I think what domus is saying is that if Berg was 4th round or rookie pick he would not be getting this many chances

Yeah but he is a first round pick 6 who has had two knee reco's, in his second game this year who was one of the best players in the draft had it not been for a 18 month foot injury and hasn't put a step wrong all year. So what's your point????

Sent from my warped mind

Spot on-I have never been a fan based upon what I have seen. Others tell me I am missing something. I am not stupid. I don't expect a tear away BOG every week. I do not want to see us lose games because we are giving Shaz time to find his feet. He was the least desperate player on the ground in what was a fantastic win. We need every man giving his all if we are to have any hope of knocking off the Dees.

You are so wrong when you say I am not likely to budge. Every week I am hoping with all my heart that he shows me what others see or makes me eat my words and every week I see the same player.

If Varcoe is fit he comes straight in and plays half back in place of Shaz.

Are you for real?

What did you think of Dunns game by the way?

I just can't see us winning without fasolo and Elliot. They are a big chunk of our score.
But let's not forget their missing Jesse Hogan

Outs: Wells (calf) Elliott (ankle) Broomhead (omitted)

Ins: Kirby (absolute no brainer now Billies out) Brown, Mayne.
No chance Broomhead out, that's guaranteed. Greenwood and Goldy out too
Crocker had a shocker but he had his moment and should stay in given all the injuries
Don't think we'll see Fas back yet. No idea how he's going tbh, but would be surprised

In: Schade/Keefe/Langdon, Brown, Mayne, Thomas (Oxley is LTI)

Would Kirby last a whole AFL game seems to be the question. Exciting though.

Bye this week would have been good - Reid, Varcoe, we need you

I am scared to say this but I will try to be brave-Shaz did nothing today and if his name was not Scharenberg he would be top of the list to be dropped. Goldy was a better , more aggressive player with a wrecked shoulder. Shaz got a dozen soft possessions-chip kicks wide and a couple of dinky handpasses. Every other defender provided drive and run or a fierce physical contest in the air. I have nothing against Shaz. I am simply being objective.

It was a nothing game. He looks very tidy and I know it's only game 2, but jeez, it's about time we saw him hit a contest.

What part of what I wrote do you think is inaccurate or not for real?

Love Dunn. He crashes packs, handles big power forwards and is a thumping kick. People talk about the elite kicking of Shaz. I call a 50-55 metre pass from a kick in to a teammate where he didn't have to break stride an elite kick. Shaz is yet to do that even once at senior level. He cannot handle big bodied players nor is he quick enough to cover the speedy smalls.

thought he looked a little tired at times today, the bye will do him good.
Nowhere close to being left out though

Agreed........but my point is Domus's obsession with Scharenberg is getting beyond the negative.

I am more obsessed with the complete absence of any negative critiquing of his game. Broomhead and Maynard cop bucket loads most weeks yet Shaz can drift through a game without raising a sweat and no-one comments. Did he step up when Goldy was off or had to be moved forward? Can you point out one moment of desperation from Shaz? I mean body on the line stuff-not a defensive punch in a one on one . I think it was all the more apparent today given the ferocious desperation of his teammates. I know I harp on about Shaz but it because I feel like I am living in a parallel universe when it comes to reviewing his performances at senior level.

You know what mate he has obviously done something wrong to you........because I don't get the negativity to someone who has so much positive energy around him at the moment......especially after what he has endured.

If you are waiting for him to walk on water it ain't happening........enjoy the crusade.

Why? Schade has had games where he has gathered double digit possessions and done a reasonable job on key forwards and he has been dropped twice. Explain to me based on what he has done, not what he might do one day, exactly why he should remain in the team.

Finally people are aboard the Kirby band wagon. Welcome and enjoy the ride.

The guy is a goal kicker and the sooner he is in the better, I would have had him this week instead of Crocker as the Fas replacement....then again I wanted him in about 4 weeks ago. I don't care if he doesn't run a game out like Blair because he impacts the scoreboard which is the whole idea of a forward. Scoreboard pressure is the only pressure that matters.

I seriously don't get it. He provided little to no offensive drive. Have a look at his possessions. He picked up three of them in the last minute of the game when we were chipping around wasting time. I feel like this is the story of the Emperor with no Clothes but nobody is willing to speak the truth even when it is staring them in the face. He did a couple of defensive punches. Give him a medal!! He looks slow and lacks any semblance of physicality ( I am trying to be kind).I do not want to go into a cutthroat clash with Melbourne who are ferocious and quick when on song with players who float about picking up cheap possessions. If Goldy is out this makes his place in the team even more worrisome.

He did not take one intercept mark that I saw. His kicking was okay but 30 metre chips out wide are not too tough.

Who do you replace him with?

No walking on water required. I have been told repeatedly he is an outstanding intercept mark and an elite kick. I am yet to see evidence of either. People keep posting his DE. It means nothing given the number of little sideway chips he does.

Why do you misconstrue what I say? I am very happy that Shaz is healthy and playing footy. Are you suggesting we should play players based on how hard their life circumstances are as a reward? We are talking professional football at the highest level. Shaz should have to earn his spot just like every other player. Maybe we should just keep playing Cox every week given he sacrificed a high paying job and left his country to have a crack at playing in the AFL.

Unlike Goldy, I would not be happy to have Shaz next to me in the trenches given what he has produced so far at senior level. If we were out of the finals race I would be more willing to give him time, but I think it would be a mistake to keep playing him while the season is alive. Unless of course he performs with more aggression and attacks the pill back in the VFL.

I want Shaz to succeed and play 200 plus games. I also want him to show he has the ability to do it.

Ok....we obviously disagree on this one.......now you are going to say you prefer Keeffe in his position. o_O

Cheers domus........but we are both flogging a dead horse on this one.........we both view talent a lot different.

But you do pessimism befor optimism.

But without Elliott, it will be more difficult.

Someone else just needs to step up, that simple
Apparently Kayle Kirby is ready to fill the void, and the area in front of FF with shallow graves I hear, having had a pretty steady run of form in the VFL.

I am no expert but mates describe him thus..."Imagine Paul Medhurst ate Andrew Krakouer"

We've been the 5th highest scoring team up until this round (Numbers are fudged now because some teams have played more games than others), Hogan is a loss but we still can score heavily. I'll be honest I'll be very disappointed if we drop this, but I'm also used to us dropping must win games.

I didn't watch VFL but do see that Cox kicked 3. Is there a capacity for Cox to return given the possible unavailabilties of Elliot, Fasolo and Greenwood? I like the small forward line we've been rolling out lately but if Cox has been playing well in the VFL might be worth giving him another crack.
