Elliott In. Brown out. Poor kick and fumbles a lot.
Maybe Aish In. Greenwood Out. i'm less convinced about the merits of this change.

I think Varcoe's speed causes panic in the opposition. He tackles to make it stick too, in a manner few of our players do (ex Jordy).
I think he is vital to our structure.
I also think his skills are generally good and some of his tap ons etc are clever too. No surprise he was dropped for only one round and quickly returned to the team.

Not at all . . . after reading your post I had to ring beyond blue.

Seriously . . .

Try smiling occasionally.

Good one thanks but I smile plenty

But I also watch a lot of footy and I'm not smiling watching the same blokes doing the same things and not suprised with what eventuates

I'm happy to be logical and put some perspective in the mix

6 rounds in

The ? Is valid

We're struggling with clearances with a dominant ruck
The clubs identified it that's why Jordan plays on ball in the 2nd half
He holds his ground

Jeez. I've tried to read that 3 times. Are you sure you asked a question?
The ? Is who out of my 22 at peak performance misses out

Maynard roughy Howe
Crisp. Moore. Shaz

Wells. Seir. Mayne

De goey. Cox. Whe

Stevo Mihochek elliott

Grundy pendels Adams

Sidey. Treleor Langdon beams

So the guys below get a run
Thomas
Brown
Varcoe
Phillips
Greenwood
Reid

To me the only guys at ? Would be
Wells and shaz and Mayne

All play for me

Fair enough. Looks a good 22 to me. I'd go Phillips over Mayne, but that's about the only difference. Unfortunately, it's incredibly rare to ever have everyone available to choose from, so the whole best 22 thing is a bit overblown.

Mate thanks for replying
It is a discussion forum

And it is overblown off course
Suppose my point is I think we're lacking speed , good finishing and although I might be wrong I felt it prudent to remind people of a few facts

On a another note
The kid from freo switowski ? Wow
That's defensive pressure
That's what we miss

I haven't seen Switowski yet, I'll keep an eye out. In terms of a manic contest and defensive pressure, it's a shame we didn't end up getting that Lonie kid from the Saints that there were rumours about last year - he's very good. It's nice to know that we've got a good eye and were interested though.

I'll repeat again
You don't get to see how good someone's going playing at williamstown on a wet windy day

Players improve playing against and with better players
Wills I agree ain't the answer but whilst seirs out and Mayne I think he should be given an opportunity

Reid deserves one too

The best 22 is always reliant opinion

To think at best output

Maynard roughy Howe
Crisp Moore shaz

Wells seir. Mayne

Degoey cox whe

Stepho. Checkers Elliott

Grundy pendels Adams

Beams. Treleor. Langdon sidey

Who misses out for
Thomas
Brown
Greenwood
Aish
Phillips
Reid

I'm intrigued any thoughts

2 kicks from losing against the bottom 14 the team
Lose that finish 5th
Maybe a straight exit

We lost to a team with 6 or 7 new players round 1 who are now better with continuity
We beat Richmond who didn't turn up
Flogged by west coast ( how they going)
Fell in against dogs who aren't flying
Pumped Brisbane and fell in against dons

All games have shown we're getting there but there's a bit missing

I wouldn't be getting too excited
Bucks pretty much said Wells won't play this week. He showed what he can do for us but Bucks wants him to do it for 4 quarters.

I think he's ex box hill

Created 5 goals from pressure
Very impressive
Agree with lonie

I love Varcoe but doesn't do enough, terrible in the air.

Bring in Daicos to play his role.

Varcoe's work without the footy is vital to our setup. Quite often he'll get to a contest after multiple efforts. Watching him live you get an appreciation for his work rate. Never going to be a 20+ possession winner and yes you'd love more goals from him but he's a lock for our 22. No way known Daicos is a replacement for him.

Elliott in for Thomas.
Wells in for Brown.

Reidy and Goldy are good insurance as KPP.

Post Game, I think it was Steele that said that for some of the game, they got pulled into playing Essendon's way, and they lacked their own game plan. Just as we got pulled into Geelong's style and Eagles. Got to stop letting them do that. Got to play it on our terms.

Winning the stoppages is key. When our mids go to sleep the rest of the game style falls apart.

The game goes in ebbs and flows. The trouble is when you lose momentum and the other side gets a run on and kicks a few goals, it's very hard to regain momentum. It's not that our guys go to sleep. The other team saps your confidence and you freeze up a bit and then the other team plays more confidently. The way to stop it is to destroy their confidence before they destroy yours and the way to do that is to score goals from every forward entry and to stop their their forward entry so they don't know where their goals are going to come from.

I think anyone suggesting Wells should play at Marvel Stadium off a six-day break with his injury history is mad. Add to that the VFL side was insipid and that he only played a quarter and a half of good footy, I'm happy to let him build his fitness. Despite his obvious silk, at times he looked lethargic and didn't cover the ground well.

Wills is the only other who has strung together solid VFL performances over the past month but he wasn't clean and his running didn't look as good as his previous outings, so I can't see how they can select him based on that. I'd simply put it on the existing mids to lift. If a door opens through injury or management then Wills may get his shot.

My feeling would be that Elliott returns for Varcoe, Aish returns in place of Greenwood while Reid would replace Cox if injured to give us the key position anchor/reference point up forward.

It's a good feeling having Reid, Wills and Wells running into various levels of form and fitness - Reid in particular if fully fit is an important piece in our extended playing group.
