AFLW 2024 - Round 8 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
I take it back Essendon were better.
Cmon mate, it's Dan Houston. We're not talking AFL immortals here. GwS missing on buddy franklin was a much bigger stuff upHe would have given his left nut to get to Carlton
It's the biggest stuff up since the Pies missed Bernie Quinlan in the 70s, will reverberate for decades
Is that 3 time premiership player Brian Lake you are referring to ?It's like picking up Brian Lake. Master Stroke
Even though both the forward lines and back lines have improved from our 2023 premiership year? The holes arent limited to either end.
Both forward and backlines for Collingwood are a long way from being elite in 2025.
This is what will hold them back.
It will be pick 4.Pick 3 get it right.
You keep going back to the well don't you. Oh well (pun intended) when that's all you've got, that's all you've got.Even though both the forward lines and back lines have improved from our 2023 premiership year?
Oh sorry, I forgot. That premiership was just a fluke.
You know, he only averages 1 goal every 4 games. Don't expect it to change too muchHouston will just bang through goals himself on the run from outside 50.
Pies also value having a spread of goal kickers, and mids who can hurt...unlike Carlton who just rely on Harry and Charlie (who goes missing in finals).
I much rather talk about this season where Pies ended up in Mexico.Even though both the forward lines and back lines have improved from our 2023 premiership year?
Oh sorry, I forgot. That premiership was just a fluke.
Virtually best defence = somehow finished 9th.Multiple avenues to goal and elite conversion per I50 means we have plenty of goal kicking power.
Murphy was a big loss but our defence is still far better than Carlton’s, and virtually every other team.
Yeah, a recent premiership is a pretty handy thing to have though, isn't it?You keep going back to the well don't you. Oh well (pun intended) when that's all you've got, that's all you've got.

He joined in June, which coincided with.....He has been waiting to the end of the trade period, he's a thinker.
Forget about 2023 Pies are Mexican citizens now.Yeah, a recent premiership is a pretty handy thing to have though, isn't it?
Maybe maybe not.He joined in June, which coincided with.....
No wonder he's been very quiet til now.
Or, maybe there's another reason?
I joined in June. That's not 6 monthsJeepers.
Bale Dup has had a fair bit to say today after previously having had 5 posts in the last 6 months...
Again. If you like bringing up the past it is.Yeah, a recent premiership is a pretty handy thing to have though, isn't it?
Words on a page. That's all that is. Got anything to back up this "prediction"?Looking at Carlton it's becoming obvious that they're going to continue their slide next year, but the main reason is because fundamentally Voss is a bog average coach. Can see them following a similar trajectory to the Brisbane side he managed. Even with a piss easy draw they fell into the finals and embarrassed themselves.
I look at their team and their goal kicking spread is really bad and gets even worse next year because they lost Owies, the midfield has no pace or finesse or genuine creativity, the backline is filled with absolute spuds and overall the gameplan is lacking. Also the injuries are not bad luck at this point, it's a product of bad list management that goes back years and is becoming an excuse.
Oh yes suddenly Owies is a superstar lol, and after all you just typed we finished ahead of the Pies. Now what does that say about them?Looking at Carlton it's becoming obvious that they're going to continue their slide next year, but the main reason is because fundamentally Voss is a bog average coach.
