Only 2nd to the melts when he gets subbed off injured mid way through the 2nd quarter.

If he gets selected, then that's a risk McRae and the selectors are willing to take. Kreuger has had a prolonged run at VFL now with only a week off for concussion so I think it's a reasonable risk. I don't think he'll get a recall but he's certainly making a case to be if an opportunity arises.

Krueger's played like 6 of 7 games in the VFL now, missing one for concussion. Has put together a solid block of staying healthy.

The main issue I see with picking him is lack of familiarity. It's late in the season to be introducing a new player to the mix. We're still working out the McStay/Mihocek combo, throwing in another change makes it that much more difficult. For me, it will either be Cox or AJ.

Similar with Frampton to defence, if Krueger isn't picked this week, it probably won't happen without injury. Needs time to bed down.

I’d back Krueger- the guy is so hard at it and quick for a big guy, yeah his hardness does get him in trouble at times but the guy can be a game turner!

This week would be the time to try him and AJ with Hill, Elliot, Mcreery and McStay or Checkers

Not getting carried away here, losses happen. They were pretty good and we were a bit off the mark.

This week I would get Hill back into the 22 for pace and take Lipinski out. Cox out for Johnson.

B - Quaynor Moore Murphy
HB - Maynard Howe Crisp
C - J.Daicos DeGoey Sidebottom
HF - McCreery McStay Hill
F - Johnson Mihocek Elliott
R - Cameron N.Daicos Pendlebury
INT - Mitchell Adams Noble Markov WHE

We are not locking the ball i50.
We need that defensive forward.
McCreery and Hill go scorching up and down the wings. I love that.
We need to stop Sicily getting 50 thousand marks and his opponent also needs to be effective.
There is one man for that.
I learnt it on Friday.
Howe.
I love Johnno, but I don’t think he can do the defensive stuff.

Elliot Checkers Howe
Hill McStay McCreery.

I want to start with this.
Johnno can be a sub.
Lipinski can go.

I'm sure they'll be looking very closely at what Saints did today, particularly with Sicily. He had absolutely no influence at all.

Credit to Carlton they clearly had a plan and executed very good. I thought when we got our handball game going in patches looked really good, then when it came undone we got exposed out the back.
We simply can’t allow short 45s to the opposition.

Out: cox
In: hill
Adams sub.

I’d assume AJ may come in for someone but unsure who, don’t think we will see more than 2 changes.

Having watched bits of the Hawthorn game from the weekend, I would amend my changes (slightly).

OUT: Cox - Lipinski
IN: Johnson - Hill

FB: Maynard - Murphy - Quaynor
HB: Howe - Moore - N. Daicos
C: J. Daicos - Mitchell - Sidebottom
HF: Johnson - Mihocek - McCreery
FF: Elliott - McStay - Hill
FOLL: Cameron - De Goey - Pendlebury
INT: Noble - Crisp - Hoskin-Elliott - Markov
SUB: Adams

We've played 6 games in 5 weeks. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the intensity we brought for the Port game. Sure we looked flat on Friday on the back of a big build up the week before, wet conditions, short turnaround for this week's game.

The boys & Fly have alluded to different training loads specific to July and just getting through that.

I'd say it's not a coincidence there were a few upsets this round as sides prepare for the finals.

I'm not sure what you're conjuring up by suggesting 'something is up' at the club.

"Something is up" is alluding to nothing more than being worried we might be dropping off at the wrong time of the season.

I like many, scoffed at the idea people kept parroting of us being "up too early" earlier in the season, because it's ultimately a stupid argument that generally comes from people who are just annoyed their team isn't winning consistently.

We're 5 rounds out from finals. Top two isn't locked in yet so I'm just a little worried we're dropping off at an important time of the year.

This is arguably our best shot at a flag given the overall quality of the comp this year isn't great. I expect it to be much harder next season and beyond so it's just me hoping the club isn't messing up a golden opportunity to win a flag.

So yeah, this week will be a really interesting watch for me.

Half glass full v half glass empty, I guess. I just don't see 5 wins in the past 6 rounds as dropping off, including 2 wins which were very convincing & 2 interstate trips. July was the perfect time to have tapered off as teams now start building & preparing for the finals. Imo.

Carlton got the ball out of D50 too easily - we really missed Bobby.
I agree that Sicily is the one player we need to stop, but Lewis and their midfield are handy too.
We need to be on our game.

Hope so

Like I said, I think this match will give some insight into where we are for reasons that go beyond the surface

We probably only really need one win from the last four to make top 2. The hand wringing over top 2 is a little much. The players know these are dead rubbers. I'm not expecting to see any four quarter performances unfortunately. I am comforted though by how clearly we went up a notch in finals last year.
Some of these " form" teams will be found out as pretenders pretty quickly in finals, and vice versa.

You're talking to the poster formally known as Speshal Ed. Well known to read tea leaves and wet the bed, best to just keep scrolling tbh.

On the other hand we don't want to lose momentum and take losing form into the finals.
Now is the time to build - we don't want to mess around too much, and we still have things to work on.
Who can forget the way Geelong flogged us in the final round in 2011?
We were the best team all year but didn't beat Geelong at all that year.

Something up at the club? You're getting a bit carried away by a 17 point loss to an in form Carlton side, aren't you?
We looked bit tired I reckon also, and if we had capitalised on 2nd qtr inside 50 dominance and kicked those easy set shots from Beau, Mcstay and Mihocek .... who knows.. Adams seemd to go missing, Naicos burned both Elliot and Degoey in good spots for set shot going for the glory goal and missed both .... sliding doors. In saying tha,t credit due to Blooz .. they really bought the heat

yeah ok bro

I just call it as I see it

I've been going to each and every game in Melbourne and I watch pretty closely. Unless we're doing some experimenting, there's some issues creeping in. In fact, I alluded to this BEFORE we lost to Carlton.
