Rory Laird might miss because of a calf complaint according to twitter reports left training and needs to do captains run or he's out.

Sam Berry or Matty Crouch in?
Schoenberg maybe?

Soligo more centre square time

How many frees to Daico?

If a McHenry tag can cut Daicos from 40 touches down to 30, and have 10 of those being frees where he can hold up play long enough to allow us to set up and force the free kick to be long down the line to a contest then I'd settle for that compared to allowing Daicos to run amok and lace out targets leading into space all day.

BFF Collingwood preview page posters are supremely confident of a win. The consensus is that we've lost to bottom 8 teams and have beaten no-one of any substance.
They'll just turn up, play, win, go home, it's that simple for them....
I'm expecting a close game and hopefully, a Crows win.

The bolded may be true but I think we are a better team than last year.
That being said, so are you.
Im not doubting the Pies or their ability, Im just commenting on the unique scenario for this particular game.

They are tad vulnerable on Sunday.

If this was any other round, the Pies would win this comfortably and they still might.

In fact I dont see a close game, Pies have lost the game following Anzac Day for the past 5 years, so its an interesting stat. Pies could blow the Crows out or the Pies may be cold from Anzac Day and the Crows torch them. By torch, I mean a 4 goal win. Pies worst result last year was 48pts and ave losing margin of 17pts.

EDIT

FFS

Pies have only twice past 5 years, to the Suns and Tigers at the G.

If Laird is out, I'd take Crouch over fumbles Schoenberg, but really we don't have any good option.

Or if Berry was ever gonna change my mind about him, now would be a fantastic time.

???
If you halve Keays 18 disposals to 9, and Daicos 36 disposals to 18, that gives us a +9 advantage in disposal differentials.

That simple maths doesn't make it the right tactic though. (I suspect the reality would be something more like Daicos 27 (-9) and Keays 5 (-13) for a +4 advantage to Collingwood)
9 of Daicos’ kicks are worth 27 of Keays

I didn't know that one.
Now you have made me even more nervous about the game, thanks for that .
With the Crows improvement and the five-day break, you summed it up quite well.
We are vulnerable.

Just looked at the line bet and Adelaide are +8.5.

Thats good enough for me, im on.

Good luck guys, it is a shame I am stuck in Echuca and not at home in Adelaide to watch it.

Can’t say that playing Schoenberg fills me with confidence right now, but we might not have a choice

Assuming Berry isn’t fully fit, my preference would probably be Schoenberg > Hately > Crouch

I don't think you could select Schoenberg and be confident he would perform.
I think the "midfielder" who comes in for Laird will in reality have to spend most of their time at half forward, which rules out Crouch and probably Hately

Laird's midfield time will be spread between players already in the team - Sloane, Soligo, Keays

Berry maybe but he struggled after Q1 on Saturday and appeared to get injured

Apologies Ive made a meal of those stats and they are wrong.

FFS I misread them.

Youve lost only to the Suns and Tigers at the G in the past 5 years, post Anzac Day.

EDIT

The past 5 years actually was referring to the Pies losing the last quarter post Anzac Day, hence my confusion. :drunk:

The Pies have lost the last quarter in their past 5 years post Anzac Day match.
Noting in three of these games were Suns (twice ) and Hawks.

Sloane will add more midfield time, so we will have 2 experienced mids in there. Doubt Keays given he might go to Daicos.

Schoenberg will come in I reckon.

If Keays goes to Daicos he won’t see much time in the middle

I can see it being a part-time CBA guy that comes in with Soligo/Sloane’s CBAs going up, which is why Schoenberg makes sense

C'mon Grotto lift your game mate.

I just got on the Collingwood board and expressed an interesting fact about us losing the last 5 :D

I am going to be savaged by my own board.

He’s so short, has he even got calves?
Well, they're not Cows.

Carn the cows.
