Taberner just has to go. If there is a shred of selection intergrity he needs to be dropped. No goals again on the weekend and several clangers.

Piss him off and swap out with Jackson/Darcy ruck/fwd rotation
Actually watch the game, then come back and make an informed comment

Taberner stays in. He was fine this game without locking goals. The last two weeks he should have been dropped. This week he did enough. 6 score involvements and he was marking a lot long down the line, and when he gave the quick hands it allowed us to move the play so much quicker.

He’s a poor decision making going i50, but until Treacy can prove that he can take those marks and take the number 1 defender them Tabs has to stay in.

I was literally just thinking this.

We don't need an experienced tall down there with Son Son in the forward line. I can't see the harm with playing 2 or 3 young medium/talls.
We shouldn’t play Amiss and Treacy in the same team unless Treacy is regularly slotting 4+ goals at Peel and/or we’ve given up hope of making finals.

Its all about a premiership window, watching us in the first 3 games I do not think we are at that level this year, with changes to our list.
A top team would be 3 0 win with the draw we have been given and the current non injuries. Agree with some points here with, are some of our older players going to be there in the next 2- 3 years when our youngsters get to a better level and we can really challenge . We need to sift through more as the season progresses. Treacy was not great first game but plays with the threat of one bad game and gone, needs some reassurance to settle into a role and see if he can hold down a tough position. Great to see Johnno there he should be given time to adapt and learn as well as other kids at Peel we are developing. Its a long season but currently I cannot see a season where we will improve on 2022.

Not even gonna bother with Sturt in my inclusions as the coaches have written him off imo

Walker for Chapman - injured and for Rankine
Johnson for Henry - swap roles, Henry to sub or some form at peel
Fyfe for amiss if he is ready, don't necessarily agree with this it's more a prediction of what will happen
No way Amiss should go out. Put Fyfe on a wing instead of Henry before that.

everyone's entitled to there opinion, I respect it and I actively avoid squabbling over them because it's petty. Each to their own.

BUT.....those saying Tabs definitely needs to be dropped after Sunday's game are just plain wrong. He was not crap, he was not ineffective etc...he played an experienced game using his body to allow others to come into play, worked hard for no reward goal-wise, missed a gettable set shot by his standards (perhaps his biggest let down of the match) and he dished off some decent handballs that were score involvements that helped the team....where we kicked 16 goals thank you. He didn't hit the scoreboard, but everyone else in the forward positions did, so that in of itself is inconsequential.

Can argue he could have been dropped before this game, and that's fine - that was warranted. But he wasn't and what he did out there, was pivotal to us playing better in the forward half, compared to the past fortnight. Was it perfect, was it really good? No, probably not. But it wasn't as woeful as others are stating.

For me, he stays until I see true evidence otherwise. Henry you could argue a case for dropping, he made some poor errors that could have been costly, but even if he stays - that's okay, we give him a bit of time to see if he matures in a wing role. He isn't going to improve anymore at Peel, same argument applies to Sturt, Treacy and Erasmus etc; but we can only select 23. It's all about team balance, playing who is in form and dropping those who aren't. Everyone should be droppable, make them accountable.

Tabs you'd argue is walking a tightrope line, but not based off the Derby performance. Besides, we all know J-Lo is very conservative at selection tables and the changes are usually always minimal. No reason to swing the axe anyway, off a win.

Not sure where it leaves Fyfe. Maybe based off the injury, the fact he's missed 2 weeks and his overall situation, if fit a week at Peel?

IN: Walker, Sturt (sub)
OUT: Chapman (INJ), Henry

The biases against certain players on this board is laughable.

Saying to drop Taberner for Treacy based on last game is ludicrous. Yes, kicking goals is an important KPI for a forward, but there are also other things to take into consideration. Taberner was providing a contest and taking marks on the weekend. As some has already mentioned this brings others into the game but also draws attention away from the others. Sure if the attention from the opposition is on Amiss or he gets double teamed he wouldn't be very effective. Also doubt Treacy based on current form with drop marks and less than 5 disposals is the answer.

one thing that impressed me about amiss' game was his effort in marking contests to get the ball to ground and not get outmarked. no doubt he couldnt go toe to toe physically with barass (although in saying that he competed well), if he did get out positioned he always managed to get a fist in to stop an intercept mark and put it to ground. did that a couple of times where it looked like he had no chance and barass was about to gobble up an interept instead it went to ground and our smalls could compete. good signs imo

The Treacy calls are probably looking to the future as much as anything, not necessarily whats best for now. While I dont think Tabs is playing well, I'd stick with him ahead of Treacy until Treacy destroys WAFL at least. Fyfe will make it an interesting discussion if available

Exactly no one would bring in Treacy now as Tabs is important for structure. I would delay bringing in Fyfe against Adelaide to see how our forwardline performs and to give him an extra rounds rest.

Tabs has one "better" game and you're singing his praises. Yes he presented and got up the ground so what. 0 score, 0 tackles, 1 pressure act per quarter. The 6 score involvements should be the miniumun expected from him every week - i will highlight that whipping boy Hughes had 7 score involvements! He had 2 costly turnovers one of which would have most likely ended up a freo goal. He's only there because we literally have no-one else who's up to it. But yer he played well ey 👍

Yeah, Tabs stays for me. Took a few grabs and was structurally important.

He didn't get any goals but he didn't need to. His ability to draw the better defenders or help bring the ball to ground, enabled other players to get the goals.

I don't see the point in dropping him, when his replacement probably won't get any goals either and is less important structurally than Tabs

At least now the WAFL is back so we can actually get some development into the fringe forwards

I'd argue that given we were able to dictate play at the ruck contest most of Taberner's role was making sure there was a stoppage of some sort when those kicks went up the line. It's not as good as a mark but not being marked against and seeing the ball over the boundary line or a ball up is alright. The team still gains the field position.

We were having a lot of issues having to build our scoring chains from defense because that's so many "game events" and each one could result in a turnover. Changing the ball movement plan into looking for a loose in the corridor but assuming that isn't there we need a tall down the line to kick it to aiming for a stoppage there.

... assuming we aren't being monstered in the stoppages.

Watching the game again I think the issue with Brodie is that an onball division of Brodie, Brayshaw, Serong and JOM is too slow in the middle. We started to get on top through the middle basically because of Switkowski as a link up player on turnover. Even in the centre clearances we got smashed against North cos they were quicker to the ball and then quicker to spread and win the clearance on the outside. Hughes coming in as a wing compounds the issue, Acres wasn't quick but he was quicker than Hughes. We need to keep Drizz and Henry as our wings so we can actually move the ball quickly
