Goater has likely done a hamstring, so he isn’t an option.

Unlikely, but anyway:

Out: Corr, Turner, Hall, Howe

In: Bergman, Drury, Laz, Greenwood

With Corr, Ziebell, McKay and Logue, we are effectively playing with four kpds in a zonal defence that requires defenders to double back faster than their opponents.

Drury kicked 2 and had 19 disposals in a vfl smashing. Uses it well, can tackle and is a neat set shot. We may finally see Turner dropped.

Laz needs to be rewarded for his good vfl form. Additionally, we need to see what he has as a youngster over Hall.

Scott out instead of corr

And don’t mind the idea of not bringing in shiels and to have him just stay as a sub

Also wardlaw has to be close likewise Drury

🤣 I’m embarrassed to say I immediately thought of you yesterday when Bailey made a strong run down the wing and delivered a beautiful lace-out pass to Stevo. Scott, then, ran hard to get into great position to receive the return pass from Stevo. Unfortunately, Stevo (who played a great game) delivered a quintessential “North” pass and it bounced before it reached Bailey - thus, ending our most impressive forward move of the game. Ultimately, Bailey produced a “Bailey” later in the game by incredibly managing to kick OOF. Once again, I immediately knew that this alone was enough to secure eternal damnation from Nostrodamus. I’m ashamed to have to admit all of the above.

We’re about to get smashed by well over ten goals, no point debuting anyone..

At least if we bring in some youth and inexperience they bring some fight

Idc if we lose by 10 goals, as long I can see that we actually tried to win.

Every single GC player had metres away from a north player. Zero pressure and walking around with no intensity.

If we don’t at least take a risk and play Bergman (if not Injured) etc and take some risks I feel like Clarko is almost playing it too safe so early on.

Swap Laz with Simpkin and this is 👍

Agree with this.

I actually wish we could drop Mckay. But we don’t have anyone to replace? Mckay doesn’t deserve to play AFL atm

In: Greenwood, Shiels, Laz, Wardlaw, Bergman

Out: Phillips, Scott, Turner, Howe and Mckay (lol)

I mean even Cunners desperately needs a break. Could swap in for Greenwood.

Won’t happen. But im sorry, It’s time for Clarko to make a statement at the selection table. All these players are too safe atm. Take the risk, we ain’t winning too many games, give us supporters some excitement and some unknowns. Please 🙏

How long is that fight going to last for when they are getting smashed by ten goals week in/out, a month? Six weeks? Then we’ll have another generation of players going through the motions.

We’ve got some pain ahead this season

Genuine challenge to anyone who hasn't got Kayne Turner in their outs - Why the F**K not????
But its his leadership and professionalism....lah de lah de lah..... sadly his efforts don't make up for his lack of talent..... on that basis alone, give Lazarro a go! He actually does have some talent! And if its a pressure forward they want, start Wardlaw there, he can win a contested ball, tackle, kick goals, and take marks.

should off pissed him off to Geelong when they wanted him...

Out: Turner, Howe, Powell, Scott
In: Drury, Bergman, Simpkin, Shiels

Greenwood Sub.

B: Bergman, McKay, Ziebell
HB: Mcdonald, Logue, Sheezel
C: Shiels, Cunnington, Tucker
HF: Zurhaar, Comben, Stephenson
F: Drury, Larkey, Curtis
Foll: Goldy, LDU, Simpkin
Int: Phillips, Taylor, Hall, Corr
Sub: Lazz/Greenwood/Scott/Powell

This looks ok but I would swap Hall for Powell and McKay for Bonar.

Some of Powell’s execution was off but I don’t think he was as horrible as some others and he is the future. Persist.

McKay has been a liability for two weeks. Let him sort out his form in the VFL and bring in some one who wants it. Perez the other defensive option, let Corr take Van Rooyen and Logue take McDonald, Bonar/Perez take one of the mid sized forwards.

There's two parts for me:

1 - The D Press: We have gotten noticeably more aggressive since McKay returned to the side. It simply is not working. We looked far safer in the back half without him, when we appeared to be playing a far more conservative zone. It's like we've gone from six to midnight with him back in the side. 32 & 20 I50 marks, many of which are uncontested is just soul crushing. It needs to be wound back, otherwise we are going to continue to get torched on turn over. Perhaps playing some blokes that execute skillfully on d50 transition might also help...

2 - The Senior Personnel: I sound like a broken record, but the "mix" of youth to experience has not been right for a few weeks now. Senior "bodies" should at least bring maximum effort to set standards for the younger players. The only ones that have done this consistently IMO are Ziebell, Goldy & Shiels. You couple this with these senior "bodies" not being able to execute basic skill execution and it's a disaster. I'm over naming names, but at a higher level I think we need to be playing two less of these types each week as we did in the first two rounds, to give kids AFL exposure (pending they deserve their spot).

The combination of these two parts has been the story of the last two weeks for mine where we have transformed from competitive to basketcase.

I am very curious to see how long Clarkson persists with both.

Wouldn’t be against any of that…except Bonar, Young & Dawson had

Alex Sexton kick 5.5
Brodie McLaughlin kick 4.2
Joel Jeffrey kick 2.0

All of them had their arses kicked on the weekend.

Fritz will have an absolute field day.

Like the changes but as much as Bonar is a limited footballer, I have had enough of both Corr and McKay, one needs to go to send a message.

Given McKay’s efforts I am all for sending him back to the VFL.

Drury for Turner
Bergman for Take Your Pick.

Shiels and Greenwood thereabouts, Greenwood has shown he can be an impactful sub and his height makes him versatile so that can be his role if we want to be more youth focused. Shiels had 5 tackles (equal highest for us) in a bit over a quarter so he can come back in if that's what they want.

VFL is slim pickings if you want to add youth that hasn't stagnated for a couple of years.
Greenwood should play. Gives full effort. Should be in front of about half a dozen who don’t.

Fair points, but the drop off of our midfield performance has been a big issue since round 2 too.

When we win, we rely so much on LDU and Jy.

Just to take the crudest of metrics, the clearances, as a starting point.

NM 41 / WC 26
NM 45 / Freo 30
NM 24 / Haw 43 (no LDU or Simpkin)
NM 41 / Carl 30 (LDU playing injured)
NM 35 / Bris 37 (Simpkin subbed off injured, LDU playing injured)
NM 31 / GC 34 (Simpkin injured, LDU playing injured)

As much as we should, we can't drop Larkey this week. CCJ would get absolutely destroyed by May and the like.

Including the sub, I would make the following changes:

Out: Scott, Howe, Phillips, Corr, Shiels, Turner
In: Wardlaw, Greenwood, Bergman, Perez, Bonar, Drury

B: Bonar Mckay Ziebell
HB: Hall Logue Mcdonald
C: Taylor Cunnington Tucker
HF: Sheezel Comben Stephenson
F: Wardlaw Larkey Curtis
FO: Goldstein LDU Zurhaar

INT: Powell Drury Perez Greenwood

Sub: Bergman

Big big chance Sheezel misses this week i would imagine. Clarko confirming he was very sore after last week
