I'm going to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt that they don't want to throw sturt into a disfunctional forward line.

If we don't fix the other stuff going wrong it's not really setting him up for success.

To a fan, selection is one of the most tangible ways we can perceive change that will impact performance. With inflamed feelings and frustrations exponentially multiplying, the levels of hyper-focus on bit part players and the difference their selection or non-selection may make is defined in absolutes.

For a coach though, one of the most difficult tasks is getting 18/23 players singing off the same page. The level at which you can max out getting all those boofheads in sync on a 20k m surface area is the biggest difference the coaches can make to team performance. It's an artful exercise of logistics and psychology and very hard to get absolutes.

Wish he was good I really do he’s an exciting player
Goes missing for long periods most games so it’s like playing a man down at times

Doesn’t have much of a footy brain

Saying that he is averaging a goal a game

Just like JLo is doing with Walker right now I reckon he needs a week or 2 at Peel to remind hi games don’t get gifted
Agee with others that Erasmus could make a good half forward and could maybe roll through the midfield swapping with Serong

Seems to have the hunger and grunt
I’m keen to see something different

This would be my forward line if all available

Schultz Tabs Walters
Treacy Fyfe Erasmus

Jackson and Fyfe change in the midfield
You're picking Taberener over Sturt and/or Amiss?

Come man, really?

We broke down when taberner went off in the last on the weekend

Had nothing to kick to up forward and got smacked

Our little blitz at the end brought us back but we were down by 4 goals at one point iirc

The blitz was great but that all came from winning centre bounce and pumping it in to 6v6

Unfortunately we can't rely on that a whole game, so not having taberner up forward as a big target is a recipe for disaster

Tbone is a proven entity the others aren’t
Just because he’s had a couple of off games ( mainly due to the fact that the whole forward line cohesion was up to shit ) doesn’t mean you don’t back him when you need to win a game .
I’ve said it many times before, if Sturt was banging down the door he would have been selected by now He’s been uninjured for 12 months now

I thought Sturt was outstanding in the last preseason game. Isn’t that banging the door down? There’s been no games for him since

Joel Corey interviewed now on sport fm. Doesn't seem to keen on giving the young players a go due to them struggling to apparently run out a full afl game.

Just excuses

He was good in one and average in the other , but those games mean nothing
Hell we beat Port FFS but can’t even beat NM when it counts
He was average in the WAFL most of last year from what I saw

Laughable. Why can Ashcroft or Sheezel or Hollands run out a full game? I don't buy it that Erasmus and Johnson aren't fit and able with an extra pre-season under the belt. Erasmus was smashing the time trials when he came back for pre-season.

And then we have Brodie and JOM who struggle to hit 70% TOG and are amongst the least capable players in the entire AFL when it comes to playing a "full AFL game".

But "TBone" has been consistently average. At some point (I'm already there) you are going to have to admit, the season is a write off. There's no point continuing with the same forward line every week expecting a different result. At this point there is no harm in filling the forward line with a bunch of fresh faces, if for nothing else, to experiment and to find the ideal setup.

Whether you want to admit it this early in the season or not, we are NOT playing finals this year.

I totally agree. Even Ginby for WC has played well as a mid. It's bullshit as Johnson and Erasmus would be just as fit.

How can they honestly play Banfield who is a shocking kick over Sturt who IMO had performed better over preseason and has superior skills. How can Hughes get games over Johnson.

We were developing so well last season and then we have regressed in game plan and first picked players.

Season IMO isn’t a write off yet
Look at Brisbane, flag favourites with a 1-2 start
Look at WC lineup for this weekend
Playing all the old guy’s because they figure that provides them more chance of winning
If anyone should be playing more youth it’s them .

Keep in mind we are the 3rd youngest team in the comp , there are plenty of sub 50 game players getting a run

Season IS a write.
Brisbane AREN'T flag favourites, not anymore.
Winning OR losing to WC this weekend proves nothing, it will probably be the best or only good game either team plays all year.

I'm not saying we aren't playing enough sub 50 game players, I'm saying we aren't selecting the right sub 50 gamers when they are available.

At this point, we might as well play a Sturt or a Corbett or a Johnson or an Erasmus, what they offer couldn't be much worse than what we have right now.

You never know, they may actually be better.

yeah, if they can run out a full AFL game, so can I! ...

Surely Sturts manager is looking elsewhere
Do you think there will be any interest for a guy taken in the 2018 draft who has only played 4 games?
We probably on track to delist him.
And then maybe he goes as a supplementary selection during the pre-season, or gets picked up as a rookie.

I love the way people constantly rabbit on about how young we are as if thats some type of an excuse when in actual fact its an indictment on the clubs ability to develop and retain talent.

We should absolutely NOT be the youngest club when we’ve been ‘rebuilding’ since the 2016 draft. We should have best 22 players coming into their 5th, 6th, 7th years by now. Ignoring the front half of the ground over, and over and over again. I think JLos a dud coach but even the best coach in the world would struggle kicking a winning score with this list.

And on the rare occasion the club does pick someone with goal sense in the draft they never get an opportunity anyway.

Look at the saints forward line, 2 first year players and a 7 gamer… I wonder if that’s enough proof to prove the Ross doesn’t play youth brigade wrong and realise it goes higher than the coach, this club needs a clear out.

Did you see his injuries he was forced too

How can you prove he's a dud coach

Does it count as rebuilding when you finish a Carlton brain-melt out of the top 4 and win a final?

Ooo boy, comprehension still hasn’t improved much around here…

Who cares WHY he played first gamers, he did and it worked.

And I don’t need to prove JLo is a dud, I said I think he’s a dud. It’s my opinion, not a fact. But as I said before he even coached a game for us, he has been set up to fail because the list lacks goal sense.

I don't think JL is a dud - there's plenty of time to make that call.

But I agree with you 100% on the last part - I'm not sure I see us kicking over 100 pts this year.
