I'm too scarred to be believe such hope and hype, especially with a playing group that has mostly never experienced Finals before. Lose 2 of the next 3 and we'll be back to fighting for a spot in the 8 nevermind the Top 4 and that's very doable (losing 3 from 3 is doable). Especially without Pearce for Buddy.

25+ years of chinese water torture does not condition a man for hope...

That is a completely understandable POV from a fan of a team that hasn't quite climbed the summit.

Which is why you need the view of a neutral with no emotional attachment - this Freo team is well and truly in the mix. On par with the Melbourne's and Geelong's IMO.

The injury toll will probably be the difference in the end.

Don't forget that the Swans are a lot better than what there ladder position suggests. I have you finishing 5th behind us :)

I'd say Wilson plays a much closer style to Clarke and (to a lesser extent) Young. Walker provides a much better balance of styles down back.
Yep and with Chappy coming back, Wilson wouldn’t have been required to be as attacking so it makes no sense to get rid of our best lockdown defender. Sydney have some dangerous smalls too.

Ohhhh no no. A few people have called for him to be dropped in recent weeks. I reckon for a 19 year old he has been awesome. He definetly has been caught holding the ball a few times. Give him a few years and he will have the strength to break tackles easier and use that leg speed more :)
We’re playing so well, there are a lot fewer mistakes to pick on these days so they stand out. People also seem to have the collective memory of a goldfish but maybe that is just the vibe and it’s actually different posters being vocal at different times on each side of an argument.

And have beaten both on their own dung hills.
The Wise men from the East have run riot on radio, TV and paper wise about how Melbourne have been beaten. Praised the living daylights out of them.Yet were very blase about Fremantle being the first team to devour the Demon.
Similar to when we beat Geelong.
They almost see victories from the Dockers as flukes.
Injury and covid could decide many teams year.
Fremantle have never from memory had such a well list come this time of the year.
We are a real chance, as good as those that we have beaten, yet sit below on the ladder.
Jordon Lewis said that being there for the first time means nothing, once the ball is bounced it becomes just another game to win.

I really think this is a bit of a victim mentality. I've seen countless praise from over East on how well we're going. Almost every pundit I've seen has rated us top 4 at a chance for a flag since we beat Melbourne, hell, the show on us from "The Couch" was nothing but incredible praise for like 15 minutes after that win.

To those wanting walker dropped, who do you suggest we send to papley instead?
No one, I repeat, no one "wants Walker dropped".

Some people, taking into account a whole bunch of factors — not least of all the fact that for the first time in recorded history we seem to have almost full player availability — and grappling with strategic questions like backline balance, or whether it is better to prepare for finals (touch wood) by building continuity with experienced players, have, with hands wrung and minds wracked by doubt, posed the possibility that the selection committee might bring Chapman in for Walker rather than Wilson. They have, like good reasonable folk do, searched for possible justification in the form of errors, for example.

No one, on my interpretation, has suggested that Walker is sub-WAFL hack who should never be allowed to step foot on a football field again.

Maybe I'm wrong. If there's someone out there who wants Walker dropped, can you please make it absolutely clear and unambiguous by replying with these four words (and only these four words): "I want Walker dropped"?

I DO NOT want Walker dropped.

Walker makes the odd **** up that will lead to some hair tearing but he just creates so much, I don't get why people want to drop him.

Almost all of those moments I've seen have immediately followed a team mate sending him a kick that bounces in front of him or a handball that loops to a height of 3m before getting to him.

The Vic media has more faith in us than I do. One week at a time.

Your opinion only. I totally disagree.

Weird thread. Wilson is garbage, 2 decent games doesn't change that.

Walker is faster, better kick, better defender, best 22 and a better player then Wilson. This would be one of the easiest changes the club has had to make all year with Chapman now fit and ready to go.

This. Give me Walker over Wilson every day of the week.

Not here to curry favour with anyone with false modesty but - why not the 2022 premiership?

All the talk seems to be about Melbourne and Geelong - why not Freo? You're playing as good as anybody for mine.

I'm also thinking this side has better balance and more depth than the 2013 side. And you could put an argument forward that the head coach is an upgrade too, no disrespect to Ross Lyon.

The courteous thing to do would be to wish you luck on Saturday but really - I don't think you need it.
Shit, I agree, I got us winning every game from here on out (finals included)... but that doesn't mean I'm not nervous as **** in every game that we've played all year.

Can't fault Wilson over the past two weeks, but Walker fills a role Wilson doesn't.

Wilson isnt garbage... Hes a solid depth player for us.

Walker is NOT a better kick. Wilson has a long bomb on him that Walker doesn't have.

That being said I like Walker. He's a great player and doing his role.

This Wilson/Walker debate really has gone on far too long.

They play different roles. Wilson/Clark, yes, but that’s no debate.

I would take walker over wilson every day of the week but I'm not going to pretend that Wilson was garbage or poor defensively just to justify that. Was wilson incredibly unlucky to get dropped based off his form? Yes. Is walker the better the option out of the two of them for this game? Also yes. Both can be true at the same time.

Could be whoever finds form out of the 7 top teams, except maybe Carlton..
It's a really fun and close season to watch.

I think it's a close one. Wilson can still perform to Walkers' strengths decently whilst offering more offensively. Also he has experience and despite being out of the side for so long - came back and lead players here and there.

I'm curious to ask not just you but everyone else here on this Wilson vs Walker debate - who do you pick between the two if we're playing a final this weekend?

I love Walker and am salivating at the product of him after he's developed more and played 100+ games but I have to be honest and say right now he's overrated by the supporters. Yes I know he is a 19 year old 20 gamer but those numbers shouldn't excuse his fumbling and decision making. Once you're out there your output is out for judging whether you're a 5 gamer or Mundy himself.

I'm glad our list is in this kind of position where we're set up to have a pretty turbulent B22 in the coming years and it's not just a clear cut choice.

THIS. When Walker gets the ball you can just get the sense the afterburners are gonna fire, good stuff. Will only get better, it's a luxury to been in a good side and learn on the run, no fear.
