Absolutely. Cant understand people losing their mind over what is simply a split round.I'm happy with an extra week of footy on tv.

Well then make it another normal round and have everyone playingThe broadcasters obviously thought it was a good idea....

I doubt we'll ever see normal again. It's an extra week of footy and that's pretty good.Well then make it another normal round and have everyone playing
It's going to be interesting what they do when Tassie come in.I doubt we'll ever see normal again. It's an extra week of footy and that's pretty good.
I was thinking the same thing. Not sure how it changes the landscape but it is going to be interestingIt's going to be interesting what they do when Tassie come in.
At least one team has a bye every week and they can't keep 23 games as it doesn't add up. I think they may add in another gather round in WA if they can pull it off logistically- 22 games - 10 H&A + 2 gather - spread out over 25 weeks.I was thinking the same thing. They might even dare to have a gather round in tassie. Split between Hobart and LauncestonAt least one team has a bye every week and they can't keep 23 games as it doesn't add up. Worked well for over a hundred years, why wouldn't we change round 1 so its actually round 2 to really confuse everyone for no reason at allNot sure why they don’t just call opening round, Round 1?
WA would be better though as it'd help shut them up about travel. Oiling the squeaky wheel is a bit of an AFL thing I think. They might even dare to have a gather round in tassie. Split between Hobart and Launceston
Nice thought. They might even dare to have a gather round in tassie. Split between Hobart and Launceston
I wouldn't do it but you know the AFLNice thought.
Not enough stadiums, not enough head count, even with 2 for the price of 1.
That would be even more confusing for the morons who get confused by the concept of Opening Round not having a number - after the opening round teams have their bye, every round number would be one ahead of the game count, ie in round 8, every team would be playing their 7th game. Not sure why they don’t just call opening round, Round 1?
Yeh it’s so simple when you put it like thatThat would be even more confusing for the morons who get confused by the concept of Opening Round not having a number - after the opening round teams have their bye, every round number would be one ahead of the game count, ie in round 8, every team would be playing their 7th game.
I may have missed something here or I'm not quite getting your point. That would be even more confusing for the morons who get confused by the concept of Opening Round not having a number - after the opening round teams have their bye, every round number would be one ahead of the game count, ie in round 8, every team would be playing their 7th game.
And it's out for the 8 Opening Round teams before they have their first bye. But frankly who cares. It's an extra week of Friday night footy and I think it advantages the Pies to be taking part in it, so bring it on - Round 0 as a numbering system is stupid but who cares.I may have missed something here or I'm not quite getting your point.
As it stands this is what happens anyway. In round 24 every team is playing their 23rd match.
The round number is already ahead of the game count with the current system.

I wish the football season ran for 50 weeks.
