Just saw Channel 7 place a big red cross over Sam Frost's name for Hawthorn's 2025 backline in lieu of Barass. The same Frost who'll be their full back for the next week or even month.

I find it so bizarre that 2 opposition players have already publicly requested trades to Hawthorn whilst their season is still alive. Does that ever usually happen?

It seems so odd to see the media talking about their line up for next year (and not just hypotheticals) at the same time as trying to discuss this Friday's game.

Yeh. Weird and rude.

I thought it was pretty much unheard of for teams still in the race to be linked to any trades??

It's basically Harmes in for West from what has been our most settled 22.

I think we were always going to roll with 2 of Arty/VDM/McNeil as the speedy pressure types as it's how we've mostly structured. I never really saw West and Harmes coming in at the cost of two of them (for better or worse).

Either Macrae or Daniel would move to the sub I think - or maybe Harmes as sub but it seemed like Bev was getting reps into both Macrae and Daniel to specialise in that role. Their experience maybe allows them to come into the game and impact straight away.

For the dogs and hawks, technically the finals completes 100 years in the VFL/AFL with both joining in 1925. Lets celebrate with a win. I hope the dogs have got celebration plans for next season where we should officially celebrate 100 years in the competition. My late father was a member from 1925 to 2002 and I joined in 1961 so that will be 100 years of continuous membership and we both members from 1961 to 2002.

Go Dogs.
That also means you are an old fart . BUT A LOYAL ONE AND THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!!! GREAT EFFORT

Where’s everywhere thinking for drinks before the game?

Think I want to avoid Richmond, go somewhere in the city.

Correct. He's a loss. Definitely a best 22 player.
McKenzie is a loss for us.

Still developing but is a very classy in an under user who has especially thrived in the last few weeks as he has gotten more midfield time.

He wouldn't hurt as much if Day was playing, but it will hurt us more because he was the perfect depth to cover him and now we are forced to rotate probably with ward who's is smaller and not as primed for CBA.

Im sure it's the Broken jaw. Not withstanding that, he has been pretty average the last month.
From reports the jaw was a hairline fracture and he played last week.
Granted he had a quiet 3 weeks prior to the injury but he’s the type of player with a temperament for finals and our second best small forward this year.
If he doesn’t play who’s our small forwards besides Cody? Would be a huge mistake not to play him in such a high pressure, wet weather game IMO

My ex-girlfriend accidentally invited me to her birthday pre-drinks at some Mexican restaurant..

..we could gate crash that and all get smashed of margaritas?

Yeah it's an odd injury and maybe the vfl run was a test. Has to be more to it than just dropping him but who knows. Unless they think harmes is the better option right now.

I’m fine with Harmes in over West but he needs to be in the 22 as hard nosed pressure role.

VDM, McNeil, Harmes, Daniel or Macrae all realistic options for the sub. Something tell me that Bevo will land on Caleb again.

West very stiff IMO. His forward pressure is really important
His last couple of games he was very quiet so it might just be a perfect storm of form & injury.

I do agree that he should be playing though. I’d trust him over VDM & McNeil (who has been doing okay) in a big final when the intensity rises significantly.

I don't mind it. The game is evolving. Players often announce moves in-season in the NRL, but still play out the season. I think the game needs to mature a bit in this area. It is not like a player is going to check out mid-season, once they've agreed to a move.

It's not so much about the players who are coming in, in this case both have already finished their own seasons anyway. It's about splitting the focus towards next season when a club is days away from playing in a big final. And effects current players in the 22, about to play in said final, whose roles might be taken by those shiney new toys. Media speculation and internal club discussions are one thing but this is different.

It's unnecessary and can wait (a few more days or even a month if they get that far) - and I certainly don't think it's a maturity thing just because the NRL do it and we don't.
