I know it has been said time and again, but there are just too many players in Freo who are gifted games. Look at what Luke Beveridge has done at the bulldogs. He came in the first year, did not care about reputations, and dropped some senior players that were not performing (Minson, Wallace ect) and it has paid off in spades for the club. Why? Because it sets the right tone. It sets the tone that unless you are preparing 100%, training 100% and performing 100%, then you will be dropped.
I know it's round 1, but the following players have not performed:
Michael Barlow, Zac Clarke, Tendai Mzungu, Nick Suban, Danyle Pearce, Chris Mayne, and Cam Sutcliffe. Regardless of whether we have replacements that are better or not, we need to start setting the right tone at the club.

But you forgot Nat Fyfe, Matthew Pavlich, David Mundy, Matt Taberner, Lee Spurr, Stephen Hill, Hayden Ballantyne, Michael Walters, Clancee Pearce, Garrick Ibbotson, Jon Griffin, Lachie Weller and to a lesser extent Lachie Neale. See the problem?

I'm wondering if there is anybody here can remember the Suns vs. Freo game at Metricon last year where the Dockers only narrowly won after a hard fought battle in the wet in front of 8000 people (lol). If so, can anyone list what exactly went wrong for the Dockers? The Suns had an abysmal team that game and from memory Freo had a strong team (and obviously still won), but performed far poorer than expected.

Is it a Freo vs. Suns thing or was that particular day an anomaly?

I'm trying to work out whether my unrealistic thoughts of a possible win against the reigning minor premiers is warranted or not :p
It was about our 100th game in a row in the wet. It was starting to wear down & fatigue our players.

Hi, any worry with Fyfe's fitness? Last NAB game and Sunday lacked acceleration - even before the cork. Normally just bursts through tackles like Dangerfield did on Monday.

Interesting game against Suns. From what I've read you have lots of options being bandied about after one poor game. Wish my boys were the same -injuries are really starting to threaten our year.

Changes or not we will either win by less than 20 point or win by it.

Sandi, Jonno and De Boer will be the only ins this week. Not sure on the outs but I still have the feeling Fyfe might not come up so MDB would replace him.

What do we do with Ablett. Should we just line Fyfe up next to him ala Danger v Fyfe and just see who comes out on top? They don't tag Fyfe we don't tag Ablett.

Hoping Fyfe comes out and goes full beast mode.

Nah, they're two completely different players. You will see Suban go to him at stoppages so best to lock GAJ in as your DT Captain this week.

Our usual best 22 will do the job no need to worry, if we got another bashing, time to think about rebuild against WE resting Sandi, fyfe ballas and pav.

Sandi in for Clarke.
Johnson in for Mzungu.
Tucker in for Spurr.
De Boer in for Suban.
Langdon in for D Pearce.
A Pearce in for Sutcliffe

There, that looks better already.

D.Pearce and Mayne will never get dropped.

Suban vs Ablett? Good god. Has anyone ever scored more than 3 Brownlow votes in a game because it could be a real possibility here...

Agreed, how about a straight switch of Suban for DeBoer. I actually think DeBoer could go with Ablett restrict him somewhat and get a hardball occasionally at the centre. I have no problem with DeBoer if he is not in the forward line missing 35 m goals. Elite runner and great handballer in congestion. Our pressure around ball ups would also go up.

I'd be happy with that. Think he'd do a reasonable job and make Ablett earn it, but, he'd get soundly beaten.

Another option could be to get a youngster to match up with him and learn some bits and pieces from one of the games best. Chuck Langdon in and get him to study on the job. Positioning, work rate etc. Could be a valuable learning experience with the chance of him getting some ball also.
