I'm concerned like most that Essendon have found someone in Nikolas Cox. However saving grace is his body might never let him reach great heights. He's built like David Bourke, the son of a gun who played for Richmond about 20 years ago.

I think he's a pretty special talent. If he can't bulk up, barring injuries, you're still looking at a Westoff as his floor. If he can bulk up, he's going to be amazing.

Cox definitely looks good, but I think using a near-300 gamer as an example of his floor is a bit over the top. Westhoff was also sort of the reverse to Cox - drafted as a KPP but developed into a utility do-it-all.

I just can't imagine him being a lesser player - obviously may not have the longevity or durability, but in terms of how good he becomes, I just think him being that sort of quality is a given.

Fair enough. I've only caught his games against WC and Fremantle, and they happen to be the two worst games he's played! Not sure if I can be bothered watching the Tigers v Bombers game but if I get the time I'll try and watch him closely

He only turned 19 a few months ago, I'd say his build is pretty normal for that a kid that age who is that tall.

I suspect that if any club was told after gazing into a crystal ball that they'd have a Justin Westhoff type on their hands for the next 13-14 years they'd be pretty happy I suspect.

Heavily underrated player imo and performed to a consistently good level despite being shat on at times by coaches and selection committees and being thrown pretty much all across the ground at varying points in his career (sometimes within the same season).

he suffered a lot from being versatile so the coaches just shoved him constantly into new roles to fix holes. At his best a good player though, certainly a better career than the majority of high draft picks.
