Everything is humming for us now. It’s nice having a great midfield!

Sinn in or out, I don’t think it matters. Give the kid games - it’s the middle of the season. Burton as sub would be a good choice, as he can play any position.

Geelong are defensively very well structured and disciplined, so it will be interesting if they can hold us up.

Port by 6 goals.

We need to be planning for a defence without Jonas. The one we had going around on Friday without him goes pretty well. Don't think we are changing it until it needs changing.

Jonas is now depth.
This would all be true if Jonas weren't the Captain. Besides the one we have will already be changing. Sinn is not yet AFL standard.

We lack nothing in on ground leadership.
Absolutely nothing. It's a simple as Butters saying " Follow me." Jonas is not needed on ground.

Sinn can play needs games.

Problem with Narkle is he has always been a class above in the reserves so I wouldn’t be so quick to think he’ll just come in and play well. He would dominate for Geelong in the VFL but if you don’t play him midfield he struggled a fair bit at AFL level often going completely missing out of the games for long stretches of time.

Would be happy to give him a go on the wing whilst Sinn is struggling and Duursma is out and Bergman playing so good behind the ball.

But not sure where his midfield time comes with:
Butters, JHF, Rozee, Drew, Wines.
Boak barely even get mid time anymore with those guys available.

Unsure of how fit or his gut running is though as you need a guy who can cover top 5 distance on the ground in that wing spot usually.

I think you are spot on.

Hate to say it, but Boak would be most likely. But as you said, he doesn’t get huge midfield minutes anymore and his leadership around the ground is worth more.

Does anyone know why Richmond didn’t contract him during the preseason?

Just to add to this, Wines spent most of his time on a wing this week as well.

I couldn't help but feel like there was some player management in what we were doing this week Vs the Dogs. Wines being given a less taxing outside role. Boak who rarely plays inside played most of the game inside.

Feel like we're very cleverly managing workload of players given the fact we're heading into our 4th 6 day break in a row.

I mean there's an element of risk to it all, but definitely feels like there's some strategic planning happening under the surface.

I think Narkle adds to our mix, right now we're struggling to fill the outside role and he could do that. Plus he's god depth and an obvious 23rd player right now.

Burton for Sinn

Whoever out of Narkle or Bonner who pulled up better for sub

Wouldn't be surprised if Port picks Quinton Narkle to make his Power debut vs his old side this week. Was best afield in the SANFL on Saturday (33 touches, 6 clearances, 1 goal). Played well last week too. Fantasia (4 goals), Jonas, Burton also among Port's best on Saturday.

I think the only change will be Narkle being the sub and giving Bonner a full game in the SANFL. Think they will giver Sinn 1 more game mainly to just give him a bit of a run at it.

Personally changes would be Sinn out for Burton and Narkle the Sub.

Looking at match ups down back im thinking Alir on Hawkins and Mckenzie on Cameron then Jones takes Henry and Williams takes Rohan

I'd give Sinn another run. They want to give him some game time and see what he can do. One game is not enough for that. It would be deflating for him to come in for one game and then get dropped in reckon.

And he did improve a bit as the game went on.

The problem is he's captain. It was a poor decision by the coach, quality person or not.
I know we all want to dump on Ken, but the process of choosing the captain starts with the player vote, then ratification from coaches, Football department, then ends up with the board. No one had the cojones to stand up after last year's disastrous season and say 'changes are needed.'

IMO Jonas' reappointment was a total club failure!

It's now ken Hinkley fc so... that makes it Ken's fault 😜

If you believe you always pick the side that gives you the best opportunity to win, then Sinn goes straight out for Burton or Narkle. This isn’t a knock on the kid, he’s just currently not ready to play at the highest level.

There is no way known we drop Lachie Jones or Dylan Williams, which means Jonas continues to wear the prison bars until a spot opens up.

It was tactics. Wines lined up on the wing and then ignored his man.
After the bounce he rushed into the square giving us an extra around th ball.

And, Boak was unleashed in the last quarter.

Burton was rested yesterday, taken off at 3/4 time. So he returns for Bonner with Sinn or maybe the Sparkel as sub (next week).

There really is a tussle for spots in the 23.

Even Fantasia is back up and running and probably will start playing through niggles.
I don't think he should come in straight away but like just about all of them they should earn their spots unless someone is out of form.

The guys outside the 23 are significant players like Jonas, Burton, Narkle, Fantasia, Lord, Mead, Evans, Burgoyne, Jackson, etc.

It is great to see.
