himmilberg isnt ruck depth.. all he provides is a chop out for ROB.. exactly the same as frampton.

frampton is contracted for next year... himmilberg isnt.
Frampton is contracted for 2 more years. But where is the ruck depth coming from?

And? Does it matter? If he's out of contract and likely to be delisted and Frampton is contracted for next year, then why bother putting the time in to Berg??
It's like picking Mackay over Scholl
We wouldn't be playing Berg if we had made the decision to delist him!

You could kind of understand it we were sprinting like gazelles

its because were so unfit.
its pretty obvious being unfit and trying to compete at the top level of any sport increases the risk of cramps, muscle tightness and ultimately sprains, strains and tears..

i dont know.. that hasnt been a subject ive discussed in all my comments in regards to our current forward stocks and himmelbergs contract possibilities for 2021..
OK - can I put it another way. We have 1 genuine ruckman, ROB. We then have Frampton, Himmelberg and Strachan on the list as talls who can ruck a bit. Himmelberg and Strachan are out of contract at the end of the year. Who do we keep?

In my opinion.. neither.

get CCJ..

and then pick thilthorp... thilthorpe and frampton are forwards/chop out rucks. CCJ a forward and ruck depth.

lets face it.. tex will be there next year... so will frampton. as much as we would probably like to see the back of them both.. both are contracted and theres no way if Tex says “i’m going to put in a massive preseason and go around for one last year”.. that this club will say no to him.

i just dont think two good games in four years warrants granting himm another chance.

thats my opinion.

Tex also said he was going to take on the chop out ruck role and do a Richo and play on the wing

As someone else mentioned on another thread, CCJ is still contracted and would probably be looking for guarantees of game time. Why not not just keep Himmelberg and keep the draft pick/s.

Personally I am one that thinks Frampton can play and with confidence would put some big body aggression into our FWD line and was surprised Berg got the nod couple of weeks ago which he grabbed to play much better than in past.
Berg has few weeks to win a contract.

Billy’s just not a very good footballer.

His “aggressive” reputation is based on dishing out a few cheap shots in the SANFL last year, and smacking one of his team mates in the mouth during training this year.

If it was 1972 I think Billy would be quite useful to square up with Carl Dietrich, but for 2020 it’s really of little use.

What he actually needs to do is focus on his overhead marking. Numerous times I’ve seen him make pretty good position only to try and mark on his chest all the time. That’s just one thing.

Like Fogarty, needs to put the tough guy rubbish away. It’s 2020.

Talia matches up ok, but he'll be needing to withstand a barrage of well directed ball. That pressureless transition from our 50 to their final delivery into 50 has been an issue for years.
We’re gunna get pumped.
might be a 100 pointer.
unless they take pity which I doubt.

But that's not going to happen in the next few weeks.

Give Fog the 50 as an achor, clear the rest out bar a small forward or two in McAdam and see how they go one on one.

Fog doesn't need to get super fit as I doubt Tom Hawkins is, but he just needs AFL standard fitness to play a similar role, which he is no where near at the minute.

Asking him to play higher up the ground is ridiculous.
In all seriousness, he should be told that he won't even be considered for selection until he lifts his game - gets rid of the excess kilos and gets himself properly fit. Maybe that would give him the kick up the arse he needs, if he's to fulfill the potential which everyone can see in him.

To be fair to Fog, his role model (Tex) set an extremely poor example, coming back from the shutdown period with the worst "Dad bod" the AFL's seen in many a year. With role models failing that badly, it's probably no surprise that Fog is failing to put in the work required.

The good news is that Frampton's contract would be so small that we can probably afford to pay out the final 2 years, and get rid of him in a months time.

You keep repeating the fact that Himmelberg isn't contracted. You fail to understand that this is completely and utterly irrelevant.

Not quite sure about that. How many games did Matthew Wright play in his last season, before we cut him loose and Carlton picked him up as a DFA? Conversely, Poholke's card has clearly been marked, and he's only playing now when we scrape the bottom of the barrel.

I don't think there's even the remotest chance of Berg being delisted, but I wouldn't take his current regular selection as evidence to the support my argument.

Douglas too...

We have form with playing players and then delisting them.

And rightly so too, depending upon the circumstances. Every player on our list is a resource to be used, and the coach & selection committee's job is to best use the resources they have available to win games of football. That's why David Mackay is still getting games, even though he's on a "dead man walking" contract and probably won't be on the list in 2021.

Not this year it can't.
Just go into an insolvent position and let the AFL bail us out like every other basket case team does. Instead of prolonging the pain for another 2/3 years.

What is this?

We were not in rebuild mode when selecting Wright!

No, this year the priority should be to get games into the younger players.

Its means we need to play some older players around them.

If we win a game how soon afterwards will we hear from Chapman and Fagan publicly? Will it be before the song?

They'll be down on the fence where we see Rory. They'll then jump that fence and take the first after game, on ground interview. "Player? Nah, you don't want to speak to one of those, you've got the real heroes here. Here's a couple of question ideas."
