Don't you love how Carlton supporters are suggesting that the club having the 'pressure' on them by being one of the premiership favourites is a bad thing....

Gee, they really have been scarred over the past quarter of a century!
Could be why they've seemingly given up on the current group already and have gone back to one of their "5 year plans"...
Being stuck in rebuild mode is less pressure than becoming a genuine contender.

Is there a latest '5 Year Plan'?

I must have missed that one...
The Carlton 5 year plan 2025 is an 11 step blueprint.

Step 1. Try to shove our best small forward and a few other regular experienced best 23 players out the door.
Step 2. Recruit a 32 year old cooked key defender.
Step 3. Refuse to recruit gun AA Carlton supporting star who wants to come.
Step 4. Recruit the guy who did the Schultz and Ginnivan trades.
Step 5. Have no luck with step 1 so retain players who we tried to shove out the door and then marvel at how highly motivated they are to play for us.
Step 6. Draft lots of 18 year Olds with a 50% chance of making it.
Step 7. Expect to win a premiership somehow.
Step 8. Be disappointed when we don't win a premiership.
Step 9. Sack the coach.
Step 10. Appoint Buckley as coach.
Step 11. Begin a new rebuild and 5 year plan.

You know.. .. normal Carlton shit!

Magnificent.

And so accurate!

Colonwood had one umpire assisted year and were given a flag by the barest of margins. Hate the Baggers but this thread needs to be closed down. Embarrassing

yep, as I’ve said before dimma, clarko had every right to go all out for a last flag, they won 3 of them over a dominant period.

pies tin-ass’d 1 flag and fell back to the pack not even making finals, yet are trying to go down the same route.

will be hilarious when they bottom out and waste daicos’ best years. maybe he will end up asking for a trade to the team he supported as a kid.

Has your spoon arrived yet?

Another Richmond supporter buddying up with Carlton.

Misery needs company.
They are receiving tips on what it's like to amass so many spoons in a short period of time. Richmond will be contending at a minimum of 4 spoons in a row and will make Carlton look like a successful team in comparison. :$

With no more father sons on the horizon their future looks enjoyably bleak.
Is it going to be anywhere near as bad as Carlton's 2001 to current day (with no relief in sight)?

Because that period has been extremely 'enjoyable' for Collingwood supporters, given we've contended for the premiership regularly over that time.

In what time? The only form that counts is the latest form and that says you're down in Mexico with all the rest of the strugglers and a list that's ready for a nursing home.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We heard the same thing after 2021, and guess what happened?

See, Collingwood don't spend multiple decades at a time out of premiership contention. We leave that to the likes of Carlton and Richmond.

Richmond 3 premierships in 8 years dwarfs whatever the Pies have done.

When I originally posted about it, it was a reference to the locked and loaded best 22 players, on the basis no team necessarily has a best 22, and players ranked 16 to 30 could be considered best 22 based on form, opposition, etc.

Cerra (11) and Docherty (22) the only players from Carlton's absolute best team missed more than 6 games.

Conversely, Collingwood had McStay (18), Mitchell (17), De Goey (10), Mihocek (12), Elliott (8) and Cox (7) miss more than 6 games.

Cox the only questionable one amongst that list, but he hasn't missed a game when he's been available in the three years McRae has been coaching. The other 5 would comfortably be in Collingwood's best and most important 10 to 12 players.
I would dispute Mitchell still being part of your best 15. Surely you get more out of a promising young mid?

I really don’t recall the commentary around Collingwood post-2021 being that grim.

You had a shocking year and most punters were just unsure how you’d go with a new coach.

You’re embellishing massively.

Post-2025 you’ll have no draft picks, champions retiring & a bare cupboard of quality youth besides Daicos.

It’s not apples and apples.
