It's easy. " who will finish higher in 2025"
It's basic stuff
If that were the thread title, it would be 'pretty basic stuff'.

But with the thread title being 'who will be better', allows us to reasonably consider all the data to make a determination as to the answer.

And after considering all the data for 2024, the answer is Collingwood, despite the 2024 version of Carlton's team being the best version since the turn of the century, and Collingwood's 2024 team being about the 16th best version since the turn of the century.

You make great points as usual Fadgicus Maximus.
Carlton lost more games than Collingwood.
Carlton choked and disappointed it's fans in more games than Collingwood.
Carlton lost twice to Collingwood.
Carlton were gifted a considerably easier draw.
If you asked the coaches of the 7 other teams in finals "who would you most like to play in finals? Carlton or Collingwood? You can guarantee a unanimous response of "Carlton".

For these reasons the answer to this thread is clearly "Collingwood".

Point 1 - Carlton won more games than Collingwood
Point 2 - go do a survey of all the coaches in the finals before you start imagining what the responses are.
Point 3 - the difficulty of the fixture is subject to opinion. You have yours , and we have ours and they are totally opposite according to my abacus

Yeah, we know.

B2B finals appearances for Carlton. Amazing achievement - is that the first time it's happened this century?

Do you think the club will release a DVD to celebrate the historic occasion?
Haven't you heard of smart television yet?

Great minds!

Do you think we'll ever see Carlton genuinely contend for a premiership again?
It's a good question worth pondering Fadge.
As we have proven with the algorithm, Carlton are a 29.6% probability of extending their premiership drought out to 50 years. But that means they are a 70.4% probability of winning a flag by 2045. Those are good odds in their favour.
But I don't think it will be with this group. They are mentally fragile and too prone to choking. Will need a new coach who can formulate a decent game plan too.

My guess is they will need a full rebuild and if it goes well they could be contending again in the mid to late 2030's.

But to have success the whole club will also need a cultural rebuild too. Failure and choking are so ingrained it will take a long time to clear out. They will need to flood the club with non Carlton people to drive out their entrenched loser culture.

It's pretty clear to me Carlton is in a better place to contend moving forward. They've got all critical positions tied up with McKay, Curnow, De Koning, Cripps, Weitering. With a decent injury run they could have easily been premiers this year but I also think if they can find some small forwards to contribute in front of goal they should improve.

Which squib changed the thread title?
Hilarious... Obviously some loser.
