Firstly, how do you know the specific $$$$ of the contracts?
Secondly, it's now a different environment from when Rohde made that statement. The players have more power and want even more. If you look across all clubs, these longer contracts are becoming the norm. Our neighbours just re-signed Jenkins and Crouch on long deals, even after seeing what happened over here with Hartlett and Lobbe.. Free agency has changed the landscape. but, as with Hartlett, clubs will also need to find way to get some negotiating power back.
Just guessing contract details but not real hard to work out, so we re lucky we are in such great shape?

You run your own strategy, the moment you adapt to the "environment" we are stuffed

Not a fan of Koche but his outrage earlier in the year was understandable. He knew we were paying overs for players and he probably hated the idea that we paying 100% of our salary cap.

Assuming that all contracts have to be ratified by the Board of which Koch is the Chair he does not have to look far for someone to blame.

Does anyone know if Chris Davies is any good at what he does? I personally haven't seen or heard much from him, it's like he's flown under the same radar as Shaun Hart since he started with us.

He's very good off the pads. And dont bowl short to him.

Peter Rhode was much higher profile in the media. This maybe because Rhode had the football credentials and maybe the role Davies fills has been redefined so that he does not speak to the media as much as Rhode did. You are right as we hear very little from either Hart or Davies , then again Richardson and Walsh both worked in the background so maybe that is not unusual in Hart's case.

Disagree about Richardson. He did the weekly videos. I used to love those. We miss him more than Walsh.

If my memory serves me correctly I thought that Richo fronted the media quite a bit.

Who gets the credit for this fantastic trade period? I'm guessing Davies and Cripps?
Jackson Trengove for keeping the group together during the dark times. We wouldn't be where we are today without him.

Probably Ken too. Seemingly everyone wants to play under Ken Hinkley.

I can see why we shat the bed at the thought of him going to the Suns when we had so many balls in the air.

Last night I looked through a lot of Costanza/Davies stuff and thought we need to acknowledge how this all started. Apart from absolutely PMSL I found the genesis of all this.

To paraphrase the late great Clinton Grybus, chachi11 take a bow.

He started the whole CD/Costanza thing with this post in the now locked thread Trade Targets 2016 on page 313 On October 11 2016 with this post late in day 2 of the trade week.

Meanwhile....lets cross to CD working hard on our next trade.

Then Pappagallo posts
Hahaha I think it's official now.

As far as this board is concerned Chris Davies is George Costanza.

Which inspires rumoursofwinter to post these 2 comparison photos

And we are off to the races for 2016 trade week, and trade weeks into the future.

So thanks to the above big footy posters for kicking off a new Bigfooty Port Board tradition last year that will last for years.

Oh and if you want to piss yourself laughing, have a re look at the 2016 Trade week in gifs and memes started on the 13th October and inspired by the above work which is dominated by Costanza.
