Barrett....didn't take long.

Let me see if I’ve got this right:

1. Barrett (the media) bangs on all week long about why Harry isn’t playing

2. Club names Harry in the Friday night side

3. Barrett subsequently blames the club for any “unnecessary media focus” in the match coverage

4. Barrett attempts to reclaim good bloke status saying he likes it and reckons Harry will kick four

Kudos to you Damian

If they didn't select him he'd be all over us for not picking him and suggesting the media will continue to ball over it.

We do pick him and now we're just giving in to all the pressure are inviting further media scrutiny.

Who cares what that muppet has to say really, he's wrong more often than he's right, both in opinion and the "news" he allegedly breaks.

100% this. Prior to today the club had said nothing of substance. Know it all’s here came up with all sorts of other reasons which couldn’t have been addressed sufficiently to warrant a return this week (unless posture in a stadium seat was one of his many and varied failings).

Very happy with Bolton’s presser today.
Didn't really say anything we didn't know but more importantly didn't give a proper rational explanation for what went on the past 6 weeks.
The reason he was managed/dropped after rd 10 was officially to get continuity but he's played only a couple of VFL games since so he shouldn't really be coming back yet according to that reasoning. I know there was an injury to Phillips but that's not why.
It's obvious the pressure built and they blinked, should've been playing last week but at least he's in now.
Excited for his game tonight.

Continuity can mean at training too. It’s not just about games.

First full, detailed run down of the issues recently that have not seen him play eg flu. ‘Consistency’ can mean many things.

If it was leading patterns, attitude etc, the MC would have lost all credibility in picking him this week. Given he couldn’t improve them without playing last week.

It was a clear, unambiguous message that supported the decision to select harry now. Credit to Bolton. Hope he now plays out the season and he’s coached within the team.

Spot on

If he did do a mini preseason over 4-6 block, his game time would have been curbed

Neil Craig did this with the Crows, majority of his players, during a 4 week block in the latter half of a season.

Similar to cyclists and swimmers, then taper before finals

I think you meant consistency or perhaps it was predictive text malfunction.
Really Mr Barrett, so the fact he was named in the nb best the week before, he was then named emergency and then we lose a tall means nothing. It would have been blinking if both Phillips / Kruez were fit, inform and available and Harry was promoted.

More importantly, hope Harry plays well and provides that consistency of effort and approach so that he guarantees being picked.

5. Harry doesnt kick 4 (or any), pot the club by bowing to pressure and playing a kid who is not ready.

Actually I tipped Harry to kick 4. Clearly, I am Damien Barrett.

Liddle suggested that there will be some re-signings to announce next week.

Well....there's really only the one we all care about. Think it's going to happen.
it's all in the hyphen, harkmanistan...

I've never seen a signature so certain to happen, not actually happen for this long.

If Cripps re-signing isn't announced next week, then there may start to be cause for concern.

Is anyone else deadset amazed by how much we are talked about? In the past week alone there has been articles on
-Harry McKay - Where is he at
-Should we trade pick 1 for more picks
-Do we need to lose against Brisbane to ensure pick 1
-Brendon Bolton - Has never played the game before - is he the right man
-Should we go after Shiel
-Murphy as captain
-Do we have mental issues at the club
-Is the salary cap penalties still hurting us
-Do we need lukosious
-Our leadership problems at the club
-Toxic culture
-Whats gone wrong and who is to blame
-Is Brisbane ahead of us now

Along with the fact we say we dont want a priority pick and were slammed. If we said we did want one we wouldve got slammed. Then KCornes saying we said we dont but we actually do. You cant win

We are talked about so much more than any club its astounding. We are bottom of the ladder who cares
Allow me to explain:

These people are shit journalists. Shit journalists struggle to provide sound analysis in the broader scheme of things, so they pick the obvious options and do that until they get fired or someone gifts them insight.

We're the easy target, so watch them whack that pinata until the candy supply runs out.
