Pretty certain that Greenwood and Phillips haven't been bad this year. Don't understand the rationale for leaving them out and still giving chances to actual potatoes. Will is part of our future at the very least, quite a lot of these others aren't. It's very annoying
The only thing I can think of is that both are contracted beyond this year (surely Greenwood hit his triggers), so if Clarko's #1 priority is figuring out who is taking us forward for the next 18 months, those two are already factored in.

There seems to be 2 or 3 positions each week that seem designated to separating the wheat from the chaff.

As someone who actually wants to enjoy gameday, I agree its frustrating.

Happy for Phillips to rip the VFL apart for a few weeks, no hurry with him especially with Jy and LDU in the same side. We have to see what out of contract guys like Perez, Laz and Mahony have. Imo Mahony started as a nice looking Patch type but was destroyed by Noble: I still think there’s a footballer in there somewhere, by all reports nowhere near it in vfl but **** it give the little man a go.

Laz = nah but may as well give him a shot too, can’t be worse than Hall. Perez is the interesting one, looked the epitome of hard, fast and skilful his first few games but injuries might have put paid to that. Sunday will be very interesting.

FYI:
Clarke vs Lyon: 10 w, 1 d, 4 l (!!)

The interesting thing about logue was that he knew he was coming to north to play as a defender and that’s what clarkson sold to him. I get you need to help the team out, but I wonder how he takes this and if it will actually be useful.
Still don’t get why we don’t go for Greenwood as a high half forward

it would be a 1 week thing at most anyway
ccj back next week to play the second key tall that can ruck

I originally thought that Logue to CHF this week makes sense. Assuming the priority is winning the game.
But since then, its occurred to me that figuring out whether Mckay, Logue and Corr can actually form the nucleus of a finals-worthy backline is probably the greater priority.
At the moment that's seriously questionable. And McKay's contract situation means we need the answer sooner rather than later.
Putting Logue in CHF just delays that decision.

There's certainly been worse players than Greenwood and WillPhill. Head scratcher for sure.

Shooting st goal? Logue fwd

Surely Hall aint dropped after a million disposals?

If Halls picked there does seem to be 8 defenders though. I suspect 1 is likely fwd and probs a tall Mckay or Logue
Hall sucks. Don’t worry about him getting a million disposals, he’s getting them because he’s letting his opponents waltz into open goals.

Hardly Gavin Wanganeen with his disposals either. Injuries aside, if he is dropped I’d wager we’d never see him again.

Mahoney to reignite his career with a bag of 9 goals

They should try to use Mahoney to deliver the ball I50. Smart user and always looks for the short option, rather than just kicking it as far as possible*.

* Yes, I know he isn't the longest kick!!

Have him and Curtis effectively run laps of the attacking 50 causing chaos

I view this week’s game as the “proper” start of the Clarkson era. The first seven rounds was just essential “housekeeping”. From here on in, I fully expect all our 2+ year young players to be given an opportunity to show whether they can make the cut. The older guys will be used only to cover injuries (apart from Jack, Cunners and Goldie).
