He was named on a wing but I suppose it doesn't matter .Why won't Cole play in defence, like Butler?

I actually wouldn't mind Redden being brought back into the team if that curley haired witches hat is dropped and Redden is given a block of games on ball in his natural role instead of on the flanks.I've been here long enough to realize that no matter what the changes are each week people will be unhappy with them.
People wanted senior players dropped and youth brought in but are unhappy becaus the wrong senior players were dropped and the wrong youngsters brought in.
People don't want to see the same midfielders like Masten and Redden rotated through each week but are unhappy because no midfielders were changed, when there's basically only one other midfielder that would currently be under consideration.
Yep, don't disagree. I just want to see Partington get a game in the middle, where we have clearly been struggling, when he has been consistently performing and deserves a chance. I also don't believe that Murtimer and Karpany deserved to be dropped, when they actually showed they wanted to be out there. I'm sure Simpson is on the hunt for balance, because he would believe we are close enough to/in contention. But the same players are letting him down, and not visibly being held accountable for their form. Two different systems in two different eras for sure but I would still prefer to take any player who has played some league football at WAFL, SANFL or VFL level over some kid who has never played against a man yet.
Way to many over hyped kids get drafted who can barely get a game at second tier level let alone perform highly there.
They tried the Gov forward with Jk and it failed. Maybe without JK could work better. Darling needs help.
Wouldnt be surprisef to see Barrass played forward when Petrie rucks.
They just have to start him at FF and not put him back . This swapping is why he strugglesNo it didnt. I have no idea why this is constantly repeated on here. He played the Sydney game forward and had 19 disposals and 8 marks an kicked 2.1, plus we won. That's not a fail by any stretch.
He might not play there but that is another favorite thing for the MC to do, bring a player in from the Wafl that has been playing good in a certain position and try him in a position he has never played at AFL level and then drop him back to the Wafl where he will go back to playing his original position.Cole named on the wing though.. interesting.
If he plays the way he did his last game in the WAFL he'll be fine on the wing. He had 3 or 4 inside 50s (some very good ones too) so he was playing up the ground a bit anyway. He might not play there but that is another favorite thing for the MC to do, bring a player in from the Wafl that has been playing good in a certain position and try him in a position he has never played at AFL level and then drop him back to the Wafl where he will go back to playing his original position.
I'm reliably informed that this is how Mitch Brown was selected in last years elimination finals teamIs the Match Committee made up of the senior coach and all the assistant coaches?
Good post tbh. Maybe Cole for Butler is just step one, with Karpany for Lecca, Partington/Mutimer for Priddis or Masten/Redden/Hutchings in the future as we phase them in. Saying this group is 30% does give it a bit of perspective. To be fair, you guys want Simmo to roll out essentially our WAFL team against Geelong. Despite a number of senior players playing below expectations, you can't just throw 10 20yr olds out there and think they'll be able to match it with a top 4 side.
Youth in the team:
- Yeo
- Sheed
- Duggan
- Barrass
- Nelson
- Cole
That's about 30% of the side, and that's probably about right while the season is still up for grabs. Should we continue to fall away, well, throw the young kids out there and say bye to LeCras and Co.
Given how hard he has worked since getting here- I'm not even mad he's getting games TBH.The main thing is we're getting games into Petrie, he's the future and he's been such a huge figure at West Coast.
McInnes and Petrie have similar futures at AFL level, and Petrie is better now, so seems straightforward to me.The main thing is we're getting games into Petrie, he's the future and he's been such a huge figure at West Coast.
Cole is about the only thing interesting in this game as far as i'm concerned.
Thank god for that change at least.
I hope he has a good game as it will be his last for the year. Not sure what all you campaigners are complaining about, with Cole in the team I just changed my tip, Eagles by 50
Second that ball hits the ground it's a simple jog out of our 50 though.I'm not convinced by it but personally I find playing all 4 of our tall defenders in the same team quite interesting. Something we haven't seen before, should be fun to see how it unfolds.
Who knows, maybe Gov and Barras line up at FF and CHF and Petrie hangs out in a pocket an Darling gets to play the 4th tall role he was born for and Le Cras plays as a 5th tall who Geelong decide not to even bother putting a defender on and bam! They all kick 5 goals each.
I'm sure in real life it'll be far less interesting than that but I'll be tuning in just in case something weird happens that makes Simmo look like the Rain man of coaches.

Butler not even named an emergency so clearly just being rested.
He will be back next week after going one better than Priddis and signing for 2 more years.
I'm not educated on the process so correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the Senior Coach be the chairman of Match Committee?According to a footy record from earlier this year:
Vozzo (chairman), Simpson, Cox, Graham, Longmuir, Pratt, Gepp.
