Every time this is brought up I have flashbacks and get the uncontrollable urge to put my fist through the tv

The Good Guys like this .... have we got a deal for you.

Yeah I know lol.
Ppl were saying that he would've been brought in if not injured, but Parto would've deserved a debut more than him otherwise.
They would have been playing different positions though. DV would have come in for a forward, Parto a mid.

Considering parto has been one of our most consistent mids in the wafl it seems strange Cole gets a go on the wing over him .
Would have preferred

out Emac in barrass
out butler in Cole
out hill in partington

Why won't Cole play in defence, like Butler?

The backline has Schofield, Barrass, MacKenzie and McGovern...just why? Especially with no Hawkins. Schoey can easily play as a back flanker, and I'd hope they'd swing McGovern forward but if our last game is anything to go by...that won't happen.

They tried the Gov forward with Jk and it failed. Maybe without JK could work better. Darling needs help.

Wouldnt be surprisef to see Barrass played forward when Petrie rucks.

We have some pace off HB with Nelson & Cole- we're going to need it.

I can live with Danger having a big game- he's a superstar. But if we let Motlop run around without an opponent all day - he'll kick 4 goals and have 25 touches this week. Then go back to 12 and no impact next week.

I'd be pretty disappointed if Nelson wasn't given the job on Motlop, Simmo was happy to do it against Cyril.

FOUR key defenders, two planks of wood pretending to be rucks, no ground-ball winners and a hatful of witches hats.

This is the worst selection of available players that I have seen in years.

We will be destroyed off their halfback, Tuohy might get close to 40 touches. Motlop and Menzel could easily kick eight between them. We will be continuously second to the ball. It is going to be ugly.

Expect Hutchings to go to Dangerfield after he gets 15+ possessions in the first quarter.

Expect McGovern to move forward early; then move back when things go wrong; and then go forward again when the margin goes above 50.

Nothing makes sense with this. It is a selection so unbalanced it simply cannot win. If it's tanking then they're doing that wrong too as the kids aren't getting games.

I will not be happy if Lamb, Partington et al end up leaving for nothing due to lack of opportunity and become good players elsewhere.

Cant even barrack for JK making a coleman push coming back from injury.

This game is going to be painfully dull.

And after that Gold Coast game, i know what dull looks like. Faaark that was boring.

Unless it ends up being a close game I can see it being a fairly quiet crowd, particularly if the writing is on the wall by quarter time.

To be fair, you guys want Simmo to roll out essentially our WAFL team against Geelong. Despite a number of senior players playing below expectations, you can't just throw 10 20yr olds out there and think they'll be able to match it with a top 4 side.

Youth in the team:
- Yeo
- Sheed
- Duggan
- Barrass
- Nelson
- Cole

That's about 30% of the side, and that's probably about right while the season is still up for grabs. Should we continue to fall away, well, throw the young kids out there and say bye to LeCras and Co.

One of them won't be playing back - Mark my words. Either they will play McGovern in the forward line all game, or they will rotate possibly between McGovern, Barrass & McKenzie? It's all a mystery!

Interesting stat just seen Scott Selwood
Has played 3 games and would be coming fourth in our club tackling count that's outrageous haha!!!

And also fourth in our turn overs by foot.

And you would rather trot out the same crabs and finish nowhere and accomplish nothing this season in doing so?? It's not about playing WAFL players, it's about recognising players in the seconds, who are pushing hard for a senior spot, and rewarding that effort, thus actually putting pressure on our regulars to perform. As Dermi wisely said, if you leave young kids in the lower league for too long, then the best they will ever be is good WAFL players.

7th at Adelaide
4th at Brisbane
7th at Carlton
6th at Collingwood
6th at Essendon
6th at Fremantle
5th at GWS
5th at Geelong
3rd at Gold Coast
4th at Hawthorn
6th at Melbourne
7th at North Melbourne
3rd at Port Adelaide
4th at Richmond
3rd at St Kilda
5th at Sydney
4th at West Coast
6th at Western

His tackle count from 3 games also eclipses what the entire Geelong team made in their game against Essendon

It's a nice stat but more reflective of just what a tackling beast scooter has been more than a specific reflection on west coast

We are ranked 16th for average tackles per game though so it's not like we are doing particularly well

Would've been pretty disappointing if they brought DV in before Parto tbh, since he's a lot less ready than Parto, and Parto has done better for longer for EP. Wouldn't have minded both of them in for Hutch and Duggan though.
Very bizarre, Parto has put a lot of consistent showings at WAFL level together, and although DV has more potential and will probably be the better player, he hasn't shown the consistently and output that Parto has, but they still want to play DV over him?

Not much more he could do tbh, but still gets jipped

When Dermie played at Hawthorn in the eighties they were notorious for making players earn their stripes in the reserves for years before playing league

Dipper played 99 games in the reserves before becoming a permanent league player

Probably the role we would be looking for DV to play- he seems well suited at this point to be a half forward who can play in the midfield in spurts.

Partington on the other hand, seems more suited to a midfield role, rightly or wrongly he has others ahead of him there.

He'll get a game soon, I think. Just hopefully that is enough to keep him interested in staying with us.

Fair enough point, but you can't seriously compare the footy system from the 80's to the footy system now. We are talking about the difference between professional football players and the part timers.

Two different systems in two different eras for sure but I would still prefer to take any player who has played some league football at WAFL, SANFL or VFL level over some kid who has never played against a man yet.
Way to many over hyped kids get drafted who can barely get a game at second tier level let alone perform highly there.
