am sure the return of Bonner will offset that. Ten in a row next Sunday then Rupo or Old Camberwell.

To use your own words, nice deflection. Start worrying about your own backyard. You may note that pre season I tipped the Reds to drop. Maybe one day you will realise what it is like to make it in the top grades and not just be a lower grade bully.

Who do the Saints play next week ? What a way to use all those draft picks.

As for my Reds, yesterday's result pretty much sums up a difficult year. Thankfully the off field has been one of the few shining lights, and we'll take our medicine and reload from D1 next year. The club has got many, many good people in it, but it's on the field where your reputation is forged, and we'll cop 2007 on the chin and move on.

To those who say the club is a "joke" and a "disgrace", come down and spend a bit of time with a few of the Redders and you might change your tune.

Over and out, and for the record, my money is on Old Camberwell (pardon the pun).

What a surprise, Monkey setting up OC1 and playing down Mazenods chances? It is all so predictable.

Toss of the coin? Mazeond have won 9 in a row and go in raging favoorites for mine.

Agree Reds are a joke.

But it isn't predictable Roll, as i have no connection at Mazenod at all. Seen them play once in my lifetime. I can however read team sheets off the VAFA site and see who may or may not come in for them.
Also i am not setting OC1 up for a fall. They will win and win easily. I'm sure some may come on after it is all finished and tell us how great OC1 are, were and will be. I am just doing it a little differently as i cant see anything to fear and am happy to declare them early as certs. It wont be a win for only you and Brian...it will be a win for many of us. Will find you at the bar on that big day and buy you a bourbon. I will certainly owe you one by then! It will certainly be a time to celebrate for many.
A team that beats another by 3 goals at home will never go in as a raging favourite in my book, the next week at a neutral ground. Old Carey v Mazenod is a real toss of the coin. This is my head, not my heart talking here. Freebasers report makes me think this way even more. If Carey looked rank and Mazenod had winners all over the ground, then a game that was obviously pretty tight on the scoreboard (Carey even led at 3/4 time) suggests that if Carey can find some winners and not play with rankedness then the result may change.
Heres to a good finals series. Just who will go up with Camberwell in 08? Should be very interesting.

Unbelievable scenes yesterday at Friar Park, I thought it would be totally game on with the reds but it was like watching Zimbabwe play Australia! I know much has been said about resting the 10 players against OC but seriously what happened about punching out of a corner? It is just an unbelievable decision that smacks of little respect for the value of their club. GWH all of your questioning etc comes to Zilch when your club performs as pathetically as it has over the past month! I know it is only C grade ammos but we care about it and players try their bums off for it! Not sure the same care factor is there for reds, so perhaps a spell in D may allow them to reasess and have a crack next year.

As for the Friars they have endured a mighty difficult year with a stack of talent going to EFL before the season, no training venue until the middle of the year, injuries etc etc hampering their year! If they can hang on to their playing group for next year they will be very competitive!

Finals are really interesting! I am big on the Nodders they are a quality club and try harder then the other 3! If weather gets ugly in finals they will be a real chance! Big names trying to win games off their own boot may not actually be the answer for OC 1. I would not be surprised to see Mz v Rupo GF with the runners taking it on the big ground! I love the talent of OC 1 but again reiterate their lack of cohesion! OC 2 are terrific but will face the C grade in form team next week and be taken down by them!

But as many have said this year well done to all players and especially to the finalists I hope that the games are reflective of each teams form lines througout the year as they have all been terrific!

Finally the beloved Sheeds & Hirdy have stepped out so i guess footy will never be the same, bring back the barrel!

Over & out from the fiery red head!

PS Lots of good reports about Scribe yesterday in the face of adversity!
