Carlton Blues eyeing Andrejs Everitt in trade deal with Bulldogs

Great in theory but Everitt has just signed a contract about a month ago. He can say he wants to go to Melbourne but he and they have no stronghold over any trade negotiations.

We rate Everitt very highly and didn't give him the No. 3 for nothing.
Yeah of course you can keep him if the right trade doesn't happen. Mark Robinson thinks he's "gone from the Bulldogs".

Do you really rate him very highly? The club doesn't seem to, that's why he wants to leave.

Here's another point. It's all well and good to say that Everitt was a first rounder but if memory serves me correctly he was actually expected to be picked up around the 20-30 mark before the Dogs interest became well known.

Sorry gandaal but what your saying doesn't make any sense. If the club doesn;t rate him then why did they resign him for 2 years a month ago. Why did they select him to play against Collingwood when we had other players at Willy who could have also played? And if he's not worth the first round pick we picked him up with why is there so much interest from other clubs. Surely 6 clubs wouldn't be chasing him and it wouldn't be such a talking point if he was a late 2nd round/3rd round pick. He may have been tipped to go later but I think the dogs speculative pick has paid dividends. He is definately worthy of the pick that was used to take him with.

I would give up all of our 30 year olds if it meant we kept Everitt.
He played great against the Pies.
Don't see the point in getting rid of him!
Brad Fisher is not worth speaking about either.

There is an article in todays herald sun that states his

- manager Ricky Nixon has been contacted by upto six clubs who are interested in the 20 year ols as they are of the opinion he may want more opportunity than he currently has,

- Nixon will now speak to Everitt as the Dogs final campaign has finished

The article also mentioned he recently signed a 2 year deal and it stated that James Fantasia at that time stated Andrejs along with the others who signed at the time were pivotal to the clubs future.

Its a weird one sounds like Dogs dont want to trade him Unless there is a great deal for them.

It cant be Andrejs wants out as he would not have signed a two year deal. If I wanted out I would not sign.

Its a little weird IMO.

Hope we keep Andrejs and he kicks on. He was stiff not to get more of a go this year. I think the policy of minimal changes during the year didn't do him any favours and didn't help us with selection decisions late in the year.

Why? Whats the point of it if we are not going to trade him?

All it is doing is making the player feel insecure and unwanted, and its not really a confidence booster in the young player. It also isn't a great move in earning loyalty and trust from the player. If he becomes a great player and at the end of his contract other clubs come knocking, he might look back and remember us shopping him around like a piece of meat(if this is whats happening ATM).

Who said we are not going to trade him. Everyone is for sale. We have six clubs biting at the Everitt bait and who knows what we could end up with.

Meh, seen what McIntosh, O'Keefe and Bruce (or was it Green) did this year after being possible trades makes me think it doesn't really matter once you're settle back in.

POSSIBLE TRADE
Guy O'Keefe + Dylan Addison + 1st rounder
for
Barry Hall + Lewis Johnston

I feel like it's not enough but If I swap any of our parties for Everitt I think we're giving too much.

Its a dangerous ploy if we end up not trading him.

Doing these kinds of things and it becoming public is one way to kill team spirit.

IMO there is a fair bit of hypocrisy in the whole thing. We are trying to get Lake to stay and accept a lot less money for the sake of "loyalty" and "the team". At the same time we sell the future of the club to Everitt, get him to sign a two year deal, and then hawk him around half the teams in the competition on the eve of our biggest final. Not a great way to earn the trust and respect of the playing group. How can we then in all honesty plead to Lakes sense of loyalty in getting him to sign way less then he could earn elsewhere.

From a players of point of view, I think that trade week(and the weeks before it) absolutely stink to high heaven. Clubs spend weeks, months and years building up the confidence of young players, selling them the idea of a future, sell them a feeling of belonging, and tell them how much potential they have. Then in one week of the year, they hawk them around in the massive meat market that is trade week.

If I was a player, I would be more than peed off and I know what I would be telling club officials when they say that I should accept way less at their club as a sign of loyalty.

The club may not be shopping him around it may be other clubs putting some scenarios to the club who will respond now that season is over. The fact he signed suggests to me he is content at the Dogs.

Other clubs may see it as simply, Everitt is 20 and has missed out on a finals campaign in a club were they lack talls so they see it as an opportunity to make an enquiry and see what happens.

Not sure the club has intiated this.

I don't think we're shopping him around. I think that other clubs are seeking him out. Thats a compliment to both him and the dogs.

Footy Classified (Hutchy) say he will go :(
To Carlton.
Might get a top 10 pick.
Where would the top 10 pick come from though?
Just sense this will come back and bite us on the arse one day if it occurs.

If we can get a pick inside the top ten for Everitt we should take it.
