Hmm, can't imagine this will go down well.

Obviously we are all lemmings who will watch it even if it's a terrible game and blows out.

Which is the best argument to keep it but at the same time the best argument to change.

I'd watch GWS v Gold Coast or whatever else would be the lowest rating game. Or Brisbane v Carlton if you use ladder positions to determine the lowest standard game.

Honestly, even as a Richmond supporter who will witness an absolute belting from our boys in the season opener, I would rather see a team like the Western Bulldogs get the opportunity to play in front of a packed MCG to kick off the season. Bad choice from the AFL in my opinion, and that is an unbiased view of the situation.

Like it. Big blockbuster events are good for footy. Carlton and Richmond have put a bit of work into it and pleased to see it continue.

Hopefully not one game then a week's break before the rest of the round though?

As a part of the new fan friendly approach under Gil's regime, the AFL have heeded the fans' calls for less Carlton on Friday night.

The AFL is pleased to announce Carlton will not appear in any Friday night games next season, and instead are proud to reveal an extended Thursday night schedule of 10 games, 8 will feature the exciting, young and promising Carlton, you won't want to miss Thursday night footy!

They must do the fixture in Bizarro World
