Apparently discussing whether the game will be moved to an earlier start to allow Collingwood an easier/more immediate flight home.
I'm not big on this.
Port adeliade fly commercial, everyone else is flying chartered.
Bringing it forward just means Collingwood players can be in bed before 11.
Would be getting home to a similar time than a night game.

Not sure if my app is playing up and showing local time, but the AFL app is now saying 4:05pm instead of 4:35pm 🤷
There was talk about starting the match earlier, so the players could get back earlier.. I thought maybe a 3.00PM start, but...
I suppose the 30 minutes make a huge difference:rolleyes:

THe lack of VFL this year has made it hard for us to study VFL form. Grundy is injured so an automatic out. I want to rest Pendles as he is playing injured and frankly, not playing well. Would be better he try heal. Madgen & Callum Brown have to be omitted. Im choosing to give Wilson another week as we already have 4 outs. I would rather give Lynch a run this week. It is IMO, his last chance to show he can be valuable as depth. If not, we delist him at the end of the year and find a young ruck to develop. McCreery can wait another week if he is passed fit. He is young and don't want him to get chronic calf problems. Elliott returns on limited minutes. Noble is moved to the pressure forward role as his defensive 1v1 work is poor but he has speed.

In: M.Lynch, J.Thomas, F.Macrae, J.Elliott (Limited minutes)

Out: B.Grundy (Inj), S.Pendlebury (Rest), J.Madgen (Omit)

B. B.Maynard/J.Roughead/N.Murphy
HB. I.Quaynor/D.Moore/J.Crisp
R. M.Lynch/J.Crisp/J.Daicos
C. C.Poulter/B.Sier/W.Hoskin-Elliott
HF. J.De Goey/B.Mihocek/S.Sidebottom
F. J.Thomas/D.Cameron/J.Noble
int. T.Wilson/F.Macrae/T.Bianco/J.Elliott

Odds are the bye is bought forward and this game is delayed. Or just send both teams to Sydney now as Melbourne and St Kilda are already there so play it @ Giants stadium before the borders are shut.

Having said that season is about to be compromised again so may as well rest up Grundy, Pendles, Moore (if Achilles is still sore, Adams, Howe).
IF Elliot is recovered play him as he needs game time rather than been injured all the time.
Give the draftees (Callow and Stengle) a run. Cox can take the ruck and cycle through the kids while leaving guys like Sidebottom, Mayne in to provide a structure.

See who wants to hub and who doesn't. Those with families can stay home fair enough. Take the kids away = bit of time to train and prepare for the future, play together.

Make the call on Bucks at some point but he is probably in the best position to manage and organise the hub. (Would make this his last year thou).

So assuming Callow gets picked Wednesday, he surely plays?

Doubt we'll see either of our MSD picks at senior level until after the bye at the absolute earliest, if at all this year.

Could we start it in 2018 please?

Especially an 18 year-old like Callow.

Someone like Johnson or Stengle could because they're mature bodies, but I'd be surprised if Callow did.

Why not?

He dominated his last outing (or one prior) - he's already a big body, and we have very little to lose.

Have everything to lose throwing a player in at the deep end if their fitness isn't up to scratch. They'll test his fitness and readiness at VFL level for a few weeks. Noble was in exactly the same position and was a more mature recruit and I think from memory he had a week or 2 training block before he was even given a run in the VFL.

If he performed as he did in the SANFL, for our VFL side - he'd be straight in.

There is very little downside.

enough time to learn the game plan? Haha

Not hard in our forward line just stand there and wave your hands and the ball will be dropped on your head

Should take about 5 mins to learn

And if his fitness levels aren't adequate for AFL and he tears his hammy of the bone and becomes Freeman MkII then that'd be okay as well I guess.

Why the urgency?

Is Kelly light years ahead of callow? From what I’ve seen I don’t think he is at all tbh. That said I’d expect take a few weeks at least to settle, learn roles etc. even a readymade player will go through the Vfl
