From the sounds of it Lycett had a pretty good hit out in similar conditions to what we might see on Sunday which is handy. Prefer a dry game though. Even though it's been a while I kind of get the feeling that we could really smash Port here if things go right.

Do we have to rush Priddis back? Geez we look better balanced without him out there.
No we don't need to rush him back.

Will we? Well.......

It's a shame that we were down two men, in the last, and the young guys Cole/Duggan/Karps, tend to fade as the game progresses, which allowed the Dogs to make the game close. Might have been easier to hold off Priddis and Lecras if we'd won 60 odd - 90 odd.

Jetta taking kick ins was effective and gets him in the game. Mentioned this months ago as an option we should explore. He can either kick, play on and run around players and then continue to run up field providing a hand ball option.

Working well.

Jetta is my preferred kick in taker too, if he's in the area. A lot to be said for whoevers nearest taking it too and moving the ball on before the opposition can set up a wall.

I'd like to see the stats on the average distance of Hurn's kick outs this year compared to previously, and refined for kicks that go past the 50m line.

Feel he gets it past the 50m line less often, and when he does he's at 50-55m rather than 60-65m like previously. Doesn't help he doesn't have Nic Nat as a target either.

Agree 100%. Redden has played out of position constantly and on the weekend he showed what he was doing back at the Lions.

Yeah to me the balance is better. Redden does the blue collar stuff while still being a neat kick (read not panic helicopters) and not a statue in transition while the better offensive players Shuey, Mitchell & Sheed are our intended targets at contested situations.

If we are going to bring Lycett back (which I think we should as we need a 1st ruck heading into the tail end of the season and possibly finals) then I would think it is for Vardy at this stage. Vardy is playing sore and could do with a rest and Petrie is more likely to hit the scoreboard as the forward/ruck at this stage. I like Vardy and he has shown a bit but I just can't drop Petrie. Whilst Vardy had more hit-outs and got us over the line in the last quarter against the Dogs, Petrie had more disposals, more marks, more tackles and more shots on goal. If they are playing forward/ruck then Petrie is simply better.

20 disposals, a goal and 65 hitouts and is a proper ruckman. If slyce doesn't come in this week the match committee are taking the piss.

Bigger body in the trenches as well if it's wet.

If it is wet Priddis will be back in for sure, for Masten. Then Redden technically takes Mastens spot which I'm fine with. If conditions are wet we need bigger bodies who can tackle and take a tackle and that we all know is not Masten.

I've been a Priddis supporter for a long time and think he's been great for our side and club but I get the distinct feeling signing him up for next season will be one season too many. The club obviously think the return of Naitanui will help Priddis impact the game more and it goes without saying he would bring more than the last choice on the senior list next season. Wonder what coin he would be on? Hopefully no more than $350 > $400.

Lycett against Ryder will have the same impact as Vardy v Ryder last time. Lycett is a much better ruck than Vardy but in his first game back against the most in form ruckmen. He might actually run out of steam a bit and that might mean using more of Gov and Petrie in the ruck. That would suck more for our midfield.

People also need to chill on his performance on the weekend. He played a dung heap of a side and I wouldn't be surprised if his opponent was a few cm's under 200cm.

He also played in the wet. If it's wet on sunday and he pulls up well i just can't see how you don't play him. Vardy is sore and playing with at least 2 injuries atm. Even if it's close to a 50/50 call he should come in for vardy.

Vardy is playing sore and needed a jab in tje shoulder to get him through the game. We struggled against Ryder last time with Vardy.

So do you play a tired, sore 2nd ruck against Ryder or bring in Lycett after 3 games in the WAFL who will be desperate to break back into the side?

Given Vardy's history of injuries, I think a rest is a decent option.

I think Lycett will be beaten by Ryder, but he will still offer a good contest.

If it's properly wet i think Slyce could take the choccies tbh. He goes in really hard and hard, in tight games suit his play style. In a similar vein to mumford that way.

Who for? None of the big guys in the team are out of form. That WAFL game was also against a team with a weak ruck division (weak in general really).

I can only see him playing if Vardy needs a rest, he certainly isn't replacing him due to form for mine.

Vardy is dead average in the ruck at this stage and going up against the guy who has been dominant in that area this year and dominated us earlier this year as well. He's carrying at least 2 injuries and needs a break. Vardy did a couple of great things in the fourth quarter on the weekend (won us the game) however it shouldnt have gotten to that point and he was really poor for the first 3 quarters. He just needs a break.

Well that leaves us in a serious pickle. Midfield regardless will have to work harder as lycett will run out of steam and Gov and the dish will be rucking more. Another option is playing slyce and lycett but that would be unfair on Petrie or darling.

Lycett would have put plenty of miles in the legs while out with a shoulder. He will be fine.

Disagree - is a specialist play, poor/dodgy kicks like Butler and Barrass liable to give up a goal

There was a game couple of weeks ago where we had a kick in and Hurn wasn't around so Nelson went to take it, he's just about to kick and Hurn runs in and tells him to hand the ball over. Not long after Schofield is about to do the same and Hurn arrives and takes the ball off him, Schofield just goes and stands by the point post while Hurn takes the kick. If he's had to run in from 100m away to take that kick why not just provide an option for Schofield to hit up the the balls in Hurns hands anyway and he's 30m closer to our goal putting his next kick on the wing. The majority of time its not an issue but there needs to be a little bit of flexibility there to share kick in duties around so dumb shit like that isn't happening. Doesn't mean giving it to Priddis if he happens to be slightly closer or anything counter productive like that. There's hopefully more than 1 player in 18 who's kicking skills are an asset instead of a liability, these are professional footballers after all. Plus 50% of the time Hurn takes the 20m chip to the pocket option anyway.

Vardy has definitely improved as the season has gone on, but is still one of the poorest first rucks in the comp. Gawn beat him comfortably for quality taps.

Only had 3 marks on the weekend an each one was a big contested mark. Useful around the ground.

He only had 16 hit outs.
