Changes for Round 7

Brown just gets the ball and whallops it, that's a far bigger mistake than Reid ever made IMO. I'd certainly stick with Reid over Nate, but that's just me.

Completely agree with Invig here.

Nate has about as much finess and awareness as Toovey crossbred with a jackhammer. While I can see him developing into a decent FB down the track, Reid has far more to offer than Nate at the moment. Much like big Trav, you know when Nate gets the ball he kicks it as long and hard as he can toward the end we are attacking - regardless of whether a Pies player is in the vicinity.

While Reid possession rate is still lower than I would have liked, his use of the ball is exemplary. Some of his left foot passes are as penetrating and deep as we have in our team. He released our runners out of the back line on several occasions through his kicking skill/penetration. He also makes the right decision most of the time when in possession. Yes, his defensive side still needs work but the upside is greater than Nates at this stage.

Changes for mine:

Out: Brown, Fraser
In: Anthony (use him as a forward/back swingman), Wood

Dawes has finally had his breakout game as a strong marking key forward, and you want to throw him into the ruck???????????

Ridiculous suggestion.

Jack will have to bide his time in the seconds until the opportunity presents itself. Just like Dawes had to bide his time last year.

If Fraser goes out Wood must be his replacement. The one ruck policy MUST stay on the scrapheap, barring injuries of course.

We cant afford to experiment with the mix right now. If we want to throw an extra tall forward from time to time, Jolly Wood or N Brown can be used.

He would spend the majority of the game up forward with short burts in the ruck. Hell even Reidy could be thrown into the ruck at times? He has the tank to be able to do so, so why not?

Good teams play their best players in their best positions and dont toy around with that just for the sake of it.

We have been winning and winning well, why the hell would we want to upset the balance?

You dont see Geelong throw Cam Mooney or Harry Taylor in the ruck.

IF presti is fit.

OUT: Fraser - Useless Lump. we will never win a flag with him around

Reid - Countless times SETANTA was free, not good enough. at least brown could stay on his man.

Macaffer - the pure reason that i would much rather see Anthony in the team than another utility. With Presti in the team we have the best defence in the league.

Maybe Davis - Poor form

IN: Wood

Presti

Anthony - 5 goals on the weekend, and by the sounds of it did alot of hard work, and got his hands dirty at ground level.

Maybe Lockyer

I am yet to see the replay, but I was very impressed with Macaffer.

His numbers are never anything special, but his body work and contested ability is very good, and he makes good decisions when he has the ball.

Smart enough to play anywhere on the ground. Good player to have in the 22.

Mooney had a couple of decent years as a ruckman and it helped him develop his engine. Taylor was swung forward to CHF last week.

And Dawes isn't one of our best players.

Agree with this, Macaffer has done enough to stay.

As has Reid and N.Brown IMHO. Need to develop them as they are the post-presti future. Rest Presti save him for the big games with the obvious matchup.

Fraser has played one reasonably good game out of six...they're not percentages you'd be happy with going in finals games later in the year, so perhaps bring in, and get games into, other guys who may demonstate better reliability.

One of the benefits of the MM/Bucks combo is the awe in which young players would hold them.

Sit Wood down for a 20 min one two-on-one with MM/Bucks, tell him your dreams and hopes, fill him with your confidence in his abilities, ask him to go out there vs North and really show you what he's got.

Leon needs a pep up from coaches too, mainly keep up the tremendous tackling pressure, be patient with the rest, it'll come

Overall, Wood for Fraser ( sorry coulda said that quicker)

Brown will match up with edwards you would think and maybe reid on hale?

IN: Wood if fit, Jack

OUT: Fraser, Leon (kills me but it's time).

Would be great to see how Dawes, Cloke and Jack work together in the forward line with Medhurst and Beams.

If Leon is carrying something then rest him and let him get over it. Only question is whether he can play himself into form against the Roos?

I will defend Leon Davis to the hills here.

He may well be carrying an injury, but anyone who has watched the Carlton replay will see he was tagged for the last 3 quarters by Joseph, who is just an annoying pest.

Leon actually started well, and that's why Joseph went off Beams and onto Davis.

You have to remember 2 weeks ago, Leon kicked 3.5 against Hawthorn.

Barring any injury, he will play this week.

I would rather have presti rest for another week. Purely based on the fact that we need presti fit and firing for both the geelong and lions games... Presti and Leigh Brown will take Mooney and PODS for the cats and then Fevola and Brown the following week and they both need to be top notch.

Therefore i'd like to see the following changes:

In: J Anthony

Out: Fraser (knee)

Jolly can have a day on his own - and in most peoples opinion doesn't he play better when he's the sole ruckman? I think playing 2 specialist ruckman in wood and jolly would be bad for our structures. Anthony can play as third tall forward in place of Fraser which IMO is perfect for him.

For those who are anti-leon atm i say were you at the game?? His decision making is off and so is his presence and fitness. But, his chasing and tackling pressure inside 50 alone is enough to have him in the team. That being said, if he is out, lockear should be a lock to replace him. Lockear is being forced out atm by macaffer who is playing quite well - but a move up forward will suit him.

North are currently playing McIntosh, Goldstien and Hale. That's 3 ruckmen, better than average players each of them, and you think this week we should let Jolly take on the ruck duties on his own....

No change again for mine.

Fraser out for Wood if his knee is in need of rest.

Presti is still showing a week so if there is absolutely any doubt or if it's even sore he should rest and give Reid another week at least to get some more time on ground.
