Prediction Changes v Whoever The **** It Is After The Bye

I, for one, am shocked that Lecras is still named.

He's not out of form; he's in form and it's shit.
I am also surprised he is named.

He seems to have been seriously troubled by the hip injury; so much so that the guys on ABC sportstalk were suggesting he would retire at years end because of it.

So either the bye has helped things dramatically and he has come back refreshed; or we are giving him an extra week given JK is still out and he still will command a decent defender.

The backline has Schofield, Barrass, MacKenzie and McGovern...just why? Especially with no Hawkins. Schoey can easily play as a back flanker, and I'd hope they'd swing McGovern forward but if our last game is anything to go by...that won't happen.

A bit mixed about the changes. On the one hand, we are playing probably our youngest side this year, and Simmo mentioning that we were looking to bring in venables if he wasn't injured was pleasing.

On the other hand, we haven't really made any wholesale changes in a side that was so desperately disappointing just 10 days ago.

Has the penny dropped yet with MC and Simpson? I'm trying to comprehend the selections??? They're not really rewarding WAFL form or the blooding the kids, they're not dropping on form or making a statement (alas Bulldog style) and they're not really switching up any names in the midfield, which has been a confessed liability by Simpson himself. If there is a picture to represent this, it's this.....

Would've been pretty disappointing if they brought DV in before Parto tbh, since he's a lot less ready than Parto, and Parto has done better for longer for EP. Wouldn't have minded both of them in for Hutch and Duggan though.
DV is injured.

I don't get it. Simply don't understand the direction the club is going with these selections. Just a lack of imagination or purpose after having 2 weeks to think about how to arrest our slide down the ladder after 3 losses

Cole in for Butler is a positive as is the return of Barrass but that's where it ends.

We now have 4 KPDs plus Petrie, Vardy and Darling as talls when a lack of run/pace has been a glaring issue. Barrass should have come in for one of Mackenzie or Schofield rather than Hill because that change unbalances the side and exacerbates a problem rather than address it.

And why Hill anyway? Why not Lecras? If one of the other KPDs was dropped for Barrass we could have brought in Lamb and tried that. Or if we wanted Hill out why not play Karpany who is at least a like for like of sorts and a had an encouraging game against the Giants

I assume we are going to play one of those KPDs as a forward -why not play McInnes who is actually a forward and in decent WAFL form. Why elevate big Fraser off the rookie list if you're not going to select him. It's a pointless elevation

Our midfield has been our weakness yet we make no changes there. None. The demotion to WAFL was good for Barrass as he went back there and rediscovered some form and is now back in the side. Duggan is struggling so why not give him a spell and reward an in form Partington whilst his confidence is up. Didn't even give him the encouragement of naming him as an emergency but put Masten there instead

At least we seem to be making Masten and Redden earn their spots with sustained form in the WAFL rather than bring them back in after a single good game. Bringing an injured Wellingham back through the WAFL rather than straight back into the seniors is also encouraging I guess

I'm a Simpson fan and I've previously understood his loyalty to players by backing them in to turn things around but they're letting him down consistently now

Hopefully there's been some soul searching done over the break and we see a rejuvenated and hungry Eagles side run out tomorrow night that plays like it knows their season is on the line

But the eeyores have won and I just can't see it happening - I'm not seeing what the club are seeing

Absolutely agree with all your points except the part about the lack of imagination. I think they (MC) have too much imagination - how else could one explain Mitch Brown coming in for Jetta, Mackenzie coming in for injured Kennedy as ruckman\forward or Hill going out for Barass when 3 of our other forwards (Lecras, Darling and Cripps) are struggling to kick goals?

Lecras owes Simpson about 10 goals in one game. Backing him in for about the 50th time, what is he going to do?
Duggan and Cripps have done nothing for weeks, Duggan nothing for the entire year. It is looking rather like a "mates club".

I doubt Lamb will ever play for this club again.
I fully expect him to do well at a small Victorian club in a HFF type role.

We played him once. In R1 and he wasn't even that bad. That was years ago now.

It goes a bit like this :

Firstly two senior WC ( unnamed ;) officials ) meet and plot what the team and the game plan will look like.

Then

He instructs the MC...... ( sorry suggests ) what changes need to be made and what the game plan is .

He then sits in the Coaching Box to observe that all the instructions ... ( sorry suggestions ) are acted upon.
He reports all his observations and notes back to this bloke below .
Just in case you were unsure why he is in the coaching box in the first place.

And the sooner the pair of them Fu(k off........ the better it will be for the Club going forward.
Just make sure Trevor and family both go as Todd's appointment makes about as much sense as extending Ploddis inJune.
