He might have just been coming through at the end of Oatey's time - was before my time but my mum's farm backed onto his on Yorke Peninsula and they are around the same age so Davies would have been early 20's at the end of Oatey's time.I was young but I'm sure it was a high profile Sturt player explaining himself to a prominent coach. Did Davies play under Oatey?
Reckon that was Devon Malcolm?
Or maybe both of them
Agree .....Rankine & especially Rachelle to be given more MID minutes .....will suit the sort of game COLL like to play, quick ball movement ....which doesn't suit CrouchI think it would be good for Rankine. Defenders are hanging off him at the moment. Would be good to give him another way to get himself involved in matches.
Crouch for meRory Laird might miss because of a calf complaint according to twitter reports left training and needs to do captains run or he's out.
Sam Berry or Matty Crouch in?

Crouch for me
Chuck rachelle or rankine on him and hurt him the other way maybe"someone will go to Daicos", fair enough, but in what role? Run-with? Hard tag? Shake hands and see you later (like Saad)?
Looks like I might have been dead wrong:
Face. Egg.
Well the question was crouch or Berry and Berry can’t find the ball at the momentYeah cool, 30 CBAs, no clearances, 10 HTBs.
Sadly, his time passed, if a guy who is an Ex AA is offered with full salary and nobody bites...his time has gone
Exactly, he’s still young and inexperienced. He’s at the ‘would be nice if he was further advanced by now but has shown enough not to be panicking or giving up’ stage of his career.I think it’s too early to write him off
He’s been too anxious this year when playing afl , makes him fumble and miss kicks
At sanfl level he’s had 2 very good games , 2 of the better ones of his career
Don’t drop off just yet

Depth will never help cover your best 5 or so players. If anyones depth was that good they wouldn’t be depth!I'm not expecting to win if laird is out. We just don't have enough depth in the middle yet.
21 kicks, 21 handballs, 15 marks. He went alright in '83 as well.Yeah he did and Oatey loved him. Davies was a dead set champ, when he was at his peak I'd have had Ebert ahead of him for influencing outcomes but in 76 ( a game I went to) the GF for the BOG, Sunlight probably took the next 9 spots on the top 10 best players. If they say a player who stands up in finals proves a champ, he was a champ 10 times over because there was no way Port should have lost that match, they were the best team but Davies singlehandedly smashed them. I might be a bit hazy here but in days when a 20 possesion game got you a tag of leather poisoning, I think he had 21 kicks and 22 handballs
He’s been sub twice. Once good, once bad. Needs a full game in the twos.McHenry from 23rd to not even in the 26
Have a lie down. Why are these people not on the official injury list?
Berry has been the biggest disappointment for me. Last year he was fantastic and seemed like he was ready to take that next step this year to a genuine A grade mid. From all reports he was training the house down this preseason too. Now he can't even get into the best 22. I am hoping once he can get past whatever injury he has he can get back to the form he had last year.Schoenberg has been the biggest disappointment for me. Looked incredible earlier in his career, and just hasn’t progressed much at all. I have a bad feeling he’s just going to be one of those blokes that never quite puts it all together at AFL level, probably win himself a Margarey Medal though.
Makes sense. Feels like Schoenberg would be the most likely in out of those listed then.Keays tells AFL 360 he trained with the mids today due to the Laird doubt.
