We certainly had the benefit of that last year.

Where is the intel on Powell though? Sound like we are keen to add to our midfield, and I like the number of quality mids that'll slip through (how is Macrae not an obvious top 10 pick with his IQ?), and Richmond's pick sits in a pot we may even be able to grab someone like Bruhn or Henry if we're fortunate.

It's the kind of open slather pool that'll produce some genuine opportunities to grab a gun if you play your cards right.

Maybe even someone like Perkins will get through?

Not sure I agree.

No issue with a kid saying he won’t perform at his best under certain circumstances.

This is different to refusing to go somewhere.

Would have also thought that clubs would want to know this in advance so not to use a pick up on a kid that genuinely doesn’t want to be somewhere.

And it's fine if that's all it is.

But it stands to reason that once it becomes a "done thing" then you'll have every other player claiming its best for their mental health if they stay in their home state. Why wouldn't they?

Given everyone seems to be valuing future picks higher than this year's, I can't see it being our future first for 17. More likely to be our future second and change.

I agree, only time we trade a future 1st would be to get into the top 12 this year if the right player was still available

Most of us were saying similar things about the Saad trade. He's not worth pick 8. It won't be pick 8. Pick 8 goes out the door...

Chance of a Bo Callahan slide from Perkins but all the way to us at 31?

Perkins is someone I'd look to trade up for.

We have quite a few stock standard midfielders like Powell. E.g. Walsh, Setterfield, Stocker, Philp, Ramsay, Dow, Ed and Gibbons. They're all very good players. Well, Walsh is exceptional, but none of them can drift forward and be a threat like Perkins (note: assuming Perkins develops into a midfielder).

We need something different which makes us more dynamic.

Cheers.

So we are very keen on adding another mid to our current mix, and are floating a number of options depending on how the first 10-15 picks go.

Don't mind Powell - bit of Lachie Neale about him. Definitely lack some natural accumulators, and he certainly fits the bill.

That's not even remotely the same thing.

If anything, it reinforces that this year's picks aren't rated as highly by clubs.

Trading 10-14 in a strong draft for 17 in a weaker draft doesn't add up. More likely that Richmond are willing to trade 17 in a weak draft, if there aren't any sliders they like, for 20+ in a stronger draft.

You'd think that, but it probably won't work out that way.

If there's more than one buyer, we'll have to cough up our future first.

Does this Daniel Cherny from the age get good info?

Has Tom Powell going at Richmond pick 17, but now saying talk of * taking him with one of there picks. Probably our pick😳

It sounds like Essendon will trade the pick they acquired in the Saad trade for 2 x first rounders (potentially with Collingwood), so it could well be the case but they'll take him with either 14 or 16.

Knighmare's phantom has a number of favourites around here still available after our current picks

Potentially indicates that some of the players with good athletic profiles may have less publicly visible deficiencies that have turned up during interviews with clubs.
