I'am sure you are all aware now that in todays Herald Sun Mike Sheahan named the West Coast Eagle player who nearly died in Las Vegas.

And i quote from Mike Sheahan's article

'Late last year, it was reported that a preimership player almost died on a recent players' trip to Las Vegas. The report did't mention drugs, but the industry soon knew exactly who had done exactly what'.

'The player supposedly is West Coasts 2006 premiership player Chad Fletcher, commonly believed to have almost died after an episode with an illicit substance that put him in hospital'.

So he names the player with out any solid proof, accuses him of using illicit substances, and uses words such as 'supposedly' to put together his article. Now we at Bigfooty, legally, because of this article are allowed to use Chad Fletchers name. Opposed to the 3 footballers that were actually caught by the AFL for using 'illicit substances'. Bit unfair on Chad isn't it?

If the player sues, it goes to court, Sheahan has to reveal his sources.

He would only have said it if he has bloody solid proof.

Same as Andrew Rule and his comments on Daniel Kerr.

Good on sheehan for lifting the rock. He is obviously sitting on some pretty damning evidence and seems to be daring the AFL and the Eagles to take him on.

This will be fascinating to watch over the next few days/weeks.

THey would lose in a second but is a player gonna interupt his whole season to sue these guys. Doubtful. The timing of these articles is interesting.

Third person heresay wont stand up in court mate but it will help sell papers.

I would say that Sheehan would have to have a piece of evidence hidden away somewhere. If it is untrue, Fletcher can sue him despite the use of the word 'supposedly'. If it is true, Fletcher is hardly going to do anything but make denials. Better to deny and maintain some sort of innocence than challenge legally and have your guilt confirmed.

Fletcher has been defamed here. The accuracy will depend on what his next step is.

Most definetely. Does Shehan actually have solid proof or is it all hersay? .

I thought West Coast Chad fletcher episode in Las vegas was due to a yellow fever injection or food poisoning  .

cover up.

You don't need a vaccination for yellow fever for travelling to mexico or cuba where the eagles where supposedly heading after vegas.

Nor is choking on your own vomit (or vomitting blood) one of the side effects.

Yes you do. You need that vaccine in all South American countries. I needed one when I went to Venezuela (its a hole)

Unless Sheehan has medical records (which would put him in jail for a long time) how could he have proof?
If he stole the medical records maybe but if they were provided by medical staff? I don't know that it is a crime to receive something that is not stolen. We are talking another country too, so I'm not sure that Fletcher would challenge the medical authorities over their privacy policies.

In my profession, I obtain medical records all the time. Mostly with the authority of the patient, but if they do not consent, we can still subpoena them. People think some records are sealed away forever and a day on their say so.

Ahhh, Venezuela is not Mexico. Here is a list of countries that require yellow fever vaccinations

Argentina
Bolivia
Brazil
Colombia
Ecuador
French Guiana
Guyana
Panama
Paraguay
Peru
Suriname
Trinidad and Tobago
Venezuela

Adverse Reactions
General Events

Reactions to yellow fever vaccine are generally mild. Vaccine recipients have reported mild headaches, myalgia, low-grade fevers, or other minor symptoms that may begin within days after vaccination and last 5-10 days after vaccination. In clinical trials, the incidence of mild adverse events has been ∼25%, but many events may have been unrelated, as the trials were not placebo-controlled. Approximately 1% of vaccinees find it necessary to curtail regular activities. Immediate hypersensitivity reactions, characterized by rash, urticaria, or asthma or a combination of these, are uncommon (incidence <1 case per 131,000 vaccinees). Unrecognized allergy to eggs or chicken or to the hydrolyzed gelatin used to stabilize the vaccine may be responsible for hypersensitivity reactions. Persons who have allergies to egg, chicken, or gelatin should be evaluated by an allergist to determine whether they can safely receive yellow fever vaccine.
