Isn’t JJ back this week? Straight swap for Baker unless we’d prefer to bring him back via VFL.

I’m not as down on this team as some others, I think we’re close, just need some polish and players like Naughton to find form.

I would 100% bring in Buss this week though. Whether it’s for Buku or Jones, I don’t care. The kid needs to be playing AFL. He looks way too good for VFL.

I'm not down on the team at all,

We have 2 players horribly out of form that need a circuit breaker and kick up the ass,

We need to let Buss have a consistent run at AFL level and can't keep pretending Buku offers anything

As clean as Dolan is, 8 touches when given a full game isn't going to cut it.
Probably back to the sub vest depending on how things go with Vandermeer and Baker
Why has it been okay for Vandermeer & McNeil for the past 5 years?

Of course he needs to find more of it but I’d rather get games into him given his obvious ceiling and traits that we need.

Spot on when he does get it he uses it well,

Hardest role in the comp to play, getting games into him now will help in the long term

I would have used Vandermeer as the sub more. McNeil was used as a specialist sub in 2023.

The player I'm keenest to see in now is Cooper Hynes.

11 contested possessions, 7 tackles and the match winning goal against good opposition says he's ready for a crack.

Our small/mids forward of the ball mix isn't quite right at present. Too many lightly framed types who have minimal impact on a contest (no knock on individuals).

Hynes seems a great addition to that mix.

In for VDM if injured, if not probably Dolan (who is gonna be good, but a week or 2 in the VFL playing mid and racking up possessions would do no harm).

Based on being a travelling emergency, imagine Poulter might be next in line for a look? He can theoretically play VDM's role, or move to a wing and Davidson shift to VDM's high half forward role.

Need to win one of the next 2. Can not see us beating the lions so the saints is a must win which will not be easy hope The Bont is back.

Would rather we give that last spot to more a long term prospect, Poulter, Baker etc... should not be on our list come year end so I would not be persisting with them.

Bont is back for Gather Round, right? No?

That's what we were told wasn't it? 🙄

This is why the club has to give general more negative timelines for injuries, a player needing a week or two longer and fans / media start losing their minds.

The day after the injury the club said it's a complex calf and will be AT LEAST 6 weeks out and then will re-evaluate. So sure enough now Kane Cornes gets everyone up in arms and he purposely leaves out the "at least" part and claims the Dogs said he will only miss 6 weeks.

The other part is, the physios are just estimating at the time of the scan and everyone's body is different, as well as recovery, set backs, and building the fitness back to an elite level. Same fast healers may be on that 6-7 week side and some others may be on the 7-9 week side with all things considered.

Gather round was a best case scenario target but now that apx 6 weeks has passed since the injury, that may be rushing it a bit and he hasn't been able to get enough fitness back to risk him this week, so best case scenario now may be next week against the Saints. Which is only a week after that initial early goal, so it's not really that far off at all.

These things aren't black and white and they are just estimates, people need to stop hanging off the first rough date given and appreciate it's just an estimate with a ton of factors to play in to it. Do you think anyone at the club doesn't wish he was able to play this week?

Dolan offers a bit of speed but really 4 games for kid who is nowhere near physically ready. This spot should be Arty's has the speed and skill set but cannot find the ball because he lacks hardness. Arty you must develop this or you can kiss your AFL career good bye.
