Carlton will beat St.Klda

We will be looking for Bower to limit Riewoldt as he has done to Buddy in the past. Our best chance is for Riewoldt to do what he does best and lead out to 50 and beyond. Bower is a good rebounder

What Riewoldt does well is repeated gut running, any additional exercise his opponent wishes to indulge in is a plus for Riewoldt. Other than being quick and tall Buddy and Riewoldt play the game very differently.

Not directed at you ODN, but it's amazing how often he's criticised for running up to the wing when it's so obvious that he's setting his opponent up for the 4th or 5th effort closer to goal, though in fairness that's not something that can necessarily be gleaned from watching a game on TV versus being there live. I've seen references to his ability in "junktime" too, no surprises here that the longer the quarter goes the better off he is over 90% of his opponents.

i think fevola can be a deadly danger.

if st kilda can quell fevola its should increase our chances dramatically.

if fevola has one of "THOSE" games, it will be interesting.

the thing is, hte difference between his best and his worst is wide wide wide gulf.

as a saints fan, im hoping for a petulant dummy spitting fevolla as he often seems to bring his team mates down.

if scarey arrogant, goals scoring from 60m virus turns up, then game on IMO.

As much as I want to beat the Saints, I don't think we will this week. Hopefully it's tight, but if the Blues can't handle the pressure (like Adelaide game) we will cop a spanking.

Not a good argument to make when the Roos ran out of "players" on the weekend. An argument can be made that this was the reason why the Saints won on the weekend.

FWIW, I think the Saints will win, but what chance that the BF rocket scientists will all come out in force after the game, lamenting how bad St Kilda were, if in fact the Blues do manage to get a win, regardless of how well they play!

Saints to win by 20.

We have a winner!

Couldn't be closer to the truth.

Indeed, But that's only because St. Kilda are the new Geelong! ;)

You mean like all f the Blues supporters after Carlton lost to Essendon?:rolleyes:

Actually, I'm planning on using the Essendon line when you played Geelong.

'... apart from the first three quarters, we pretty much matched them for the rest of the game !' :p:

I can't recall anyone saying that. There might have been a few Essendon supporters who said it but this can't be compared to the outrage and constant bombardment by the vast majority of Blues supporters who were adament that Essendon only beat the Blues because of 1 free kick to Lloyd and also because Carlton didn't play well.

I find it quite amusing that Blues supporters are now talking up the prospects of other supporters doing it if the Blues beat the Saints when it is clear that Blues supporters are the masters of this.

Quite embarrassing actually.

Sorry - forgotten that you Essendon supporters had no sense of humour. :p:p

You are generalising there. The reason we lost that game is Fev kicked terribly. 4 goals 7 behinds was unacceptable for a guy who gets paid to kick goals!

The vast majority. Do you want me to post a link to the threads on the Carlton board after the game? The overriding consensus was that Carlton either lost because of 1 free kick paid to Lloyd or that Carlton just played crap or a combination of both.

Any comment on Carlton v St Kilda or just a social comment on the folly of BigFooty posting?

I'd like to think Carlton can beat the Saints on their merits, rather than if the Saints are off the boil, but it will all happen with matchups and gameplan.

I'd say we are about a 20% chance currently. Having won our last two games against lesser opposition than St Kilda, probably is not a good thing for our players who seem to rest on their laurels far too often.

Sure i do mate. I was just responding to a Blues poster who made a social comment on the folly of BigFooty posting.

I would be surprised if Carlton got within 4 goals. I think their midfield will be far too strong and will give first use of the ball to Roo and Kozi. I have been impressed with Bowerand i rate him as a player but i think he will find it tough on Roo.

Of course, his social comment just related to the topic, that's all.

I don't see the Saints midfield as being stronger than ours by any stretch. I just think their well defined game plan and their intensity is better. You wouldn't call the Essendon midfield better than the Carlton midfield, but it certainly appeared that way when we met due to a range of other factors. (Let's not go off topic and discuss that game however, it's just an analogy).

You're bragging about your lack of football knowledge on a football forum?

One question

"Why?"

it doesnt really matter what i know about st kilda cause basically i never worried too much about that side because they are pretenders. Carlton will prove that tomorrow night

So you hope your team will do well, but you don't worry too much about teams that beat you every time you play?
