Daicos wouldn't give two shits if Pedlar kicked 5 on him. He's not there to defend a forward and both Daicos and McRae knows it.

All Pedlar getting off the chain would do is switch up Collingwood matchups. That may free up Rankine or a Rachele when they're forward.
If Pedlar kicks 5 goals, add goals by Tex/Fog/Rankine ==> we win.

Will be fascinating if we tag Daicos with Keays, I mean certainly has the tank to go with him, but in terms of skill and effectiveness, that remains to be seen.
Don't need skill to be a tagger. Kane Cornes did it for 300 games, FFS :p

It's a hell of a lot easier than being a firefighter, that's for damn sure.

Daicos lines up back but he doesn’t play there. He plays between the arcs doing what he wants. They obviously have a wing or mid drop back to cover him defensively just to get loose I think. So if Peds kicks 5 it won’t have anything to do with Daicos. Need to play close to him for the damage he does

Even if it did, it means someone is leaving their most valuable player unguarded to attack the ball. 5 goals is a small price to pay, especially seeing the likelihood is most of them would have resulted in shots.

It's not too dissimilar to how most half backs play, really they're all defenders in name only. They do play Daicos with more freedom then other half backs though. Typically teams want them providing a significant amount of intercepting power as well, which Daicos doesn't provide

I disagree. You're already cooked by the time Daicos is doing significant damage.

Someone mentioned it earlier. This Laird leaked info could well be a bit of game playing by Nicks and the coaching team.

I don't think it'll rattle the Pies too much either way (cause they'll fancy their midfield against ours with or without Laird). But it would definitely force them to create several game plans to combat our midfield. And on a short week, its probably more work than they care to do.

Hinge to the Centre, trust me he'll kill it there
Hinge gets bagged by a couple around here.. sure, he’s made a mistake or 2 at times this year but so has nearly everyone else in the side..

And again.. he’s another with only 20-30 games experience..

But some of his plays are the best at the club especially in traffic…

There has been a couple of “underground” handpasses he’s done that have just made me think “geez, not many players would think to do that and then actually pull it off perfectly”..

Reckon he could be worth the odd run in the middle.

I'm not against this, he's explosive and seems to be able to create a bit of chaos with it.

Plus it allows us to get Cook or Nankervis into the lineup.

If we want the 4 pts then Crouch is the best replacement. The only reason not to is concern that he may play well enough to keep himself in selection contention moving forward.

If they aren't interested as much in the 4 pts then by all means give Schoenberg or Berry more opportunities against a high calibre opponent.

Not at all saying we can't win without Crouch but that I think he would offer more in Lairds role.

Big loss if Laird doesn't come up. Hard to replace him in the middle, would have been perfect timing if Berry was ready to go, but he seems to be injured and terribly out of form.

I am thinking we will just bring Mchenry into the 22 and reshuffle the team to cover Lairds midfield minutes. I can see Dawson, Sloane and Rachele spending majority of time in there, with Soligo, Pedlar and Rankine swapping through. Keays would be the other one but hopefully he is locked in to the Daicos tagging role already and we don't get tempted to chuck him back in the middle to covet Laird.
