I think they either bring JOM in or play him at Peel, hard to be sub for too long.

Who comes in may depend on what happens at Peel today.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Ras is the sub. Simpson would really surprise me, just because of his age. I think if they bring him in it’s against lesser oppo.

I think Blues will be too strong this week, need Jackson to play a huge game to win.

Also need Pearce to continue his with great form, McKay and Curnow a huge challenge with our missing players.

Pearce will take McKay and Draper Curnow.

I agree, JOM to Peel and Erasmus into the 23.

Emmett's tenacity would make him a good sub.

Fyfe to be rested for the Port game, replaced by JOM.

JOM is miles ahead of Ras, IMO.

Interesting highlights from Ras on the AFL website (around teh state leagues). Of the 7 kicks in this vid, 2 go directly to oppo, 4 to a contest or open space, and 1 to a team mate. At the pace of a WAFL game, I'd be hoping to see him finding an extra step to make a better decision and use the footy better, instead he seems to just chuck it on his boot.

I didn't see this game and I know people rave about him, but I think his disposal and decision making is still a fair way off. I think he's an ideal sub. A quarter or a third of a game to give him more exposure to the pace of an AFL game would be good for him.

But if we're talking starting 22, I'd go for JOM, then Brodie, before Ras.

The real selection issue is Emmett (and to a degree Banfield) providing limited offensive threat. Losing Lachie Schultz has hurt us.

I'd be bringing in JOM to play Acres style on a wing and Frederick spends more time forward.

Do people see Cooper Simpson as a legit half forward or is he really a midfielder?
From what we saw of Simpson yesterday he is a half forward at least for a few years yet. Once he gets a tank he might get som outside run midfield role but he has a skill set that looks good near the stix.

Hugh's out
Blake Acres in.

I watched the Peel game, Ras got a lot of the ball, but didn’t do much with it and nothing special. No steps, no run, just put it on the boot or handballed. I want Ras to be a great AFL player but I’m yet to be convinced. JOM came on this week and had 7 disposals in one quarter and should have kicked a nice running goal. I understand the people saying give the young guy a go (which I agree with) but on just current playing ability, JOM is still ahead of Ras.

Edit: just to add, in contrast to Ras, while Simpson didn’t get as much of the footy at Peel this week, just the way he moves and what he does with the ball, you know he will be our next super star midfielder and will be our best goal kicking midfielder in 3 years time. I would get him into the side as a small forward

I really hope we don't ever have to meet Carlton in a final and blakers place a blinder

Not sure if this would work but I wouldn't mind seeing Johnson playing a run with role on Cripps. The switchup in role might help him and he might even be able to nullify Cripps at the same time. Banfield, Brayshaw and O'Meara to take on his wing minutes. No changes otherwise.

B: Walker - Pearce - Aish
HB: Clark - Draper - Ryan

C: Banfield - Johnson - Sharp
Fol: Jackson - Serong - Young

HF: Walters - Treacy - Taberrner
F: Switkowski - Amiss - Fredrick

Int: Fyfe - Brayshaw - Emmett - Hughes
Sub: O'Meara

I thought he got injured at Peel Saturday
Minor thumb/wrist injury (jarring) in the first quarter when he got flattened by East Fremantle player. Disappeared for the remainder of that quarter - had it strapped up and resumed start of the second quarter and played out the remainder of the game. Was a little fumbly after the thumb/wrist injury and subsequent strapping but otherwise seemed fine.

Don’t disagree with this. Does JOM replace Emmett and Ras or Simpson come in as sub? Emmett looks like he could do with a week or two at Peel.
