Seriously though Dane Swan is a gun. And is more dangerous around goals then Juddy, but as a Midfielder Juddy has the best qualities of Pendulbury + Swan

Firstly, Judd is one of the most consistent players in the AFL. May not be consistently BOG, but very very rarely has a 'bad' game.

His game tonight was one of the best ive ever seen. Ever. The way he can turn a game on his own boot is amazing.
25 contested possessions
15 clearances
8 tackles

Will you ever learn. Argue all you want Swan, Hodge name your man. They do not come close. Will have 12 plus votes already, hand over his third medal.

Game over.

he was luckly tonight that Jack rolled his ankle and couldn't run with him after half time, hence the 2nd half dominance

Yeah man totally, only had complete hacks like O'Keefe and Goodes running around with him after that. Good Point mate :thumbsu:

Re: Chris Judda$

He's not even the best midfielder at Carlton, Murphy is their best mid. Still is more of a seagull type midfielder relying on others to help feed the ball out to where he is. Very good fitness and bursts of speed masks his deficiencies elsewhere such as defensive game, poor mark overhead and his disposal efficiency isn't that flash. I'm happy to have him out on the field whenever we play Carlton.

Overrated protected species best describes him at this stage.

Are you blind, drunk or just stupid?

Judas (Gary Ablett) is still the best player in the comp and has been for 4 years...to think otherwise is stupid or ignorant.

Judds game tonight was great in and under work in a tough contested game, 3 votes for sure, some of his kicking is letting him down this season and he does not kick goals all that often compared to some other premium mids (has missed two of the biggest sitters in the last fornight).

I think Swan, Pendlebury, Bartel and Watson have had better years than Judd so far but Judd would probably lead the brownlow, last year proved the much maligned theory that being an outstanding player in a mid-table side can win you an easy charlie!

Dont want to completely knock the Juddman though, he is up there, right up there with the best of the past decade and the best current players

Yeah nah he played awesome tonight. Since it doesn't transfer well through text...

He had 33 possessions at a SEASON LOW 58%. That mean 14 of his possessions missed their target. And don't blame the weather coz the disposal efficiency for all other players was pretty much the same.

And clearences are the biggest 'all show' stat on the stat sheet. It's like a player getting 25 handballs. The number looks good but what impact does it really have on the game. Watching the game most of Judd's clearences went to opponents or teammates who were outnumbered by opponents.

I'll say it again, watch him play and pay no attention to the commentators and THEN tell me how good he is and how much of a positive impact he has on a game.

Judd had 78% contested possessions, which means he's off the chart. Still, following the trendline, his disposal efficiency should have been below 50%.

It wasn't. Great game from the Juddernaut. :thumbsu:

There are knockers for every player in the game, no matter how good they are. If you actually listen to people who say that Judd is an ordinary player who is overrated then you are as silly as they are. No doubt he is a star. Tonights game and the game in last years finals have been the absolute best of him. He sure loves playing the Swans!!

He is the best clearance player in the competition, and his ability to win the ball in a contest on the ground is also probably equal to the best in the competition. These two factors alone make him in the best half dozen players in the competition. He is a solid kick, but not a great one. He does miss goals too often, but every player in the competition has some weaknesses.

If he wasn't tagged heavily nearly every week, then I think he would be getting the 35 touches and a couple of goals like Swan is. Having said this, that doesn't mean that he is a much better player than Swan. They are entirely different types and both are equally damaging.

So he is a champion player, but surely even Blues fans can admit that he does tend to get more soft free kicks than any other player in the competition. He gets deserved ones too, don't get me wrong, but it seems Judd is on the right end of the umpire in every match, whether it be from being allowed an eternity to get rid of the ball, to minor holding calls. What this does is infuriate opposition fans, because the guy is that good he doesn't really need the umpires help and as a result you get ridiculous blinded hatred and people questioning his standing in the game...add this to the Brownlow voting and the baffling MRP decision not to charge him and well...everybody hates the teachers pet.

For Victorians, while he was in Perth, he was playing for a team that none of us really hated, we didn't have to deal with any opposition supporters talking him up, so he was "ours". Now that he is with Carlton the hatred has come. Combine this with the loss of explosiveness due to his groin injury when he first arrived at Carlton, and the calls were correct I believe that he was a lesser player. But over the past couple of seasons he has certainly got that strength back and at the moment he is as close to his peak as he has ever been with Carlton.

So Carlton supporters, please think about this when people talk down Chris Judd. There are reasons why (not saying they're great reasons), but ultimately remember that he will go down as one of the greats of our game and after he has retired the hate will die.

He doesnt have to be the most naturally talented or best kick, he is all heart and pure willpower sometimes. And incredible endurance.

Haters gonna hate I guess, I  Juddy

It's a little sad that you can't enjoy watching one of the great players play.

I think it is the opposite. Every time he is near the ball he has 2 blokes scragging him. How he doesn't lash out or complain to umpires is a credit to him. I don't think the stats would support you theory either.

Well said for the most part. Probably disagree with the free kicks though, with the amount of scragging, holding, blocking done against him before the ball is even bounced or thrown up/in I think it's ok he gets a good amount of time to dispose of the ball. He also has that great ability to almost always have his arms free and not get pinned so can get off a legal disposal easily.

The elbow to Pav will always be in people's minds and you are right everyone bar Carlton supporters here love to see him struggle when he plays against them, but most hopefully have respect for a great of our game.

Also 5 years or so ago all the talk was we need to protect the stars from the hard taggers, they are a blight on the game. I think it doesn't get talked about as much now simply due to how many players are around stoppages and the full team presses/zones. Judd is one of the few players who still does warrant a hard tag more often than not and still blitzes 'em all for the most part. :thumbsu:

I will go in, get the hard ball, win the clearances, lift my team, work my butt off, lay a lot of tackles, help my team get over the line and be happy to come away with the 4 points. I am Judd.

Today was the best performance for an individual I have seen this season, and I've watched every game. Jude Bolton against Essendon is a close second. The difference tonight was the conditions made it extremely hard for players to stay on their feet or hold the ball. Then it went dry and yet Judd never went dry, regardless that he had someone breathing down his neck everytime. And pretty much everytime he was near the ball he managed to create contest. And then more remarkably managed to win most of them.

An outside running mid that due to bad groins turned his game inside - Incredible to do that at the highest level.
His kicking will never be the same due to the groins but is there a better hand baller while being tackled to advantage of teammates - doubtful
