Came across this from Twitter:

Jordon sweet played in 5 games this year

Dogs were 4/5 wins in that time

Dogs won clearances in every of those games.

In those games he rucked against Gawn/Jackson, Ryder, Pittonet and Ladhams

But Beveridge thinks Young who played chb all year is a better option.

Had no clue of these stats.

We won the clearance differential in all 5 of his matches and first possessions as well as scores from stoppages in 3 out his 5.

R5 vs. Gold Coast

+11 hitouts to advantage

+23 points scored from stoppages

R8 vs. Carlton

So much for being smashed against Gawn.. didn’t go that bad?

Ok so Martin isn’t fit. I don’t care if that’s true or bs at this point let’s assume it’s true. At least then pull the trigger on Marra so that English can be rotated through the ruck for periods. Surely he can attack 6 or 7 mins a quarter to support Young. The team selection basically concedes to Draper. Only works if the mids are running red hot which they aren’t.

This ‘Young wasn’t to bad in the ruck’ rhetoric is utterly warped.

In the 4th qtr v Port when the game was to be won he was getting rag-dolled by a b grade ruckman purely due to size and fatigue. Draper will go close to incarcerating him on Sunday.

It’s not the blokes fault, and he tried his heart out last week, but it’s bringing a pocket knife to a gun fight. I want to believe but it’s friggen hard at the present. Sweet should have been playing the moment Bruce went down.

He had 3 disposals (one of which was one he fumbled an easy pickup and turned it over), 67% time on ground and was a complete and utter liability for anything that wasn't directly involved with wrestling Gawn. Gawn also had 21 touches - above average for him.

If you're conceding 18 more touches than your ruck opponent, that's a smashing.

The questions from whateley weren't exactly positive either and Bont and Bevo were responding to those questions. Agree that they looked flat, but hard to be up and about when the questions are of a particular tone.
Whateley's been big on Bulldogs all year so probably as perplexed as most of us by the big slide. It was either he or Robbo(if there) to put it to the chaps.

Of course he has just not in public. How many great coaches do it in public in any sport?
I’m not sure Dunks and Treloar can defy the laws of biology. If it was that easy no player would comeback rusty.
McCarthy?
Don’t think so, not in the manner needed.

To answer your own question, Google Alastair Clarkson Spray. Add to that the rage guys like Hodge, Lewis and Mitchell would dish out when necessary.

Last year Hardwick famously launched into his players before the 4th quarter against Freo. They only lost one more game for the year. The next week they had a season defining win against Geelong. To steady their position in the top four.

What’s there to be excited about for them both? Didn’t expect smiles. Bont under the pump after a poor month, Bevo copping it left right and centre and we’ve just choked to 5th spot. They can smile if we play like a tight unit Sunday.
I wasn’t suggesting they should look happy. They should look determined. Looked like they’ve thrown in the towel.

I still think Bailey Smith should be given a run with role. He has the speed and agression to do it and it'll force him to be accountable. I'm sure he'd still end up being damaging too with his offensive instincts.

There’s a few players that need to work on just one thing and it would elevate their game.

Bailey Smith - Actually having a look before he takes a kick

Tim English - Added aggression in the ruck. Stop being so damn timid. It doesn’t matter if he loses the contest here and there as long as he makes it harder for the other ruckman

Lewis Young- Similar to smith, composure and not looking to immediately pass off the ball to someone next to him or kicking it to space without looking

Schache - Much the same as English but in a forward role. His leading patterns are great when he’s not being manned up but terrible when he is. Assert yourself for Pete’s sake.

If the last 3 weeks has shown anything it’s that these pea hearts can’t be bothered when it gets too hard. Bontempelli is the most overrated player in the AFL, true leaders and stars drag their team over the line. Beverage is the most delusional coach going around but the selections are irrelevant, this joke of a club have already pulled up stumps on the season.

😂😂😂

Extremely harsh. Bont has dragged us over the line multiple times this year...

I’m stuck in a never ending lockdown with nothing to do, and I don’t know if I’ll even watch. The result just feels so inevitable and avoidable.

I mean, I’m a masochist so I’ll still watch

We can’t expect our players to front up and go hard if we don’t too.

Time to fire up and enjoy the footy. Don’t let the covid blues drag us down when the bulldog spirit needs to shine!!!

Cede nullis!!

This is me in a nutshell. Like watching a slow moving car crash, except it’s scheduled ahead of time, so you know where and when to be to watch it.

Love this idea. Put him with Stringer in the centre. He’s the only player on our squad with the combo of burst and strength to nullify him. Could be a great way to get him back to his best.

Are people actually thinking Schache may play forward? In what bizarro world do we switch the guy to defense for the last 6 weeks to then play him in a final as a forward, where he lacks the one quality we need from a forward in finals.

Night and day between Rutten/Heppell Beveridge/Bont interviews on 360. They were excited, positive and looked good. Bevo and Bont looked disheveled, like they didn’t even care how they looked on live TV.

On the flip side, you can say they're just happy to make it, we're not happy with just making a do or die final and are determined to get the job done. I wouldn't read much into it.

The positives are we only lost to Port by a kick, without a ruck and being towelled up by Ladhams. The Essendon game hurt but really again we didn’t lose by much and we had neither a big back nor a ruck. I still vehemently disagree with the match committee but based on form (surprisingly) we actually should win this!

The bizarro world that is Bevos world. Maybe a poor example on my part. I’m still very lukewarm on him being in the team. Nice guy and all, but that’s where some of his problems lie.

I know he been applauded for some of his recent defensive work but I really don’t rate it much either.

Just like his forward craft he is only ok in a competing marking contest and half decent at fisting the ball away. But he is too scared to get physical or even spoil the ball when it’s closer to the ground. Contrast that with Naughton, Keath and Bruce who are both huge but aren’t scared to put their bodies on the line and fall to the ground when a spoil calls for it.

I don't get all the negativity. Last game against Essendon we played terribly, had our no 1 KPD out, our best small forward out, beat them for inside 50s and still only lost because 2MP played the game of his life and is unlikely to ever have a career game like that again.
Even playing the exact same way but with Keath on 2MP, we win that game. Treloar now has a few games into his legs. I think we've got this.

Just with Bev’s acceptance of our ruck situation- we lose the hit outsevery week- got me thinking about what ifs.
What if Alexander Fleming just accepted people die from infection so didn’t bother experimenting with penicillin or Florence Nightingale just accepted that more soldiers died in hospital than on the battlefield. Overly dramatic I admit and football is not life or death but we advance more when we don’t just accept the status quo

Sdriously ....

IF ...
I'm a strong and long-time advocate on the need to fully celebrate those who make the Therabody AFL All-Australian team and not publicly lament those who miss out ...

THEN ...
I'm nevertheless reserving a touch of heartache for Jakey Stringer. Can't believe he wasn't a 2021 All-Australian. Could not have done one thing more to warrant a berth. Hope he has another blinder on Sunday against the team which turfed him out when he was at a personal and professional low. Absolutely love his comeback story.
