Be a tough ask for someone who is currently an assistant coach at Hawthorn.

Even if he wasnt I doubt that he would make a good pres or would want to be one. There would be plenty of roles at the club that he would be perfect for though should he be interested. Let's hope that it happens one day.
Mark Maclure would have been a good choice who loves the club take no crap and been in the Media although just heard has early signs of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Mike Fitzpatrick would be a great choice and someone like like Justin Madden how about Adrian Gleeson, David Glascott or Tom Alvin.

Generally speaking ex footballers don't make good presidents. Fitzy would be good but he is 71 and may not want the hassle.

Plenty of good candidates that aren't ex players though. The current board seem to be running the ship well so I'm sure that they'll come up with a decent candidate.

Sellers was seen at the movies recently…

The “I don’t remember the conversation with the ATO” line either made him incompetent or negligent or both. I still think Carlton voting members (my membership doesn’t qualify me to vote) should have been a bit more intrigued on what the whole affair suggested about his leadership credentials.

I have a close mate who works for PwC who reckons it is a hollowed out shell of a company in the wake of the work it has subsequently lost.

Scyne took a heap of the contracts with it but they're also cutting headcount

Any chance of getting a footy person in as president rather than these corporate bigwigs or is that delusional?
Most recent premiers and their presidents:

2024: Lions: Andrew Wellington; finance guy

2023: Pies: Jeff Browne; Media executive

2022: Cats: Craig Drummond; transurban ceo

2021: Dees: Kate Roffey; ceo of sporting/building projects

2020/19/17: Tigers: Peggy Oneal; Lawyer

2018: Eagles: Russell Gibbs; Commercial property

In fact, the last AFL president to have even a reasonable playing career from my (admittedly limited) research is Dalton Gooding who played 9 years in the WAFL before being president of the Eagles for their 2006 premiership.

You’d think it would make a difference but all of the presidents in charge of successful clubs are business people

CFC is a multifaceted business entity (football, Carlton College of Sport, now medical imaging, etc), with many commensurate legislative requirements, connecting with many corporate and government entities and community groups, and with Revenue for 2024 of around $97 million, with also a core business of being a successful football club. Membership on the board would now be on a skills basis, with the President needing a broad skill set. Normally the next President would have been an existing member of the board, and I see no reason why this couldn't be the case for us... Patty Kinnersly...?

No Craig is the Chairman of Transurban.

Bank Analyst at JBWere > Head of Equities at JBWere > CEO Goldman after T/O CEO of Merryl Lynch > CFO NAB > CEO Medibank Private > Chairman Transurban >has been a Director at Geelong for years before stepping itno President role. Good Geelong Grammar kid and decent human being but a golf hack.

Glascott? From my understanding, rarely seen around the club. I chatted to him at a SOC function a few years ago , flat out denied every teaching at a high school I went to (he was my PE teacher and football coach). Claimed he didn't recall ever working there. If Sellers is showing signs of dementia, Glascott might already have it.

That's the technical term used when contacting a platform about getting your account back. Some accounts are breached via password guessing, most are done via stolen or phished credentials.

And all of that is assuming someone didn't just take your details from your home/office/device without your permission.

Anywho, given all the careful wording, I'd suggest the photo is authentic but it's unclear if there was an affair with a - presumably unnamed - third party.
Yeah I get the terminology, but when you draw specific attention to a word using quotes, it usually means you are quoting directly or in a more superficial sense.

The AFL investigated the matter through its integrity unit and concluded on Wednesday that Sayers' account was compromised and that he did not breach AFL rules. (Would be a statement of fact)

The AFL investigated the matter through its integrity unit and concluded on Wednesday that Sayers' account was "compromised" and that he did not breach AFL rules. (suggests using the word in it's loosest sense.)

I'm not suggesting he had an affair, I don't have any insight into the matter beyond that it looks like the media are skeptical with the way it was worded as above.

Anyway, I've already given this way too much more thought than I'd like and am moving on...
