Taking 2 first rounder helps with other AFL rules, so whilst we might have lost the ability to get a future 2nd, we've now got the ability to trade out first rounders for the next few years
You’re right, someone pointed that out last night too. I think it’s more important to have that flexibility, although time will tell.

Who would we trade up for?

And who would we be happy to just take at 44?

Help me out gurus!
I'd be very happy with Sharp or Bianco if we trade up and only trade something like future 2nd rounder of any value and some later pick.
I's also be happy with a mature aged late pick as a forward like Sokol.
But I'll trust the people in charge as what they been doing since 2015 gets big thumbs up from me.

Many ways to cut it

Trade future 1sts with a club that has multiple 2nd round picks this year, North, Crows, Lions, etc

let’s keep our first next year please.
Well established now that Richmond would have taken Philp if not for Carlton.

That is incorrect. Source, Richmond recruiting team.

My opinion...should have taken Thompson Dow and still would have had Sam Philp with later pick. Comments?

Unlikely, I think. He was generally rated as goimg in the 20s. More importantly, he has quite a specific skills set in speed and burst that is in quite high demand (rather than just being generally solid). I think someon would have taken him in the 20s at least and he definitely wouldn’t have lasted until our next pick.
