Carlton Blues eyeing Andrejs Everitt in trade deal with Bulldogs

I would be very dissapointed in the club if Everitt was to leave, has all the potential in the world just needs a proper pre season and some game time.

When we are screaming out for talls with talent why trade one of our best prospects for a second round pick in a shallow draft

Everitt attitude is a developing tall and you can clearly see his changing attitude in Rnd 22 against Collingwood. Determined and attacked the ball and the man, he will fill out more and learn to use his strength/size and power.

We may have a key forward in the making here people.....no trade

Greg suggests the Dogs have put up Everitt, he then goes on to suggest we will have salary cap problems and will need to end the careers of two players.

If this is not true then the timing of this is just outright wrong and the Club should act on Denham and his newspaper by banning them.

Can't see Everitt not being at the Bulldogs next year. Just signed a new contract so obviously he is keen to stay and we are keen to keep him. Unless Carlton offer us something really good then it just won't happen.

Agreed, it seems a complete load of shit to me.

Everitt for andrew walker.. i know it sounds kinda stupid coz of our midfield,, but look at geelong, you can never have to many good midfielders..

Agreed. In fact, I would ban Denham regardless.

He's just a muckraker. Nothing more, nothing less.

That is true, and having a recruiting strategy whereby you are trying to pick the best young talent from other clubs every year is only going to worsen the situation.

You have Judd on 1 + something Million a year, Fev on 700 or so, Stephens on plenty, then the young guys Murphy, Gibbs, Kruezer would be all heavily looked after. You went out and traded for Warnock last year who would be earning a fair packet. In summary, the bulk of your salary cap is being soaked up by 8 or so players. There is hardly much left over for the remaining 30 or so that have to fill up the list. Hence your huge disparity between the best and your worst.

You should try and get into the habit of getting the bulk of your quality players through the draft. Cheaper and easier to do. Yes, go out and get a star now and again from another club, but it should be the exception rather than the norm.

Clubs like Geelong win flags with A or B grade players through the whole 22. A club with 6 A graders, 1 B grader, and 15 C,D and E graders is never going to seriously challenge for a flag.

Might be the fact that we have had a couple of high profile trades in the last years, or the fact that the media seem to link us to everyone without much basis but the idea of the Carlton strategy being based on trading for players rather than developing their own is rubbish. Have a look through the list and you'll find the majority of talented young guys coming through have been with us from the start. A couple of years of draft exclusions also helps to explain the dearth of club developed talent from that period in time.

Judd was a coup, and every Melbourne club would have done everything possible to secure him. Warnock was brought in to address a list deficiency, much as you guys have tried to do with your rucks in recent years. Stevens essentially fell into our lap. Was the bi-product of a Port and Collingwood pissing contest.

And I think you might be under rating our list just a little. Much like you guys we are only a couple of key players away from being a genuine conteder.

Everitt - straight swap for either Hampson or Jamison. :thumbsu:

I wouldn't worry about the Dopey Denham article being disruptive though. Nobody reads the second rate rag anyway. :D

Denham is a tool.

He sounds like he is smoking a pack of durries and on the shitter when he is talking to KB on SEN.

He is a Bulldog hater and made an outrageous claim that we had the lowest membership of any Victorian club which was rightfully refuted by a caller.

I'd rather listen to that tossbag Patrick Smith.

Carlton chief executive Greg Swan confirmed yesterday his club's interest in the younger brother of recently retired ruckman Peter Everitt, but declared the Blues would not part with its first-round pick, No11 overall.

To clinch the deal, Swan said the Blues would be prepared to part with a second-round selection, which stands at No27 before the player-exchange period, which begins on October 5.

Surely, the conversation would go something like this...

Denham: So Greg, would Carlton be interested in a player like Everitt from the Dogs? He would be handy for you guys.

Swann: Yeah, we would certainly be interested in any quality young tall, if they were available.

Denham: So what would you have to give up to get a player like Everitt?

Swann: Oh probably a second-rounder.

Denham: Would you do that?

Swann: We would look at it.

No wonder the football media has such a bad reputation.

Probably the worst article in years. Carlton clearly want Matthew Spangher and are just using this rubbish as a diversion to lower his price. Obviously they didnt read that Everitt only recently re-signed

Oh dear Embers, at it again. You're having a bad run.

This is a damn sight better than the article from WA that linked Spangher to Carlton without any club source mentioned. At least this one mentions Swann. Everitt >>>> Spangher, and you know it. Not sure a deal will get done however, but I am glad we are interested in talking to the Dogs about it.

Those who claim to be in the know over (but are normally pretty spot on) at Talking Carlton have reported:

Everitt + Bulldogs 3rd round pick for Austin + Carltons 2nd round pick.

I dont know why Mark Austin would come into calculations for this trade ... after all he's Bryce Gibbs' best friend from Adelaide...

LOL wouldnt suprise me if Greg had an article next year talking about Gibbs joining the doggies.

I'm so surprised this has 5 pages. Absoloute baseless rumor. Everitt just signed on for 2 years but is upset with the club and coach. Yeah right Greg.

Move along, nothing to see here. Nothing will happen between the clubs in trade week.

Again, as with the Kangaroos (re Gibson) - Carlton have put Shaun Grigg and Steven Browne on the table.
where'd you see this? why is Grigg always put up... the kid has done more than what Everitt has ever done, plus with this year's injury prone season for him, his value would be really low... I would not do a Grigg / everitt trade...

plus I don't rate Everitt... same as I don't rate Spangher... I don't like the sound of the upcoming trade week.

oh please don't say it's true... I would never accept that... why would Everitt be rated higher than Austin...

Did anyone stop to think that the dogs are using Carlton to give young Everitt a public "rocket"?

No, not at all. We are still involved ina Finals campaign and Everitt is in the mix despite not being named. Why on Earth would they leak something like this to give him a Rocket.

It's a baseless and ridiculous rumor. Obviously Greg had nothing to write in his pathetic column this week.
