I only said it is not the structure I would've gone with. Personally I think we have picked a very fleet footed side which should run Melbourne off its legs. I'm tipping a solid win.

And it isn't a structure we normally go with.

I think Bucks is clearly using this game to experiment. One criticism of Bucks' coaching so far has been his lack of versatility when it comes to structure and match-day plans.

He's clearly trying something out, he's going with a smaller line-up on what's forecast to be a wet day, we have our full midfield in for the first time this year, so he expects us to dominate there. Remember we struggled at the stoppages against the Dees in the previous game.

As you said, he's gone with speed and run (which may suggest the Seedsman inclusion), let's see if it works.

In part it could be a structural choice to go with a smaller forward line and more mobile team over all

In that scenario you couldn't drop Moore off the back of 5 goals and Jessie needs to be on notice anyway

Perhaps but if that was the strategy you would think dropping a ruckman and keeping White would make us more mobile. Let's face it, when it comes to forwards White is probably ahead of Grundy and Witts at the moment , as bad as he is.

I hope at some stage the forward line looks like this:

HF - Swan Moore Fasolo
F - Elliott Pendlebury Varcoe

What a mix. Different. But exciting.
I like it but 1 player over 193 would struggle a little in the air

I think he was given a spell to address his additude issues rather than a back complaint
Agree and to an extent think the outs this week need to address their weaknesses.

Could bode well for a late run at the finals.

Give Bucks some credit for making the changes

You made it look we can’t stop everyone in the Dee’s Forward Line. You said we have no real Option to stop Howe.

What I think is that frost will go to hogan and brown will go to Dawes.

I think McDonald will go forward so either Goldsack or Langdon get forced onto this matchup.

That leaves Howe. Toovey probably gets that matchup, although I think Buckley would prefer to play him on Garlett.

So that means Williams goes onto Garlett which I'm a little worried about.

Otherwise Maynard can play tall on McDonald which leaves Goldsack on Howe and Toovey on Garlett. Then Langdon can play the loose floater.

It's just why I would've played marsh or scharenberg as they can play a more KPP role whilst also offering run.

Up the other end, I just thought this was the perfect game to throw Reid in, drop witts and go with Reid, white and Moore, with white backup ruck.

I still think we win comfortably, just not my desired structure.

In general I like who we brought in and dropped. I got 3 of my 5 desired changes.

agreed, I have been a bit critical of his inability to drop the more experienced players...but he has made a statement this week.

Sadly if Collingwood think Moore will dominant as a number 1 forward at 18, the selectors have got rocks in their head. Should of waited for next week when Cloke is back and then drop White. Poor Moore at 18 they think he can carry a forward line no matter how good he will be.
Where have the selectors said that?

Good argument. White should also not be credited with 23 goals this year, they should be credited to Elliott Cloke Pendlebury and Swan who deliver it to him.

Except for last week White has never played on the best KPDs since Cloke plays on them.

Let us use the Hawthorn game as a comparison. Let's use some context.

Moore played his first ever AFL game against the reigning premiers.

Moore was held goalless and kicked one behind. He played poorly.

White playing in his 10th season played on Gibson and kicked 2.2 and had 14 possessions 0 goal assists. He also missed a soda in the 2nd quarter. He also missed a goal late in the fourth quarter to put us in front. I would say he played an average/passable game.

Who is to say that Moore will be better than White? No one. How will we find out? If Moore is given the same opportunities White has.

The entire point of my post to which you respectfully disagreed was that Moore had not surpassed White YET, give the kid a chance.

When you eventually form an opinion that you're prepared to stand behind we'll have the discussion.

And for the record and as I've consistently said, barring some unforeseen tragedy Moore will be an absolute gun and clearly a better player than White.... given time and patience to allow him to develop. To claim he's already surpassed him is just plain wrong irrespective of how poorly you think of White.

I stand by my point. I think Moore has established himself.

The fact Moore is playing ahead of White is moot.

Well until your next post when you won't be sure... and you were advocating surpassed, that fallen by the way now?

And yes it is moot. If the fact Moore has been named this week ahead of White is the basis for your argument then you've clearly not thought this through.

Nope. I stand by it.

I don't need to convince you and vice versa. It's an opinion just like yours is.

I do advocate that Moore is superior to White in several ways.

I especially take into account the experience and physical maturity that White has as compared to Moore when making my assessment.

5 losses in a row. Common denominator? I've been in Ireland for 5 weeks and feel personally responsible. I'll be at the game on Saturday, so we'll be right.
It was interesting watching the last 5 games in Ireland with sundry relatives new to footy. My sister loved Jessie White. Commentary went like this:

That's a big field.
This is like Gaelic, isn't it?
He's a big boy. What's his name? Jessie? Really?
Who are the boyos in pink?
Is Martin Clarke playing?
Is he substituted out already? He's only been playing for four minutes.
Come on Jessie!
Where's the crossbar?
So where do you kick to score a goal?
Does Jessie know that?
Was that free kick? Dirty player!
This is nothing like Gaelic.
How many players have you? Looks like Rent-a-Crowd's playing.
Are you allowed to do that?
Why does the ref keep blowing the whistle?
Ridiculous hair.
Why was that a free kick?
That boy's not bad. (Varcoe)
He's called Travis too? (Cloke) He's a fierce big man.
How did he miss that?
Shouldn't he be bouncing it?
That ball wobbles a fair bit.
Christ! They miss a lot.
Those shorts they're wearing are indecent.
Jessie looks well in them.
He's got time to take a call in the middle of the game, has he?
Why did he kick it out?
Is it half-time yet?
Only quarter-time? Jesus!
He's missed that one too.
These commentators are great. Why do you need four of them?
Go Jessie - you can do it!
Jesus Jessie!
You know what your problem is? Your mids aren't defensive enough.
It's a bit like Gaelic.
Foul!
How come he didn't get sent off?
This is the longest game on earth.
That refs a ****ing moron!
How many of these score reviews do they do per game?
Did he miss again?
That other crowd's better at the tackling.
He just jumped on yer man's back!
Eejit nearly wrecked himself.
Wasn't that a free kick? It was when that fella did it up the other end.
Jesus these refs are inconsistent!
Run Jessie! **** it! He should have caught that.
Is it over yet?
Do the refs have it in for Collingwood, or what?
Jessie!
Yer a big Jessie, Jessie!
For **** sake, Jessie!
Lost. How many's that now?
For **** sake Collingwood!

It was almost like being on BigFooty.

Like I said earlier Elliot is a major upgrade on White in EVERY facet of play.
Never seen Elliott in the ruck but I guess I have to take your word for it.
This match won't be an exception to the previous games with Witts / Grundy . His 2nd ruck role becomes void and he doesn't add enough otherwise.
In his defense White hasn't been able to play the role he thought he would however also not the role we thought he could. Limits are known by now. Nothing mo(o)re nothing less. Certainly not comparison to Elliott. Different player but better suited in the current set up I am happy to agree.
Like the return of Goldsack. He tackles hard and to hurt. Would be good to see some tackles stick for a change. Blair is ferocious sometimes but lacks impact literally.

Well according to some. White is our Number 1 Forward and he is Undderrated:eek:.

I think we going for More Pressure up Forward with the Smaller Forward Line

Underrated?

Your kidding right? He is up there with the biggest whipping boy on our board.

Fair enough looking for more pressure up forward but if that is what they are looking for I can guarantee that White will chase better than someone like Witts in the forward line.

Call it as I see based on the evidence available. But at least I'd get the name right...

Fixed.....my apologies it wasn't intentional.
