deluxeman said:I am not saying delist all our duds this year but frankly Carlton have so far only delisted 5 players and if the only player to go is Campo, then Carlton simply are not doing enough.
If we delisted three more duds this year there would still be plenty to delist by the end of the next year. Surely the following players would not be around by the end of 2006 barring a huge change of form: Prenda, Bannister, DAvies, Wiggins, Longmuir, Chambers, Campo. Then there are also players such as Sporn and Livo who are on their last chances next year and also it could well be Kouta's last year.
Delisting a further 2-3 players this year leaves us with at least 5-6 players to go next year which is more than enough for the draft.
It seems you dont understand the way the list is determined. I will break it down for you.
Oct 31 is the first important date.
By then lists have to be cut to 35 at least. Rookie listed players needed to be sorted (retained, promoted or cut). Father/son picks need to be determined either way for the upcoming draft.
This is where we are at right now. We have cut 5 players and picked up 1 in the draft. We seem to have sorted our rookie list out.
That is step number 1.
Not the final step.
The next date is Nov 18 when we lodge our list for the 2nd time.
The draft is held on November 26.
December 2 is when we lodge our list for the 3rd and final time. Our Total Player Payments (TPP) are worked out by the AFL. They then determine if we can participate in the PSD (salary cap room).
PSD is held on Dec 13.
Hope that clears things up.
We have cut a few players and made decisions on our rookies. After looking at who re-signs with us (Lappin or Campo) and our salary cap for next year. Who is available in the PSD. Who is contracted for next year. Who we take in the draft we can then determine our final list. Leaving room for 1 spot on the list and the required salary to take who we want in the PSD.
