According to several media sources in W.A (Chan 7 10 and radio) Carlton have held meetings with Ashley Hansen and his agent about joining Carlton next year. Carlton are acting on some advice given to them by Judd and may try and do a deal in the trade window. Hanen has 1 more year left on his deal. Eagles want to keep him but will trade for a good offer, and if Hansen wants the move or initialises the deal.

Good chance of this happening it seems. Alot of people are talking about it over here

Couldnt care less either way. Just reporting the strong rumors over here. Hansen is in the WAFL and unhappy. Woosha today came out with the whole required player line about Hansen. Hansen with agent in toe was out meeting some suits at Leederville last Wednesday.

Normally id dismiss it as crap but the dots are connecting and the people reporting this are about as trustworthy as it gets with the Eagles. Especially when one of the reporters is literally best friends with Hansens agent

If true, Carlton won't have to give up much, Hansen can't get a game and has a history of injuries, so to say the eagles will only trade is the offer is good would mean they will be keeping him.

Without being biased what would you trade for a player who can;t get a game and a history of injuries??

That's good, because you'll be stuck with him for another year. Not sure if you're aware, but Setanta is dominating at CHF and Matty Kruezer's a natural there as well. Best Weagles hang onto their immobile CHF types - you've got quite a few of them now.

Depends what we want I guess. Maybe a 2nd rounder given how shallow the draft is. Hansen is highly respected and we will do the right thing by him.

This is about as strong as a trade rumor gets at this time of year....WAYYYY too many people saying this is happening for it not to be true

Still dreaming, as i said injury prone and can't get a game in the 12th placed side in the comp, that says to me late 3rd or 4th pick, somewhere around 50. is fair.

Regardless if he is highly respected and a nice guy, he can't get on the park, from all accounts Richard Hadley was well respected and actually wanted at Brisbane, and he is a top bloke, we got him for pick 53...so Hansen is no better.

Hansen may be a dud, but like I said on the eagles thread, Judd has his reasons. He knows you are no chance with just Fev up forward.

Having played with Hansen he knows his strengths, one being his leading ability, especially at the ball carrier.

Basically he wants Hansen to create space for Fev to run into, he's also betting that your current midfield can get plenty of the footy in years to come.

Judd also knows Kruezer and Setanta can get picked each week and actually be fit enough to play week in week out.

Using the "can't get a game in the 12th placed side in the comp" line is pretty lazy. Hansen is essentially a pure CHF and we have a much better one in Kennedy regardless of where we are on the ladder. Hansen is far better then your CHF of Setanta.
