Prediction Changes v Whoever The **** It Is After The Bye

I've been here long enough to realize that no matter what the changes are each week people will be unhappy with them.

People wanted senior players dropped and youth brought in but are unhappy becaus the wrong senior players were dropped and the wrong youngsters brought in.

People don't want to see the same midfielders like Masten and Redden rotated through each week but are unhappy because no midfielders were changed, when there's basically only one other midfielder that would currently be under consideration.
I actually wouldn't mind Redden being brought back into the team if that curley haired witches hat is dropped and Redden is given a block of games on ball in his natural role instead of on the flanks.

Two different systems in two different eras for sure but I would still prefer to take any player who has played some league football at WAFL, SANFL or VFL level over some kid who has never played against a man yet.
Way to many over hyped kids get drafted who can barely get a game at second tier level let alone perform highly there.
Yep, don't disagree. I just want to see Partington get a game in the middle, where we have clearly been struggling, when he has been consistently performing and deserves a chance. I also don't believe that Murtimer and Karpany deserved to be dropped, when they actually showed they wanted to be out there. I'm sure Simpson is on the hunt for balance, because he would believe we are close enough to/in contention. But the same players are letting him down, and not visibly being held accountable for their form.

They tried the Gov forward with Jk and it failed. Maybe without JK could work better. Darling needs help.

Wouldnt be surprisef to see Barrass played forward when Petrie rucks.

No it didnt. I have no idea why this is constantly repeated on here. He played the Sydney game forward and had 19 disposals and 8 marks an kicked 2.1, plus we won. That's not a fail by any stretch.

Cole named on the wing though.. interesting.
He might not play there but that is another favorite thing for the MC to do, bring a player in from the Wafl that has been playing good in a certain position and try him in a position he has never played at AFL level and then drop him back to the Wafl where he will go back to playing his original position.

This should probably go in the Piss Off the West Coast Eagles Board in One Sentence thread but McGovern doesn't have the fitness, work rate or attitude to play forward all game. A lot easier to float around the backline not playing on anyone.

If he plays the way he did his last game in the WAFL he'll be fine on the wing. He had 3 or 4 inside 50s (some very good ones too) so he was playing up the ground a bit anyway.

Is the Match Committee made up of the senior coach and all the assistant coaches?
I'm reliably informed that this is how Mitch Brown was selected in last years elimination finals team

Well

We certainly are trendsetters.

We pioneered the land the land of the forward giants - the bomb it into the forward line at all costs gameplan.

We pioneered the 3 ruckmen in a game policy.

We excelled at the slowest midfield in the league bar none. And we were so good at it, we rebuilt the midfield again in the same vain, and even slower than Mark 1. 10 years of sustained success there.

Now we are revolutionising the backline... 4 players in the land of the giants.

Can't wait for tomorrow nights game. Our leaders will lead the way.

To be fair, you guys want Simmo to roll out essentially our WAFL team against Geelong. Despite a number of senior players playing below expectations, you can't just throw 10 20yr olds out there and think they'll be able to match it with a top 4 side.

Youth in the team:
- Yeo
- Sheed
- Duggan
- Barrass
- Nelson
- Cole

That's about 30% of the side, and that's probably about right while the season is still up for grabs. Should we continue to fall away, well, throw the young kids out there and say bye to LeCras and Co.
Good post tbh. Maybe Cole for Butler is just step one, with Karpany for Lecca, Partington/Mutimer for Priddis or Masten/Redden/Hutchings in the future as we phase them in. Saying this group is 30% does give it a bit of perspective.

Well, the selections were certainly uninspired. I highly doubt we'll keep one of Mackenzie or Schofield in due to Blicav's absence, so I'll expect Wellingham as a late in.

I guess Partington was overlooked due this match being a crunch game and defining moment of our season. We are staring into the face of oblivion, and introducing a kid under this sort of pressure might not be the best idea.

The main thing is we're getting games into Petrie, he's the future and he's been such a huge figure at West Coast.
McInnes and Petrie have similar futures at AFL level, and Petrie is better now, so seems straightforward to me.

This has probably all been said already in this thread but the more I think about them the worst it gets.

FOUR key defenders, like I'm sorry but what? Shades of Mitch Brown in the EF in terms of stupidity.
Hill being made into the scapegoat when he was our highest scoring forward in the Gold Coast game while LeCras gets a free pass week after week.
Our worst performing position every week is the midfield and that is the position that goes unchanged? I know the MC refuses to drop Priddis and we can probably just give up hope that it will ever happen, so why not drop the other plodder in Hutchings or give Duggan a rest to find form and give the in form Partington a debut?

I'm happy to see Cole get a gig because he is a classy player and Barrass should never have left the side but there's not much else inspiring about this team selection this week.

Turn it up West Coast and Simmo because this is absolute trash and you all know it.

Cole is about the only thing interesting in this game as far as i'm concerned.

Thank god for that change at least.

I'm not convinced by it but personally I find playing all 4 of our tall defenders in the same team quite interesting. Something we haven't seen before, should be fun to see how it unfolds.

Who knows, maybe Gov and Barras line up at FF and CHF and Petrie hangs out in a pocket an Darling gets to play the 4th tall role he was born for and Le Cras plays as a 5th tall who Geelong decide not to even bother putting a defender on and bam! They all kick 5 goals each.

I'm sure in real life it'll be far less interesting than that but I'll be tuning in just in case something weird happens that makes Simmo look like the Rain man of coaches.

Not sure what all you campaigners are complaining about, with Cole in the team I just changed my tip, Eagles by 50
I hope he has a good game as it will be his last for the year.

Butler not even named an emergency so clearly just being rested.

He will be back next week after going one better than Priddis and signing for 2 more years.

Second that ball hits the ground it's a simple jog out of our 50 though.

We've just come off a bye.

I'll bet dollars to donuts Butler plays for East Perth on Saturday.

Just don't kick to Darling and more often than not that won't be an issue. Gov and Barrass have mastered the underrated skill of marking the football. Tell darling to stay down, he can't crumb for shit but has the speed still to hunt and pressure defenders like the old days.

I'm not educated on the process so correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the Senior Coach be the chairman of Match Committee?

Daniher (GM of footy) was the chairman in Worsfold's last year, so apparently not.
